  • @MrBavelaar actually a 5120 has different (this 5127 has single-coil deArmond 2000s) pickups. 'gretsch-buckers'. they're very gibson-like humbuckers. thicker. hotter & dirtier (in a good way!) -i swapped mine out for TV Joneses, but honestly, i miss the original ones. they have a great tone for hard rock. if i had the cash i'd buy another one & keep it stock.

  • awesome :D

  • What delay/reverb effects are you using, if any? Very good tune as well

  • @IHATEPRUANE2FOREVER1

    It's a Roland Space Echo.

  • If this is a 5 series Gretsch (5127) then how did it end up with a G brand on it?

  • @alexhollandmusic decal :)

  • is this guitar good for (hard) rock?

  • @LedSandman

I don't think this guitar is good for hard rock, because the overdrive sound doesn't sustain on these single-coil pickups. I think you'd better choose Hum-bucking pickups like a LesPaul.

  • @LedSandman it's a rock 'n' roll guitar not avaible to play noise.

  • @LedSandman check out the band the cult their guitarist uses a gretsch and they rock hard

  • @googaboogaloo billy duffy does use a grestch (white falcon) but his pickups are TV Joneses. he has a TV Classic in the neck position and a Classic Plus in the bridge. the Plus is a little hotter than a normal Classic.

of course those are basically TV Jones' replicas of the gretsch filtertrons, which are humbuckers.

  • @googaboogaloo another rockin guitarist who plays gretsches is Tim Armstrong from Rancid, who plays a 70s Country Club. while his Electromatic signature model has filtertrons, his actual Country Club may have Dynasonics in them (single coils very similar to the DeArmond 2000s on the guitar in this video.)

  • What model is that one please? col looking. Playability take some getting use to?

  • What model is that one please?

  • this is a Gretsch 5127.

  • also das Gescheppere hört sich irgendwie unkultiviert an

  • Oh my god ! Is that a FENDER BLONDE BASSMAN Behind you ?! :O !

  • Rowe Industries Inc. in Toledo, Ohio built pickups for many of the well known guitar companies including Fender, Gretsch, Harmony, Guild, Ovation . They also built all of the DeArmond line of musical equipment . I worked there in the mid 60's and did a lot of the final testing of all of these pickups and wiring harneses.

Really great sounding stuff, and it was a cool place to work back then..

  • I like your style.. it's interesting to say the least.

  • ストレイキャッツ好きですね☆

  • Neat...Has a nice 'dirty' sound to the gain :3

  • I liked it, but too much reverb in my opinion.

  • Like that gretsch sound! Nice:)

  • nice!

  • wow what is wrong with your picking it looks so gay......ever heard about using your pinkie.......that guitar looks pretty cool

  • @FreerunnerDave You are SO close-minded, people have different playing styles and when you say someone's technique is 'Gay' don't expect to be taken seriously.

  • @ManamoPrime it just looks heaps unco........thats all, but it works for him thats why i didnt take it worswe than gay.......and for the pinkie......its kinda needed for someone who plays guitar.......

  • これグレッチのギターですか?

    セミアコはあんまり好きじゃないんだけどカッコいいですね!

    あと演奏も凄いですw

    こんなもの弾けません^^;

  • @a9a69944a51

    ありがとうございます。

    はい、おっしゃる通り、これはグレッチです。

  • 超カッコイイです!!

  • @hiro5751426

    ありがと~~~~~~!!!!!

  • Bunch or racket! Sounds terrible.

  • Sounds Alot Like RHH

    I like It!

  • I wouldn't change those pickups. Filtertrons are the coolest pickups in the world but I guarantee you'd miss those 2000's which do a pretty fair job of sounding like the storied Dynasonics of old. They also look killer. Good job. A fellow Gretsch nut from KY.

  • what effects do u have on?

  • Sounds like delay and reverb.

  • authentic rockabilly tone!!

  • Are you just improvising, or is this a cover? Also, nice playing and great tone.

  • I can Dig it Man

  • Arn'tt those the dynasonic pickups?

