One last comment: just after the 1989 Revolution, a very high ex-stalinist boss and member of the Ion Iliescu (first post-communist Romanian leader) gang, Silviu Brucan, said at TV that the Romanians are "a stupid people" and needs at least 20 years to wake-up from the red utopia. . If today so many of my compatriots are so favorable vis-a vis of the Ceausescu's era, i think the old dinosaur was right.

I have a few nagging sentiments with causing violent and destructive revolutions even if they are for a good cause (simply because the revolutions fail to solve the truly fundamental issues that create the poverty in the first place.) I do not neither hate nor love Lenin but sometimes I wonder whether utopia can only be born by evolution and not revolution. Perhaps it needs to be nurtured like a child until it is ready to succeed its parent rather than killing its mother during childbirth.

The idea that the poor are unfairly treated by those who are not poor is a common thread among dictators looking for power. It seems they ignore what they had to suffer before 1989 (insufficient food, severe electricity shortage, , the shame of the moral and material misery AND not a single hope for a better future. Life was better for who? Party nomenklatura, the Securitate . If the workers today are considering the life was better before 1989, i say let's remember some moments (1977 Valea Jiului, 1987 Brasov - i was there by the way...)

actually I have the opinion of my romanian friends and polls conducted among the average Romanian population. You have a different opinion, but I don't think you're the only source of truth and history.
most romanians see the ceaucescu area favorable, which contradicts the general view in the West. (because western media are very biased, not less so than communist media)

One last comment: just after the 1989 Revolution, a very high ex-stalinist boss and member of the Ion Iliescu (first post-communist Romanian leader) gang, Silviu Brucan, said at TV that the Romanians are "a stupid people" and needs at least 20 years to wake-up from the red utopia. . If today so many of my compatriots are so favorable vis-a vis of the Ceausescu's era, i think the old dinosaur was right.

I have a few nagging sentiments with causing violent and destructive revolutions even if they are for a good cause (simply because the revolutions fail to solve the truly fundamental issues that create the poverty in the first place.) I do not neither hate nor love Lenin but sometimes I wonder whether utopia can only be born by evolution and not revolution. Perhaps it needs to be nurtured like a child until it is ready to succeed its parent rather than killing its mother during childbirth.

The idea that the poor are unfairly treated by those who are not poor is a common thread among dictators looking for power. Pointing out great opportunities to relieve these individuals from their poverty would be more noble. If we cant find a way to do this, then the world will be forever in the clutches of anger and dictators.
