I believe that when the time comes when there are no longer jobs, people will have close to a third of their lives to do whatever they want, and thus very likely get to meet a lot more people. I think this increases the probability for each person to find a much better match than in our current situation. Maybe this could actually mean less jealousy and cheating?

i agree with fresco a lot, but i feel that love is a brilliant word. there is no "objective" love, we invent the definition through our connotations. its true that in my op "real love" is "extensionality" the way fresco describes, i just dont think there is a need to change the word as much as we need to invent our own definitions and not accept a linear definition for something so abstract.

One day one of the guys walks in on her having sex with the other. Sadness fills your heart, and you kill the woman who said she loved you. What then?

Accept this as necessary evil and behave like them, or try to change things and act correctly? What You described is an issue. It involves emotions, but it is still just an issue. What about competitive sports? Will it be forbidden. since it will evoke strong emotions and people competing against each other, which Fresco wants to forbid. So if sports are forbidden why shouldn't art be forbidden? Art can become competitve. I'd rather be dead than live in such a boring world.

@Harregarre The point is not to make word worse, the point is to make world better. E. g., competition in buiseness is definetly nonpractical, as it pushes sides to fight each other, but not to create better goods and services with smaller or no polution. Psychological researches also show that without competition people tend to be more creative. Competition isn't the only nonboring thing in this world.

@focusproify Yeah, okay, no competition in business. But what about sports. I want to know about sports. I'm not good at making music, but I'm good at playing football. Won't I be able to play football? And building on this, won't there be football competitions anymore?

Also, suppose some people don't want to live in this society and they are banished from it. They band together, form an army to overtake a VP-city. What will happen? Will VP-society have an army? Who leads that army? Who serves?

@Harregarre If you grew up in a society where there was no football games, how could you miss it? Besides there are plenty of other "sports" that doesnt use competition as the main drive. TVP is not a city or a country, it is a system to redesign culture and thereby behavior. There will be no need for an army, there will be no need for a leader or servants. People will contribute much like today only their drive will not be profit or competion based it will be collaboration based

You play together, help each other advance their skills, win and lose together. I'm wondering whether people like you have ever played sports, because it seems like you don't get the point at all. @Harregarre How can the absence of something you have never experienced be boring? But I know what you mean, I like competetive sports and stil play squash and have played both soccer and handball. The thing is that football and other competetive sports are based in culture and in a future culture where competition is outdated, other new sports would arrise based in that new culture and would be just as fun and developing as todays sports if not more. it is a dynamic development.

@mikrobluess I understand, but it also raises some questions. Under what circumstances is there absence of any kind of competition? I don't think such a situation can be created even in a world like the Venus Project. It is simply not possible because for it to happen there would have to be an absence of any differences in the population. And how can you feel the absence of something you've never done? Think about sex. It's native to any animal. Same goes for competition.

@Harregarre Competition is natural where scarcity proveils, and that is dependant on the enviroment. In our western culture scarcity does not exist, but is being upheld falsely. Just look at how much waste we produce every year. we throw out thousands of tons of food every year, because it reaches last expiration dates and because we have distorded consumer patterns. you dont need people to be the same, but you need to change peoples value system from competition to collaboration.

It's competition for a partner, competition in terms of achievements in arts/science, etc. Also, you cannot deny that this competition has lead us to achieve extraordinary things. This competition is even the reason that we're even able to think of this idea. Aren't you afraid that mankind will lose its competitive edge? Without competition, there's no measure to your achievement. You might as well do shit all.

@Harregarre About emotions. In many cases such treatment of girl (or beloved girl) is made by society and conditions in which people are living. Change them to understanding, that if you love person, then the only thing you can do right is to make yourself and her better (in any way), otherwise, this is not love, but just mental illnes, which must be curred. Why to kill anybody? You are not the owner of this girl so make things positive way, so she will want to be only with you.

By extension this means that you should do whatever you want and that you should not care about the feelings of your loved one, because if she really loves you then she would understand. You need gritty realism and social disorder in order to create the evolutionary tagents to develop art. The Venus Project the art will be as dead and soulless to reflect the machine society around it.
