I liked the first one because it actually had a late 30's early 40's feel to it. However this one feels like they tried to be way too modern. I don't think I will be playing this second one for that reason.

There is set missions but you don't have to do them to get enjoyment from the game. You can go around taking over businesses and killing other gangs/blowing up their rackets. This is different from GTA IV because you control one person aswell as your entire crew and the rest of your mafia.
