  • I agree it is written and directed towards those (Gnostics) who needed to hear it - as there were some who "went out from amongst us who were not of us " (John says in another place), infiltrated the church who said there is no such thing as son. Anyway the thing is we don't lose fellowship Everytime we sin! Ok?! Understand? God won't cast you out ok!

    He is in you

    To stay:)

  • Very true! Me and Jesuz we are close bro!

  • When we do wrong, we are out of fellowship with MAN. Man can never SO LOVE as God does. Man only LOVE SO...so long as...

  • 1John was not written to unbelievers neither is any scripture because no scripture can be undestoood without the Spirit. Man can value its morality and concepts but God never wrote for non believers.Even the elect receiving the message receive it to be believers. This is a great error interperting any scripture in the context that some was written for unbelievers.

  • @polopowers1 amen i agree. what steve is preaching right here is a heresy called antionism.

  • If, as stated in the story of the prodigal son, there was no change in relationship, why did the Father bestow the ring, clothes and sandal on his, all representing different aspects of their healed relationship. I think what you're getting at was said well by Augustine: "You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you. In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created. You were with me, but I was not with you."

  • @EhJayJC The sandals were a symbol of freedom, as slaves couldn't wear them, the robe a symbol of dignity and honor, sonship, the ring being the family ring showing authority and his place as son in the household.

  • 1 John 1:6 KJV

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

  • @BroRogerAdonaiChurch did you watch the video, because he addresses the point?

  • Very good video. I believe your points are suprising yet valid. I believe that Church has complicated the simple message of God: to love him. It is a simple message. As long as we find our love for God then we will be better men. In life and eternity.

  • Hey Steve , Doesent scripture teach we can "Grieve" the holy spirit when we sin ? if that true it would be more than just "our perception" would it not ?

  • Holy crap! This blows my mind!

  • this dude rocks..

  • you are one of the few people out there actually TEACHING what i realised about the prodigal son's "acceptance speech" YEARS ago and have been trying to tell people and OH BOY you would not BELIEVE the horrible things they say back to me when i present this. do you get treated that way too? if so, you sure don't let it show.

  • Thank you for these teachings...they have set many free from religion

  • @Psalm511

Amen! The Bible doesn't say to find Religion, it says to follow God. But too many people think they're the same, when Religion has almost nothing to do with God (and vice-versa).

  • Well done keep preaching the church needs more of this

  • Right ON Steve!

  • I disagree with your assertions, out of fellowship is simply God holding us to account to the charge of confessing known sin, ( which is already forgiven) and God chastening us to bond, and express the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

    .

1Cor:11:28: But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

Heb:12:6: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth

  • Tell it to Esau, and Judas They were both part of the "family" Esau was the firstborn, but after he traded away his birthright, HE WAS REJECTED. Judas was one of Jesus disciples, but Jesus says it was better for him if he had never been born.

Paul uses these examples to make a valid point. We who are in the "race" must given diligence to "make" our calling and election sure, sure to who? well, not to God, He already knows, but sure to us!

  • No, Judas was not part of the family. He was "a wolf in sheep's clothing" - called "the son of hell (perdition)".

Esau was in the OT and can't be compared to NT believers. There is a vast difference between the old and new covenants.

  • Are you implying that Judas was not a Disciple of Christ?

  • I didn't imply anything. I plainly said what the Bible says - Judas was a son of hell. Are you implying he wasn't? That he was a disciple who loved Jesus like Peter, James, John, etc?

  • But you did not say all that the Bible has to say about Judas.

    Acts 1:17

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

Judas was apart of the ministry (family) of Christ. He was chosen just as the others were. My point in pointing out both together is clear - that this truth spans covenants - Your teaching that God's attitude doesn't change towards those who are living in sin - I can prove that to be a lie - My questions to you are calculated to reveal the truth.

