This is THE worst phone I have ever owned in the 15ish yearsw/ mobile devices; as well as the worst customer service I have ever experienced in the 10+ years I have been w/ Sprint. Strike three here we come!
I have had the moment for 4 months now, got it USED and FREE from a family member, and it is absolutely perfect. Have not had a single problem, decent battery life, fast and responsive... and fantastic on WiFi.
Add 91Pandahome to it to customize, Android 2.1, and you have an even more fantastic device.
I do agree that their customer service sucks though.

Perhaps you didn't notice that the radio crashed once or more per day, preventing you from using wifi, 3g, or phone functions until reboot? Or maybe the OS would just crash and reboot on its own before you did? Growing reboot times [seems to grow based on how many apps you install], eventually breaking the five minute marker... Etc....
Had mine replaced twice. Upgrade to EVO Shift = heaven.

The radio problems have happened to so many other Moment users that they even came up with a name for it: "Unwanted Airplane Mode". Look it up. Also, ~256MB RAM on the phone should be more than enough to sustain radio functions, a task manager, and the stock launcher...

this guy shows the youtube vid and it looks sharp. The pixilation on youtube sux unless u r connected to wifi (in that case, the pic is beautuful!!) The phone is awesome otherwise. Lotsa apps and moves fast when u r loading up e-mail, ect. I just wish Sprint would clear up their t.v., that really needs improvement!
I have a samsung moment..the battery life SUCKS..and anyone with a Moment will agree!!..besides that..this is a GREAT phone! you'll have a love/hate relationship with the phone..downloads quickly,internet access is also swift..texting is messenger styled..it drops calls OFTEN..if you dont want your phone just to talk on..then this is a great entertainment phone.

But with a 650mhz proccessor and a yr later without anymore upgrades, its a dead phone. Kinda like the iPhone 3G with ios4 only worse. The moment has an 800 mhz pro. and thats like only a step below snap dragon. Basically the moment is still a great device and the hero is dead.

I'm getting this phone when my upgrade comes in. Right now i have the sumsung exclaim, I got it a few months ago and I'm having so many problems with it.
this phone definitely has an AMAZING screen.. my only problem is the lack of a custom UI. HTC did a brilliant job with Sense, and I'm pretty sure Samsung is more than capable of coming up with a beautiful ui. it probably would have made it cooler than the Hero (nicer screen, keyboard).. but the lack of a custom UI really lowers is appeal to me
verizon doesnt not have the nexus one, not yet anyway, when they do sprint will get it also. Sprint also has a 4.3 inch screen android phone coming out google 'sprint supersonic'
the HTC has soooo much problems with it.... my cousin had it for 2 days and it crashed and started to smoke and this phone ouldnt do it becuz my friend had it for 2 months and his is still perfectly fine the only way it can get messed up is if u drop it or sumthing but if u dont its perfectly fine lol!

Most apps are free, althought there are some you could buy $.50 to $10 at most. As far as youtube goes, its great. The video quality really depends on the video itslef. I the video is good then it'll be good on the phone too.
does it have threads for texting? to me this is very important but cant find the answer anywhere...if it does use threads (aka chat-style texting), i think this phone is perfect. if not? another let down by samsung.
Okay HTC has a touch screen keyboard which may cause LOTS and LOTS of typos this on the other hand has a slide in and off keyboard and it has about two memorys..I think and the music you download from your computer can easily become your ringtones you wont have to buy anything.
Yes the battery is good I can do tons of battery hungry apps and the thing last forever!! like solid 12+ hours doing tons of web,streaming video,games,gps,ect. If you get one, don't let the battery meter fool you its a bug. ill be at 5% and the thing will last another 3-5 hours streaming stuff. and the meter will drop quickly or what not like today I was at 60% for over 5 hours. the phones battery last surprisingly long for the hardware. You got 30 days to try it out :-)

Those people dont know what they're talking about. my friend got one too. his battery runs great also. people on androidforums say they are getting decent life too but the battery meter isnt accurate.
I just got this phone and so far it is a pretty solid phone. Not a fan of the heat sensitive touchscreen but at least it has a keyboard unlike the Hero. It is rather quick accessing apps/websites, which is a nice change. I had the HTC Touch Pro and I kept having the same problems with it over and over again. They keyboard is odd but it will probably just take time getting used to it. I look forward to seeing what all this phone can do.
Hi yes i actually work with Sprint. The moment requires a data plan no matter what any smart phone requires it. Sprint offers the 99.99 simply everything plan but with the anymobile anytime deal you can bring your individual plan down to 69.99 a month with 450 minutes but thats only 450 minutes towards landlines only and as i live in louisiana after katrina no landlines are really available because people got use to cell phones but as long as your on a data plan you can get it

i'm not looking at the keyboard at all when i'm printing something and English is not my native language at all so i just wrote it as i remembered it. sorry if you can't get over it and it bothers you that much that you even need to ask that question.
The keyboard is somewhat aligned odd...I mean it's not wrong...just not use to being it be placed correctly on any htc device before...hence the miss-key...
Eventually I'm sure someone at XDA will begin posting new home screens and other tweaks. I have friends with the Hero. They love it. Personally, I prefer the physical keyboard so I'm going for the Moment. Either way, they are the same price and Sprint gives you 30 days so I say pick one you like, try it, and if you don't like it, switch.
Honestly, kinda disappointed in the review. Would have been nice to have someone that knew how to work the phone. And for the people stuck on deciding between the Moment and the Hero, both have their good and bad. With the Hero, you get confidence in knowing that HTC is familiar with Android. With the Moment, you get the Qwerty and the faster processor, but you lose some since Samsung just left it vanilla Android. Both are great phones; just would have liked to see an experienced user demo this.
Yeah right the hero is better than the moment. Unless the hero provides a future technology like OLED screens and and 800mhz processor, you sir are full of it. go back to school and play in the sandbox little boy.