  • かっくいい~♪

  • 有り難うごぜーますだ m(_ _)m

  • crazy old style!!!

  • not too shabby for an Electro.. nice playin.

  • what model is this?

  • How many Gretsch you have? :P

  • great 50's sound. love it

I wish I had the money for the Gretsch White Falcon :-(

  • @kjeqc I don't think that's a white falcon. Not enough crappy gold plating.

  • @alexhollandmusic It can't be a white falcon, cause it's blue!? :D

  • @alexhollandmusic Besides, it doesn't have enough of the 'Value for money? What on Earth does that mean?' vibe that White Falcons tend to exert.

Good guitars? Yes. Worth £2500? Nope.

  • @kjeqc life is such bad when you have talent but no money to buy a decent guitar ;(

  • @xXxEvanTaekwondoXxX if you have talent with any guitar can play and sound decent.

  • @gneeba But is not the same...

  • The great guitar of the 1960s - you see it countless times in those old tv show clips.

  • hey wat kinda strings are u using

  • awesome,5120?

  • its a g5127 - i got one myself about two weeks ago and love it

  • for how much pl?

  • Which amp are u using and how did u set it to get that sound? Very good job

  • Thanks, i used a Fender 59 Bassman, Ibanez TS9 and Roland Space Echo for this sound.

  • that is a sweet sound

  • Where did you get that Bigsby handle? and G decal? Is that the Duane Eddy handle?

Great Playing and very cool look!

  • use the little finger as well. More often

  • nice guitar! what is song name

  • no name its just a bunch of legendary riffs

  • Thankyou

  • thankyou!

  • i have that guitar

  • is it a good guitar? so far from what ive heard theyre quite ..hrash..well not harsh but its not a very comfortable smooth tone like on a jazz guitar for example..what would u say??

  • Its more of a rockabilly guitar, and for what i play (Eddie Cochran, Stray Cats ect) it is great!!:)

  • Really, really cool, straymouse! The Dearmond2000s sounds awesome! What chord are you playing at 0:10?

  • its an e7

  • I belive you captured it!!!

  • Why don't people tune up properly before posting?

  • I didn´t that the electrmatic sounded so well.

    Give us another song!!!

  • is that the falcon or a regular electromatic

    how much was it?

  • electromatic

  • wow thats sound good

  • Do misirlou!

  • I messed around with the Boss RE-20.. I didn't really like the slap back on it.. I was using an old Gretsch 6119 and a Fender Deluxe.... I'm a filtertron guy and usually love the tone those pickups produce but there was something missing.....

was your delay a tape unit or digital???

  • I used a Roland Space Echo for this vid, but I also have a Boss RE-20. The Boss RE-20 is really nice. It has the completely same sound as the Space Echo.

I think you'd better mess around with the RE-20 more, until you get a good sound.

  • Thank you for the info and great skills on that baby. ;) She's beautiful!

  • i love this guitar and the white falcon but any gretsch guitar i play with f-holes i always take of the pickguard and if i have to i put a clear one on

  • I've got the same guitar!

  • Niiiiiice gretsch!

  • what echo are you using? sounds awesome. great playing, and great guitar as well. nice one!

  • Thanks. I have many echo units, so I'm not sure, but I think I used a Roland Space Echo for this song.

  • woah man how can u play that fast??? it's like your possessed by the devil or something... O_O;; in a good way though! =D nice work keep it up!

  • many guitarists play that fast as well as it might sound faster then it actually is because of an effect ;)

  • sounds lovely that guitar like

  • AWESOME! Great guitar playing! I had to watch this at least 10 times to get my fill!

  • Rcracer1, thank you very much for watching.

  • Me too!

  • he cool straymousse..

    very sympatique

Could make a comparative degree with him(it) re20 and roland 201 video sur song off stray cats

    tankyou

  • i love that echo!

  • Makes me wanna sit on the beach and play a Gretsch. Great song, man.

