  • he is GORGEOUS!!!

  • @SKRBQC Wow, that's the breeding of my dreams. :)

  • @SKRBQC Very nice combo , but he looks more pony like , he should b more regal :P

  • @mimiru1995 - actually his body is very classic for a Lip - who often are not overly tall - though regal would be a good description

  • I want him! haha this is the cutest!<33

  • Wow, SuperDuperCute! I have a Rowan too - he's not playful like your guy. what a horse!

  • H'es SO cute! He's loving the attention. Nice he doesn't roll with a saddle on. I used to do that (trust in arena that is) with my previous arab but he rolled with my new saddle on.. LOL

  • I have NEVER seen a horse play soccer !!!!SHOCKING!!!!

  • Rowan is so cute I have a farm with 30 friesions I LOVE HORSES!! Awesome video!!

  • Super Cute!!

  • Nothing wrong with stirrups bumping a horse. We use that during training to get them used to a saddle when we are breaking them in. It doesn't hurt them, and in this video, the horse didn't look bothered or abused in any way.... Very nice vid. Love the laughs!

  • omg how sweet and cute. hes playing soccor lol. thats so unusual but so cute

    xx

  • adorable horse:) just one tip: put the stirrups up so they dont slam against hes stomach:)

  • The owner has just dismounted to allow Rowan to play - the stirrups do not run up on this military style saddle.

  • soooooooo~ cute i love it <3

    is it a friesian ?

  • Part Friesian - Part Lippizaner :)

  • Soo cute!!

    hes like "big purple ball!!"

  • He is so handsome! :) So cute how he pushes it around- I wish my horses did that! :)

did u know that rowan in welsh means mountain ash ??

  • "Score!!" xDD

    lol

Amazing horse. The horses, I rode, were absolutly scared of balls like that.

  • Mine current horse doesn't even car about that ball:P

  • he is so beautiful! and i love how yall are laughing =] and cheering him on! =}

  • cute beautiful horse fresian right?

  • NOW THAT WAS CUTE!! :D:D (beautiful horse)

  • Just play with them - if they are scared of the ball (like Rowan was) then leave the horse loose in the arena while you quietly play with the ball yourself (never scare the horse by bringing the ball too close) - play with a friend if you have one - or another horse buddy that isn't afraid of the ball.

Eventually they will stop being afraid and become curious and approach the ball on their own - when they do let them play.

  • This video was taken the day Rowan decided the ball wasn't scary. We'd been playing with it and he was always afraid of it. We left it in the arena with him several times before he even became relaxed around it.

On this day we weren't planning to play with the ball - his owner was testing a new saddle and we were videoing the fit.

When Rowan decided to play with it she was on the horse - she got off and let him play on his own (that's why he is wearing a saddle).

  • do ytou need to teach your horse to play with these? or do they figure it out themself?

  • he's really enjoying himself we had a horse but she was scared silly of the ball we had she didnt't get it at all thought it was a monster ha ha

  • Rowan originally was afraid too. It was about 3 weeks between when he first saw the ball and the day he decided it wasn't scary any more (that's the day this happened.)

  • thats so cool! i love watching horses do that

  • that was freakin' awesome!

  • Its like Ebony he love to play with balls too

  • Look who's having fun ! :D

  • thats a nice horse ..i could sit and watch high spirt horses all day long

  • Very cute!!!Luv Horses...Sharon

  • ma10coll's comment has been removed (and I agree with you completely dragonracer...)

  • and obviously able to come up with more original material than you too ma10coll. ... funny video though. i got one of the jolly balls for my mares and they just stare at it. but they do seem to enjoy watching me throwing it. lol

  • lol read ur comment lol probbly think urv gone mad lol

  • i think they look at me as a fed hauling, pet.

  • hu sorry i dont understand sorry lol ut hes soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute lol

  • excelent!! What a happy horse! Nice to watch it, it gives smile...and ideas! ;)

  • whoa what a gorgeous horse! and i have the same helmet as you.

  • How did u teach him to do that or did he do it on his own? btw this is so cute!!!

  • This was totally Rowan's idea - we just enjoyed watching him play. All the "teaching" we did was to help him deal with his fear of the purple monster (the ball) - but that all happend on other days. This was Rowan finally making the decision his own that the purple ball was not a threat and then discovering it was a fun thing to play with. He's a real character.

  • the stirrups aren't bothering his flanks otherwise a)he wouldn't be happy playing. b) he would have made his distress obvious if they caused problems

  • Lol. I was giggling the whole time I watched this. It made me think that the warmblood at my barn would get a kick out of a ball. (He's supposedly 8 but he acts like a 2 week old foal as soon as someone starts playing with him....

And your Rowan is a-door-bell. :)

  • what an amzing horse and cute ask alex ferguson if he will sign rowan up for man u!!! he'd be a damn sight better than ronaldo :)

  • Yeah I agree! lmao rowan for Man u!

That wud really stuff them! a Horse playing better than ronaldo! hahaha Dnt Let Him Know..He might just have a strop!

    :)

  • The horse also works regularly at liberty and his owner (and trainer) were in the ring with him to direct if necessary - at no time was anyone (horse, person or saddle) at risk during this spontaneous playtime.