  • Just consider how Judas would speak, if you could hear him today! (Hey Judas, is that anything that one could do to make God love you any less?...Is there anything that a DISCIPLE could do that would warrant replacement?)

We can fail of the grace of God - That is why Paul speaks these words in Heb 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God.

You must be concerned that you are actually doing what you are warning others about - false doctrine is false doctrine if it is not true.

  • Another thing-

You say that Esau should not be used as an illustration and yet Paul uses him as one in Heb 12:16 - Would you tell the Apostle that his use of Esau's behavior to prove that we today can fail of God's grace was inappropriate?

Esau's condition most accurately fit what Paul was ministering at the moment and he uses Esau as a testimony. Would you correct Paul for doing this?

  • Again, grace is a gift from God. It's not something we earn or lose by our behavior. On that note, I'll end this discourse. Those who believe in God's unconditional grace will believe it and, thankfully, your verbage won't dissuade true believers in grace. Please don't interpret my lack of response to everything you've written to indicate that you've "won the point." Truthfully, some arguments are so out of step with Christian orthodoxy that they don't even deserve an answer.

  • You don't earn God by your behaviour but by your decision and that reflects on your behaviour. If you decided to become a servant of Jesus Christ you surely better do what he requires of you,and this is a sinless life.If he is Lord you are his servant and now you no longer live but he lives in you and I dont see Jesus in you sinning. So if you sin you commited an error of course He will forgive but you must confess and repent to have fellowship with him again.

  • @kerabom

That sounds good, but I think it's a lie from the Church.

We do not and cannot earn God. God gives Himself freely. It's not our behavior, and we are not servants of Jesus Christ, we are His brother (or sister). What He requires of us is to give our life to Him so He can exchange it with His own life.

The Bible doesn't say we have to keep asking for forgiveness every time we sin. Instead, it says that He cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

  • Aaron, I've looked at your page and get it now. You fancy yourself to be quite the expert on apologetics, but actually are a run-of-the-mill Armenian. Your questions don't possess the clever strategy you seem to think they have. You are simply parroting the same-ole-same-ole arguments those who fail to understand the security of grace espouse. God's love is unconditional and that, my brother, is the essence of the gospel. It's a tragedy that you miss that point.

  • also this is not New Age, for we become united with God, we dont become him and he does not become us. We love him only because he first loved us. You did not choose him but he chose you. You had nothing to do with a decision that God made.

  • So the deliberate sins are the only sins we should be accountable for? All sin is deliberate and sin is a condition. Bad habits, behaviors are only symptoms of SIN. Becoming a Christian is becoming dead to sin and a rebirth to God in Christ. A believer has come out of darkness, and as he or she learns who they really are in Christ, the ways of darkness fall away.

  • (continued from below) This happens when we deliberately do things that are displeasing to God and neglect the spirtitual disciplines, especially the prayer and the reading of his word. I also think your concept of "oneness" with God is a New Age idea. We are never one with God. He is the supreme creator of the universe and we are only at His mercy through Jesus Christ. Please don't take offense to my comments, I just wanted to share my thoughts.

  • Thanks for your input, PJ and know that my responses are intended to be respectful as well. But what do you do with 1 Cor 6:17? "He who joins himself together with the Lord is one spirit with Him." Union is the essence of our salvation. That's what John 15 (vine and branches) is all about. This isn't a new age idea, but a biblical one. I encourage you to at least be open to examine the topic thoroughly before rejecting the idea. Google

"exchanged life" and you'll find tons of info on this.

  • Steve,

This is a relatively new theological topic for me so I don't have much scriptural evidence. But what I've learned from my exposure to Christian blogs/sermons/books is that there's two aspects: Relationshipn with God and Fellowship with God. Once we have accepted Jesus as our savior, we have become sons and and God is our eternal Father. We never lose this relationship. We do however, lose Fellowship.

  • Steve I have been listening to your messages and I like them and some of them I NEEDED to hear, they have helped me