You have the option for both on the moment...the bonus is that you do have the option of a physical keyboard...but for the most part you can use the touch screen to type...
That samsung rep seemed to kind of fumble through this, called the camera 3.0 megapixel when it's 3.2 and didn't know how to make the keyboard appear on the screen.
I'm sure they'll be hackers who will create better ROMs just like they did for WinMo phones. In fact, since the Android is Open Source, I bet there's already tonnes of much faster ROMs out there.

"learning" a new phone. but the whole Android deal with its great apps etc. totally made me change my mind. I thought bout the Hero, but i like the keyboard and the camera flash&mirror. Suckz theirs no sense UI or TouchWiz but goin from a phone as bland as the instinst to this, i think ill b more than satisfied. cant wait for christmas!

same with me i have the 2nd generation instinct, and previously had the 1st instinct as of last xmas but its really outdated now IMO, so im getting the moment for xmas although i wanted the Hero

i had the same descion too, and i picked the hero, and i am soo glad i picked it! trust me, PICK THE HERO!!!! and if you dont LOVE it then you have 30 days tor return it and get the moment

i went to sprint and i was looking at this phone. and fell in love with it. I like this one more then the HTC Hero, because of the vibrant colors and the keyboard on the side, that slides out!(: best review I've seen lately.

Go with this one blackberry has difficultys when it comes to using the internet.This phone on the other hand has wifi which is a downfall but unlike the blackberry this phone's scrollball doesnt get fucked up easily

Most apps are free, althought there are some you could buy $.50 to $10 at most. As far as youtube goes, its great. The video quality really depends on the video itslef. I the video is good then it'll be good on the phone too.

Okay HTC has a touch screen keyboard which may cause LOTS and LOTS of typos this on the other hand has a slide in and off keyboard and it has about two memorys..I think and the music you download from your computer can easily become your ringtones you wont have to buy anything.

Yes the battery is good I can do tons of battery hungry apps and the thing last forever!! like solid 12+ hours doing tons of web,streaming video,games,gps,ect. If you get one, don't let the battery meter fool you its a bug. ill be at 5% and the thing will last another 3-5 hours streaming stuff. and the meter will drop quickly or what not like today I was at 60% for over 5 hours. the phones battery last surprisingly long for the hardware. You got 30 days to try it out :-)

@kilword Oh thats great! I read alot of reviews and 97% of them said the battery wont last 5 minutes off the charger. So it Really is just a bug, it just looks like its going to go out

Those people dont know what they're talking about. my friend got one too. his battery runs great also. people on androidforums say they are getting decent life too but the battery meter isnt accurate.

I just got this phone and so far it is a pretty solid phone. Not a fan of the heat sensitive touchscreen but at least it has a keyboard unlike the Hero. It is rather quick accessing apps/websites, which is a nice change. I had the HTC Touch Pro and I kept having the same problems with it over and over again. They keyboard is odd but it will probably just take time getting used to it. I look forward to seeing what all this phone can do.

Hi yes i actually work with Sprint. The moment requires a data plan no matter what any smart phone requires it. Sprint offers the 99.99 simply everything plan but with the anymobile anytime deal you can bring your individual plan down to 69.99 a month with 450 minutes but thats only 450 minutes towards landlines only and as i live in louisiana after katrina no landlines are really available because people got use to cell phones but as long as your on a data plan you can get it

The keyboard is somewhat aligned odd...I mean it's not wrong...just not use to being it be placed correctly on any htc device before...hence the miss-key...

The moment in my opinion. It is so much faster, plus it has a physical keyboard (if that matters to you).

Eventually I'm sure someone at XDA will begin posting new home screens and other tweaks. I have friends with the Hero. They love it. Personally, I prefer the physical keyboard so I'm going for the Moment. Either way, they are the same price and Sprint gives you 30 days so I say pick one you like, try it, and if you don't like it, switch.

Honestly, kinda disappointed in the review. Would have been nice to have someone that knew how to work the phone. And for the people stuck on deciding between the Moment and the Hero, both have their good and bad. With the Hero, you get confidence in knowing that HTC is familiar with Android. With the Moment, you get the Qwerty and the faster processor, but you lose some since Samsung just left it vanilla Android. Both are great phones; just would have liked to see an experienced user demo this.

You have the option for both on the moment...the bonus is that you do have the option of a physical keyboard...but for the most part you can use the touch screen to type...

That samsung rep seemed to kind of fumble through this, called the camera 3.0 megapixel when it's 3.2 and didn't know how to make the keyboard appear on the screen.
