Graffiti is an element of hip-hop and rap is as well. Although it may have been born in the "ghetto" so to speak, a majority of the writers today are probably a lot less "ghetto" then one would expect.

One element was Representing your name, an alter ego, as many times as possible wherever you could. you can whine as much as you want, a person who does not listen to rap, does not like scratching, can't breakedance but is writing... just is a part of hiphop

hiphop is not what you see on mtv (on mtv you see blingbling sellout with pseudorap)
