Not a bad track by itself, but I definitely prefer the rock music. This sounds too anti-climactic for the fight and I can't get used to it. Well composed for a MIDI piece though, I like the video game sound it has.
@PrometheuzReturns uhh american music sucks donkey dick when compared to Japanese composed music. Maybe you should actually try comparing them.
I was so disappointed when they replaced the awesome original OST with some shitty rock crap in the movie. Luckily they realized to keep lyrics to a minimum.
@lordoYYH255 Now i prefer hiphop and rap, but when it comes to asskicking in many forms i prefer hard rock, heavy metal. not this lame orchestrated piece of shit. Shit hans zimmer can compose better than this shit!
@PrometheuzReturns If you would sit and think hard rock doesn't match the fight at all. The music shows she's in a desperate situation and it shows her drive and determination to defeat Vega. I mostly like rap and hiphop too (im black) but i know when something doesn't fit, and hard rock does not fit Street Fighter in the slightest
@lordoYYH255 This piece doesnt work.... im sorry. i dont mind if's orchestrated, but have you ever heard music like mind heist? or two steps from hell? Those are epic orchestrated masterpieces not just one note bullshit.
@PrometheuzReturns its just an ost, nothing more and i guess everyone has their opinions. Though the final battle of the dub version made me cringe, especially when i didn't hear the song they played when Ryu and Ken fought Bison
@blackmetalwarrior Well, using the Free YouTube-to-MP3 converter, you can download this song right here, using the video's URL. As for downloading the whole Japanese soundtrack... you're on your own until I find the place again.
sorry i like THIS ver better than US ver. and P. S. on a side note, just like the live version of street fighter movie the US got it wrong on some of the translation of anime. typical :P
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
anyone who likes the usa soundtrack is a lame piece of shit. and if u get offended by this comment ur prolly a lame butthurt american. GO JAPANESE VERSION WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
This score piece contains class and drama, essentially fits and shows Chun Li's character in a very intimate level, it's perfect. Unlike the blaring and empty rock nonsense in the dub. This is how anime should be viewed.
The Japanese version OWNS the english version. With the exception of Bison/Vega, the English voice actors were horribly casted and did not match the fighter. This was a great fight scene in the Japanese version BECAUSE of the slow music.
American version had better dialouge with Guiles "I'll rip your f'ing heart out Bison!" but the music is way way way better for the style of the film in the Japanese version, you only need to see Ryu's meditation for that. This fit Chun Li battling to save her life perfectly for me.
Plus, Vega's deathcry in the Japanese version is THE best deathcry I've ever heard :P
As much as i love KMFDM and his "Ultra" in the USA version of the fight, i think the japanese version made a beautiful contrast between calm, peaceful kinda romantic music and ultra-violence, but anyway i love both versions
This is one of the best tracks in the Street Fighter anime movie ever and I should know because I got the movie on DVD so go out there and find it you'll love the BGM music just much.
i liked this song better than the american one though.. just my opinion. yeah it sounds weird without the fighting.. but watching it with the fight was awesome
this music may seem out of place in an action scene but you have to watch it in context of the events, i.e. this was about a character overcoming an insurmountable obstacle
ya i understand why the director chose this theme, but it fails in this fight scene, seriously, it would of worked out in another fight scene, but total fail in this one....
@darkwarrior007 Yes, and I prefer it to the KMFDM song (even though I like that one too) because it's got class and makes the fight speak for itself instead of screaming "HEY LOOK! THIS IS ENTERTANING" with rock music like so many American films do. The music IS out of place, and it works perfectly.
Hmm... the theme for the fight scene between Chun-Li and Vega, I'd say that the American version is better. Their choice in music was really good.
I may like some Japanese version over American, but not always because there are times when the American version did awesome. Street Fighter 2 the movie was a great example.
I think the voices was great as well as the music.
lol @ the anime geeks, the ones that just love Japanese versions over ANYTHING, even if they don't understand a word that's fucking said. LOL
Oh no, i was negative towards anime geeks, does this mean ill get some random guy trying to be intelligent and have a pointless pathetic comment war? tusk tusk.
how the hell is this song more fitting for the fight scene than the awesome kmfdm song? seriously people... don't be saying this is better because it's original and the american version is worse simply because it was changed
In the Japanese soundtrack, this theme is called the Balrog and Chun-Li battle. It sounds like a remix of their theme music from the games. It is fitting because it sounds more dramatic and stays more true to their characters. If you like Kmfdm, then that's fine. Don't have to make a big deal out of it.
i just hate the fact that if something is "original" it's automatically better. the original music may or may not be better. same goes for voice overs.
i gotta agree that while i like how this sounds, Ultra may have been better. this gives off that creepyness and horror that chunli feels when shes attacked by vega. on the other hand ultra gives the battle an intense feeling that it needs. both are good tho
@sanjurosama Never heard the German or Polish dub of Pulp Fiction, so can't say. I don't care for being a hypocrite; the KMFDM song is more fitting for the awesome fight scene. This song makes me think that it's an Ominous-King-Planning-Destruction-Of-The-World-AND-Love-Tries-To-Stop-Him Theme from some JRPG or Sailor Moon or something. That's how I see it anyway.
@vladik87 Yeah, I agree. I normally don't like American action movie soundtracks very much because they're tacky about the songs they choose. SF2: TAM is one of the few exceptions to the rule. One of the few cases I can actually say I like the American soundtrack more than the original Japanese, especially here.
I understand this is supposed to be a contrast to the action onscreen, but even with that in mind, it doesn't sound all that great. It actually sounds cheesy.

in the Japanese version they use some annoying torchy song that's playing on both the radio Chunli's listening to and Guile is too.
But I dunno the Street Fighter II animated movie is the only anime I like better dubbed and americanized.
