Ingmar Bergman Rare television interview with Dick Cavett in 1971 - Part 1

As a Swede living abroad since many years, I'm always amazed by how respected Bergman is in the States. Just as I'm surprised by how equally underrated he was in Sweden, prior to his death.

It shouldn't be possible really, since his grasp of the English language is very limited, and Americans (especially) find it hard to understand anything but "perfect" English.

Also, I like how he says "But the DIFFERENCE IS..." and Cavett just goes "Jesus!!".

I agree. He is VERY respected in the US. I myself...think he's a genius. GENIUS. The Faith Trilogy was outstanding, The Seventh Seal...the list goes on. I have an enormous respect for Mr. Bergman.
