  • wow amazing thing.. i will try this, good job lad.

  • HMM a really nice technique, but it seam it doesn't work on every image. Because when i change the blend mode to "soft l.", you can clearly see the original image underneath. Am I doing something wrong perhaps?

  • HI Vinny,

Thanks for stopping by and commenting :)

Re the backgrounds, I actually use ones that I photograph as generally when I'm out on a shoot I'll always be on the look out for textured walls etc... I then put them in to a folder on my computer for later use such as in this tutorial.

    Hope that helps,

    Glyn

  • @GlynDewis brilliant! thanks for that Glyn

  • Glyn, would love to see a video on how you made the backgrounds, great vid btw!

  • TzumB...Interesting, but thanks for your comment. Think I'll stick with using blend modes though...I guess if it's good enough for Calvin Hollywood then it's good enough for me.

Would be great to see some of your alternative methods so please feel free to add a link so we can all benefit.

    Regards,

    Glyn :)

  • Not a really good job really.. blendmodes totally change the way the texture is processed and displayed..

  • Hey thanks alot for the comment; I really appreciate it :)

  • @GlynDewis Hey Glyn.....great tutorials....love the latest one about "Hollywood Abs" ....and I see how the 3D effect can be used for much more than just abs but the blend mode compositing video is leaving me frustrated. Whatever I do, when I use the soft light blend mode, it changes the entire background, not just around the strands of hair, etc. Is it possible that this will only work for very dark grunge backgrounds?? I have tried every angle I can think of and its just not working for me.

  • @AcuDocKenyon Hiya. Thanks for the kind words; I really appreciate it.

Re the blend mode tutorial, this particular one only works when you use a grey(ish) background. I'll post another one up soon that you can do the similar technique with but on a much lighter background which should hopefully help out.

    Hope that's ok,

    All the best to you,

    Glyn

  • Awesome videos Glyn.. Thanks a lot for sharing some neat techniques and tips.. :)
