@BlackCatNoni Thanks for the nice comment. The Dickens Village takes less and less time with experience. Last season, it was done in a long weekend. In terms of hours, I guess it's about 15 hours. The North Pole is much smalller and gets done in one day.
Neat!! My boss has some Department 56 buildings at his store that he would like to get rid of at half-price. If anyone wants a list, drop me an e-mail through my account...
These are wonderful. I collect North Pole, too, but I don't know how you work your streets and everything together in such small spaces especially around the wires and battery boxes!! Great detail!!!
Thanks for the comment. Hiding the wires is the most tedious part of setting it up. My base is a plywood board, reinforced with 2-by-4's. I staple the wires to the board and drop them down through holes strategically cut throughout the base. Some wires just go off the edges and the fabric skirt covers them. D56 Fresh Fallen Snow covers the wires. When I take it apart, I just go over the entire base with a pair of pliers and pull out the staples. I even sweep up the snow and can save 90% of it.
Beautiful displays. I love to look at other peoples displays to get ideas for my own. My North Pole display is just a little bigger - 8' x 4'. I have never been a big fun of the Dickens Village, but your diplay is very Christmasy and colorful. GREAT job!!!
Both your displays are wonderful and ambitious! How long does it take you to do two large displays for one season? Thank you for sharing.
