@TheAngeltoDemon It's her composing that's so amazingly rare, and it stands equally unique in Asia as it does in the rest of the world. She's one of a kind.
@communityband1 She is no question a rare talent, but there are others like her who aren't getting publicity in asia. Her composition is impressive but it still needs tremendous development. Is she the next Mozart? I don't think so, but for humanity's sake, i hope she doesn't burn out and keeps developing. It will be best to hear her when she is at least an adult, having lived through some real life, and would love to hear it through her music. right now, it's just very sanitary, good tho
@TheAngeltoDemon She isn't the next Mozart - she's different from Mozart. Go back and compare their compositions when they were both about 5. Mozart displayed interesting technical appreciation of music, but his level of musicality wasn't anywhere close to Emily's. Emily had an innate sense of how to bring about emotion in music that made her compositions and performances sound like an adult's. In that aspect, I don't believe she has a known parallel.
@xoHarriox You are so full of bull. You neither have the ear for music nor can learn just by listening since you said that Emily made adjustments to Chopin's piece in order to play it. You are so jealous of her talent, and the jealousy oozes from all the comments you are making. Get a life and learn to appreciate one of God's gifts to this world.
Side by side try this of the Chopin Op. 64 No. 2: Horowitz (senior citizen) at the White House, Yuja Wang in the red dress (drop dead gorgeous at 24), and this one of Emily Bear, not long out of kindergarten. All on YouTube. My favorite is Miss Wang but damn, little Emily is good at this. Horowitz needs no further comment.
I'm not sure how musical prodigies this young can really perform a piece to it's full potential, musically and technically. I've played this challenging piece before and have noticed that she has either substituted or cut out notes that she is not capable to reach. I've met kids who have that talent to perform such unbelievable pieces at such a young age, but yet when i asked how they can reach those awkward stretches they simply said they had to improvise. But in saying that she can play well!!
@emilybearmusic then i am sorry for mistaking. She is truly talented!! I played this piece for a competition in the summer and found it truly challenging!! she has done very well to pull off a performance of such high quality, and yes this is one of Chopin's most beautiful pieces!! :)
@xoHarriox Also, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't many of Chopin's pieces written for female students of his that potentially had petite hands in the first place... ;)
@NeaCast thankyou!! for that interesting fact!! sorry I'm not a whizz when it comes to romantic composers! My piano teacher was temporarily stuck in America for a few months....so i got bored and fished out my Chopin books!! I learnt the piece by listening to many different interpretations of the piece by the likes of Vladimir Horowitz, ending up trying to master the piece within the space of a few weeks. I can confirm though that this piece was not written for his pupils though!! :)

I love the way Emily plays this song, but, sadly, my horrible piano teacher spoiled my love for Chopin music. Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of how she used to judge people's piano skills by how much music by Chopin they could play, when she could hardly play Chopin music herself. She needs to learn that proper technique isn't everything. I'm very glad I don't learn from that teacher anymore.
RARA LA ARTICULACION ... NO? BIEN DE DEDOS... ESTA UN POCO DESCONECTADO TODO EL DISCURSO... IGUALMENTE NO DESCARTO SU TALENTO, NO COMPARTO LA VERSION.
man whoever has that cough through whole video should have stayed home. not only is it annoying but by the sound of it they probably got everyone sitting around them sick.
This young lady is so amazing. It's hard to believe that she is so young when you listen to her play such difficult pieces. I love her interpretations. Good luck Emily.
@colourfulwithaU I know you aren't talking bad about this kid, but DUDE/ CHICK!!! She's a little kid! And, what's rubato? lol I love listening to piano, no clue about terminology though.
Rubato translates roughly to 'stolen time'. It means to waver the tempo while playing, slowing down and speeding up at will, to create tension and release. The most skilled of musicians who play with rubato will 'give back' all that they 'take away', so that while the tempo wavers, the pulse remains constant.
Emily's talented. Not perfect, but she'll get better with time.
Owwwhhhh Kid You make me feel that my Piano Playing Sucks....Since I Played this piece when I was like 15 or 16, and you played this piece when you're like 8 or something like that......Good luck for you....
She's totally amazing. I'm in awe. I see her becoming a hugely famous, successful composer. To be this good at her age in her playing and composing, is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
She was eight in May when this performance took place. Her birthday is in August and she was born in 2001, therefore she didn't turn nine until this fall.
Emily Bear is a genius! What really impresses me is her ability to improvise on the spur of the moment. She is only seven! Does Emily have perfect pitch?
@TheFlyingTiger129 yes i asaid that:P but thanks/sorry whatever:D i mean it doesn't matter even she was 10 it's almost a wonder what she is able to do and it's a sin to say this was bad.
In Asia, she would be considered talented, but not genius.

Just to clarify - not one note was altered or skipped in Emily's performance of this beautiful Chopin piece. No adjustments were made at all.

Many talented young pianists (same age) performed this piece with better articulation, better understending of rubato and dynamics.

If your piano teacher can't play this, then get a new piano teacher.
Unless you don't feel like progressing. I think that most people with some moderate skill should be able to learn this one fairly early on.
