  • If voters want to make their votes count than they shouldn't procrastinate until the last minute. It's not undemocratic, it's fair. There is a deadline for everything. People know there is a deadline to pay your taxes so people should also be aware there is a deadline to vote. There is a deadline morons so get off your arses sooner and don't blame the government for your laziness.

  • Sam, something tells me you'll be residing in 10 Downing Street one day.

  • That was the most intelligent and succinct summary of the election that I have seen - and I have watched a fair bit of news this week (even the Adam Boulton shite!)

  • You are cute, that has nothing to do with anything but I had to say. I think Cameron will make a great leader. He'll sort out our society, eveyone who is capable must work and provide for their own, not sit at home drinking alcohol, smoking ciggies and popping out babies whilst waiting for benefits, which my hard working parents and other hard working citizens are paying for. NO WAY! This madness must stop

  • Congratulations Mr. Cameron, congratulations British people. I think this one could be a good Prime Minister, the kind of leader that the UK needs.

This is just the humble opinion of an Argie, but I know one thing: in these times, we need more Churchill and less Chamberlaine in the world. Don't you think that?

RULE BRITANNIA (do it with justice and intelligence)

    Greetings

  • @bimblinghill Fair point. I have often argued successfully against insular and racist views from various members of the public/friends/family/work colleagues, but it almost always descends into the same self absorbed rant that defies all logic, resulting in no change from before... it would be nice to see politicians do the same in a public context that the whole country can see.

  • @LeClassics Yes, that is exactly what I want to see. Experience suggests that the worst thing that can happen to a BNP candidate is to get elected. A few councillors have been elected over the last few years, but at this election, now the public have seen how they behave in office, they have been completely wiped out. The far right is not an electoral force in the UK. Never has been, never will be.

  • " The 4th biggest party by seat share is the Northern Ireland, Democratic Unionist Party, who gained 8 seats, but with only 168,000 votes!"

I think youll find thats because of the number of people in northen ireland which is where the DUP were voted.

  • The problem with PR is that extremist parties will get a significant say in parliament (BNP + UKIP together got around 1.5 million votes)

  • @LeClassics Yes, up to a point. They would get seats, but it would be political suicide for any main party to align with the BNP so they would remain voices in the wilderness. UKIP could perhaps form an alliance with the Tories, but they're mostly disaffected tories anyway and the world didn't end in the '90s when the anti-european right wing of the Tories was in the ascendant.

Overall, I think it is better to give extremists a voice in proportion to their vote, then defeat their arguments.

  • @LeClassics and why is that a problem? A true democratic system should include all peoples views.

  • @LeClassics seriously that just scaremongering to put people off PR. If PR worked that way Sinn Fein would have a shit load of seats in the Irish parliament and they don't. The issue with parties like the BNP isn't that they might get seats it's that over a million people voted for them in the last election....a % of those votes are extremist nutters but there's still a % of moderate people who opted to vote for them over other parties and that needs to be looked into.

  • That was an excellent and concise summary.

  • hey ust sub to you, really like your vids as you make things so muc easyer to understand. Easyer then the news dose :D

  • This is a good explanation of a hung parliament but in the description you misunderstand PR: "The issue is lack of proportional representation. But we basically already have this, each constiuency in England has between 60 and 80 thousand electorate."

Proportional representation is a match of the %votes parties get and %seats it's not the size of the constituency.

All systems have their flaws though. I hope they don't rush PR through without scrutinising the specifics of the legislation first.

  • Good points, Cameron and Clegg have jumped the gun on this and gone against the rules. Gordon has been dignified enough to bide his time, and let them get on with it for a while. It will be suicide for the Lib Dems to join the Tories. They had so few votes, many of them protest votes to keep the Tories out. They will never be trusted again if they betray that support to a more extreme opposition to them.

  • so who will be prime minister...will it be cameron seen as his has the majority?

  • @ollierussell1 Almost certainly.

  • Sam, I hope some of the journalists who are criticizing Gordon Brown for "Squatting" listen to your explanation of the situation - they could then give a more informed comment. Well done.

  • they wanted a hung parlaiment the IMF will knocking on the doors of number 10 with the bailiffs shortly

  • Sam..! your intelligent lad...! BUT YOUR MISSING THE POINT COMPLETLEY...!

THE ELECTION WAS FIXED..! AND HAS BEEN FIXED FOR YEARS...!

Most people who are awake..! see straight through for what has! and is still happening..!

  • When we saw the huge numbers of voters on election day...! thay were voting for 1 thing...! To get the coruption out...!

IF people wanted the Labour party to win! thats all thay had to do is stop at home with there feet up watching..! as there vote will be counted automaticaly!

  • Well, at least Nigel surived his plane crash even if he came third.

And I was shocked Nick Griffin did so badly. I was sure he was going to come first or come very close second.

  • @theredraven Griffin was given the brutal rodgering he deserved. I don't often agree with Labour MPs, but Margaret Hodge's comment "get out and stay out" was spot on.

  • @bimblinghill And it now appears that moves are afoot to remove him as leader by disgruntled BNP members.

His old webmaster Simon Bennet has come out and dumped a load of shit over the web about some of the crap going on within the BNP.

  • @theredraven Indeed so.. highly amusing. Who knew that intolerant bigots would have trouble getting along with each other!

  • R U trapped in the 70's. my gran had that wallpaper. FREE SAM LYNDON from the 70's. on a serious note-informitive vid, good job.

  • interesting few days ahead, they better get sorted soon I hear the pounds in trouble and we need decisive action to stop us going the way of Greece.

  • @BiffaTW You're right. Global markets fell slightly because of the trouble in Greece. Now, we're in a hung parliament which is weakening the pound. Soon, our entire economic policy wont be down to the governing power, it'll be down to the IMF.

  • Ps, u know what ur talking about but, no offense to anyone but unusual for someone your age to know what this is all about. It confuses people who have been voting for decades!

Good work m8, well informed. (Just dont become a politician, it'll drive you crazy!)

    Nice 1 Sam

  • GET IN! lol (Used to live down White Heart Ln) ;)

  • thats some wall paper man

  • You're right about George Galloway. The mans a complete asshat. He has unwavering support for authoritarian despots like Saddam Hussein, Castro and Ahmedinejad. He even tried to justify the actions of North Korea once or twice but he didnt keep that up for long.

But what makes you say hes racist? I agree, hes a fascist and I'm glad hes out of our parliament, but why is he racist?

  • @Ilikenuman I agree. Sam, please could you clarify? (BTW, I hate Galloway, so I will be a receptive audience).