  • The rider dismounted because she felt it safer to be on the ground when he was playing - and did not want to get in the way of the horse's enjoyment. We all (horse included) had a great time - and Rowan discovered that the scary purple ball could be fun to play with - he hasn't spooked at one since this episode and spooked regularly before.

It's all about listening to your horse.

  • If you go back and read the original post you will find out why in this *unplanned* session the horse was working without tack. One of the keys for our working with horses is taking advantage of teachable moments - and keeping riders safe. The stirrups are held on in a way that allows them to quickly release if they got caught and there really isn't anything to catch them on in the arena.

  • Bah! If you took the time to take his tack off, his sense to play would have been ruined. Horses don't plan and if you insist on squashing play, you won't have a happy horse. Well done, cute video. :)

  • i dont think the saddle was anywhere near his flanks and it couldnt get wrecked unless he rolled. Hes really really pretty! Maybe he should go out for the soccer team lol

  • so cute! :)

  • He is beautiful and really enjoys the ball, yet there is something to be learned from the video- take your horse's tack off before play time the stirrups were bothering his flanks.

  • can any one tell me y the saddle is on cause it mght get reked

  • "i am so putting this on youtube!" haha :P

  • Wow! How FUN! Thank you for sharing!

  • LOL Smart horse Mary! Thanks for sharing. John

  • That horse is absuluitly BEAUTIFUL!!! And very intelegant. MY horse would just look at the ball, and then stare at me ... like "what am i suposed to do with 'that'? "

  • why he have saddle??

  • Rowan was terrified of the ball when he first saw it - and we worked really carefully to build his conficence around it. Then we just ignored it (it lives in the arena) until one day he decided to play with it while his owner was trying out a new saddle - she was just walking on him using a lead rope and no halter - he was so interested in the ball that she got off so he could play with it - the rest was all his idea.

  • oh, that horse is so cute! <333 :)

  • haha that horse is georgous love it

  • "Score!"

    haha, so cute

  • i would love to try this with my horse is it a special type of ball ive seen them advertised but i have one of thouse big execise balls already just wondering if i could use that or do i need soemthing stronger???

  • This is just an exercise ball - though we used to have two.....

  • oh ok... lol i might look mine out then and see how my horse reacts he may be 12yrs old but he plays just the same as he did when he was 4!

  • There is a ball you can buy thats specially made for horses, its thick and has a handle at the top so the horse can throw it for himself. I cant rememebr what its called though :)

  • thanks for telling me yeah i think i have seen those, might buy him one to make things more interesting. i tried with my exercise ball yesterday and he was decidedly unimpressed just snorting at it. the best reaction i got was he wobbled it with his nose and then pushed it away otherwise he ignored it! but maybe if there was something to hold on to he would react better??

  • oh what a cutie!

my horse would be like "uhm what the heck is this thing?!"

  • He is just wonderfull i have to colts arab partbred and a quarter horse they are almost ready to wean do you think they are big enough to play with a ball? any tips on enticing them to play?

  • Just play with them ;) We do lots of groundwork - with and without obstacles. My colts were playing with the balls even before weaning - we just left one out in the field and they played with it until they broke it - but make sure to have a camera - watching them investigate the "monster" in the paddock is very cute.

  • CUTE I want a ball for my horse

  • Ahhh I'm gonna get a ball like for when I get my horse!!!lol

  • Aww he's so adorable that ball! He is having so much fun isn't he?! His ears are constantly pricked forwards!! Lol!

Gorge horse! 1 question. Why the saddle?!

  • Rowan's owner was trying a new saddle and just riding around with a halter and leadrope when he decided to play with the ball - she got off and the video shows what happens next....

  • that is SOOO CUTE!!!i wanted my horse to play with the ball but she's scared of it...now it's getting better though!!!she touched it once!!!

  • lols cutee! i want to get a jolly ball for my horse but i dn if he will pop it. he has a milk jug with treats in his stall that he hits so he might like a ball. Okwhoisnext ummm why are you asking if you can have someones horse? thats wierd...

  • looks like he's having fun.

  • oh man..he is so cute...can i have that horse please? i dont have any.

  • aw wat a cute horse!

  • He wants to *be* the soccer team.... (and he keeps running through the goals which might be a problem)

  • How fun! One question? When will he join a soccer team?

  • too cute!!!

  • Thanks, I love him!

  • Nice horse.

  • I spent $20 on a Jolly Ball for my horse, but he squished it and tossed it into the next stall... His favourite toy for a while was a 4-foot piece of an old jump rail that he dragged around with him and would bring to you. He'd pull it over and drop it at your feet, like he wanted you to throw it for him or something!

  • aww pretty horse ya my horse loves to play with those we got him those sit and bounce balls (for kids) and he would pick them up and throw it over the fence at other horses then he popped it one day and i was like no more for you haha

  • Rowan was terrified of the ball when he first saw it - and we worked really carefully to build his conficence around it. Then we just ignored it (it lives in the arena) until one day he decided to play with it while his owner was trying out a new saddle - she was just walking on him using a lead rope and no halter (Rowan1) - he was so interested in the ball that she got off so he could play with it - the rest was all his idea.

  • This video was taken the day Rowan decided the ball wasn't scary. We'd been playing with it and he was always afraid of it. We left it in the arena with him several times before he even became relaxed around it.

  • i wish i knew how to make my horse play ball...
