i remember that day like it was yesterday i was home alone with my little brother, when the earhqueake began the first thing that came through my mind was to get out of the house. And i can only descrive it like it was the end of the world, lights out, people yelling, crying..it felt like the ocean waves were under us and like we were surfing or something like that. It was pretty intense..
I rememeber this earthquake in Lima. Terrifying, my mom and younger sister were on the 3rd floor when it happened.
Next thing I knew everything started shaking and my mom yelling for us to go downstairs, we run into my cousin and nephews and outside was a total nightmare. I was already praying out loud, wishing "Let no bad happen!" Scariest moments of my entire life.
Man that brings me back to Northridge, back in 1994. It was terrifying, and I can sympathize with others who have been in quakes, they are natures equalizer along with the hurricanes/typhoons, tornadoes, tsunamis, and other natural disasters that we have absolutely no control over. We should all be prepared for the eventual big one, it is only a matter of time.

It's going to be almost a year since we had it. It last two minutes and it was 7.9 in ritcher scale. It was at some level scary, and it happened in Pisco, 200 miles away from where I was (Lima). Now specialists say it's our turn... Just have to be prepaired and stay calmed: key ingreidients to survive... there were earthquakes in Nevada? that's brand new info for me...

Whats your point? I'm sure it happened the day after allot of people's birthdays. Mount st helens erupted the same day i was born. Allot of people are born every day, so theres nothing weird, or "funny" about historic events happening on your b-day, especially not the day after.

It's going to be almost a year since we had it. It last two minutes and it was 7.9 in ritcher scale. It was at some level scary, and it happened in Pisco, 200 miles away from where I was (Lima). Now specialists say it's our turn... Just have to be prepaired and stay calmed: key ingreidients to survive... there were earthquakes in Nevada? that's brand new info for me...

dude that sucks i wuz in an earthquake in reno, nevada literally two days ago. i was playin in a jazz festival the day after it happened. i wish i got video of it cause it lasted for about half a minute.

Whats your point? I'm sure it happened the day after allot of people's birthdays. Mount st helens erupted the same day i was born. Allot of people are born every day, so theres nothing weird, or "funny" about historic events happening on your b-day, especially not the day after.

There was one 170 years ago in Callao that was 9.0.

yes it was it was like 7.5 or something and if you look closely you will see the lamp and the pictures shaking and moving, and if you didn't look at the news there were a lot of people that where left with no shelter, water, food, houses, and how many people died

Uff la verdad estuvo feo este terremoto la verdad no me hubiera gustado estar ahi. Yo vivo en Costa Rica, aca tambien tiembla y pues tengo recuerdos del terremoto de Limon que fue en abril del 91 fue de 7,7 en la escala y no es nada bonito de experimentar. Suerte compañeros de Peru...

In 2006 we gave $22,739,000,000USD of aid (source: OECD Development Statistics Online). And to compare, Switzerland gave approximately 7% of that amount. No, we are not the only country in the world. The US is a very giving country and out of the top 5 donater in the world, it makes up 33% of the donations. I'm just pointing out that ignorance of the rest of the world saying that the United States is bad. We do more good for the rest of the world than any other country.
