I really like the pacific gas and electric version (Stagolee). Stagger Lee is the most bad ass dude ever. He would kick Bad Bad Leroy Browns ass!

I have to agree that none of these singers compare to Lloy Price. The others make the song sound so sterile, no soul, very plain. This version leaves me saying "Oh that was quite pleasant". Not "WoW" like this song should make ya feel.

Are you people arguing about which blue-eye-soul cover is the best? These artists are to be commended for honoring great music; but they are, at best, a shadow of the Blues masters.
Stagger Lee is the embodiment of the bad-ass black hoodlum folk hero. You need to go back to Lloy Price, Wilson Picket, or Mississippi John Hurt to get the full emotion. And read the back story of the real murder.

Yes,Bill recorded "Stagger Lee" but it was not a hit for him.
It was written by Lloyd Price who also
had hit with it.

Thank you SO much for having one of the ONLY songs from Four Chords here! I love the original AND remake! Huey does it justice! Remember when Lloyd Price came to his PBS Special? It was amazing! Please if you have anymore from that album, feel free to share! That one's hard to find on the tube! :)

In Lloyd Price's version the back up singers say "Go Stagger Lee!" but in Lewis' version they say "Whoa Stagger Lee!" Interesting change.