  • nice dawg

  • those dearmond single coils seem to cut through nice. i love your sound

  • just wondering is this the 5126. I love those dearmond single coils. Again brother great playing keep it coming

  • fantastic playing.. excellent tone.. goda love those single coils, hollow body and reverb... nice

  • WOW!

this is the real deal! O_O

  • thanks

  • Really cool!!!!!

  • thanx!!!

  • Very tasty! Thanks for sharing! Now I'm going to have to figure out how to get that tone out of my rig!

  • i don't understand why this doesn't have 5 stars. this is really cool.

  • Thank you!

  • Rock and Roll is in your soul, poster!

    You've got it! Well done.

  • that music is made for Gretsch!

  • Real nice tone there mate. Gretsch can do surf too it seems. All the more reason to get one i reckon. Thanks for posting.

  • pretty good, body. nice technique.

  • woo i got that guitar.. its my bestfriend! :D

  • that sounds awesome. i'm buying a cheap chinese rip off of a white falcon for 300 as a colector and shower'offer. but man you got some mad effects with that, keep it up.

  • why would you wanna show off a chinese mad pos

  • nice guitar and rad tune.

  • Nice guitar buddy, very nice

  • wut effects r these. love gretschs im getting 1 myself

  • Ooh yeah... hey do you think a 5120 could make a sound like that trough a marshall mg 15?

  • straymouse has some serious gear like Fender bassman roland echo 301 ect...so it will be difficult. Also 5120 has not dearmond2k which have good "gretsch twang". Anyway the more simple is to put reverb slap-back echo and some Fender clear sounds. Take a fender champ XD.

  • so i need an effect block anyway

  • If you don't have echo and reverb on your amp yes.

  • nice playing gretsch are deff the best guitars

  • i like the sound of gretschs with gain or slightly distorted. not a big fan of slow clean jazzy riffs myself so this vid is good

  • turn down ur freakin echo

otherwise have a nice day buddii

  • how much gretsch guitars have you got

  • great sound!

  • they say its one of the most beautiful guitars on earth.

  • i bet you like the cramps=D

  • its a song or just an impro? its awesome. i want to learn it :)

  • I wish I could play that music like you!

    Remindes me The Cramps! Cool

    I'm From Portugal...

  • Thanks, leonelmendrix.

  • im buying that guitar soon! :)

its in my local guitar shop... i have a pic of it as my background.... cnt wait to get it! :)

  • do u have some kind of thumb technique for that playin at the start?

  • menga111, I do no special things.

  • k thanx

  • That Was Great I Love The Way You Play And Great Guitar Too 5/5

  • ENDLESSRAGE2, thank you very much!

  • There's a rumble in Brighton tonight!

  • Is that "G" brand a decal or ground in?

  • That is a decal.

  • that sounded very psychobilly i looooved it....sweet

  • How do you get that sound?

  • Gretsch guitar + Ibanez TS9 + Roland Space Echo + Fender 59 Bassman = this sound

  • Man, the sound is great... Nothing wrong with the Dearmond 2000.

  • is that an electromatic? Would you recommend it? Perhaps I would buy one. Surely it wouldn't reach the other more expensive Grteschts

  • You are right. This is a G5127. This guitar has DeArmond 2000 single-coil pickups, but I don't like the pickup, because it has too sparkling and skinny sound, so if you want a cheap gretsch, I recommend G5120 that has dual-coil pickups. If you can pay enough money, I recommend a guitar with Filter'Tron or DynaSonic or TV Jones Classic. If you need 50's classic tone, DynaSonic is good, but I think TV Jones Classic is the best P.U for Gretsch guitars

  • do u know if that full bigsby on ur guitar would fit on an gibson sg?

  • I think Licensed Bigsby B60 fits Gibson GS.

This guitar's bigsby is the Licensed B60 also.

Probably original B6 does not fit, because SG's body is thin. B6 and B60 are the same full size except the size of the hinge.

  • holy shite that was sweet and raw!

Ive got to go practice more.

    zero

  • Whats your name on the gretsch pages?

  • AWESOME! I heard a little rumble in brighton influence in your song - love it! damn, I need a Gretsch
