Leona does a fine job, but some songs are almost sacred- like Marleys No Woman No Cry- that belong to their originators. I thinks its a given that Loving You belongs to Minnie and Minnie alone, and at best Leonas version could be regarded as a tribute to Minnie, and a fine tribute at that.

Obviously Minnie Riperton was the quintessential voice for this song, but out of all the remakes, this one is by far the best, especially in terms of being true to the original version. Leona did a great job and sounds pretty close to Minnie. Best of all, she didn't try to "make it her own," or "switch things around"--never a super idea, it seems. And with songs this specific in sound, it could be very easy to overplay it. Leona did an admirable and lovely job.

There are very few singers if any that could match Minnie Riperton's original of this tune, especially reaching the high notes. But Leona pulls it off with ease as a fifteen year old. And a great tribute I think to Minnie Riperton that she made such a great song that so few others could hope to sing. But Leona more than does the job here.
