It is incredible to read how many people are so desparate to get attention that they use this crisis to vomit their trash all over these postings on youtube. This is a horrible fact of life on this planet - it pays no heed to the life forms on it. There is no intervention from supirior beings - none neccessary, sheer tectonics. I went through and read the majority of the comments left behind on this video & others related to this disaster and I must say that I was shocked at the general lack of empathy. At least 80% of the comments were cynical & shamefully inconsiderate. Some even made attempts at being comical. The truth of the matter is that we are watching human lives being stamped out with untold years of suffering to comedown the road for the people affected.
So what do these comments tell us about the mental & emotional state of human in the 21st century. Have we engulfed ourselves in the fantasies presented to us on television, movies, video games so much so that when we see suffering in real life it entertains us instead of moving us to tears? My Japanese Art professor's family was affected by the tsunami, it was sad to see her on the brink of tears yesterday in class. I intended to write her a condolence letter, was wondering if it was appropriate for a student to do so. Still going to do it anyways, does anyone have any advice? been looking at sample sympathy letters online but they all seem to assume it's for a death. A stronger earth-quake hit the earth a few decades ago in South America, stronger and wider than the one here. Hundreds of thousands of people were wiped out.
It's not because we are more populated that they occur, it's simply the more human beings exist, the bigger impact these are going to have on us. We need to find better ways to predict and prepare for such catastrophes.

This happened because of a naturally occurring disaster. Japan is quite close to a fault line in the middle of the pacific ocean. That means where 2 tectonic plates meet. They are always in motion and always shifting, causing mini-earth quakes throughout the mantel and earth. But when one gets 'stuck' and stalls, it releases massive was of seismic energy, that circled out of the ocean and eventually lead to a tsunami hitting japan.
I can't prove whether or not god exist, but there is a perfectly scientific and reasonable explanation for this. Changing our ways, our customs, our lifestyles won't prevent natural disasters anymore than virgin sacrifices would.
If you're truly concerned about these peoples lives, do your best to donate and contribute to them rather than telling people to follow out-dated arbitrary ancient mythological beliefs.

This happened because of a naturally occurring disaster. Japan is quite close to a fault line in the middle of the pacific ocean. That means where 2 tectonic plates meet. They are always in motion and always shifting, causing mini-earth quakes throughout the mantel and earth.
