@emilynmanaig you can add speed on top of speed, but there is a limit. its the cosmic speed "C" this speed limit happens to be the speed of light. if we try and add speed on to the speed of light it wont work, the speed of light is constant. your question is a valid one though, its hard to know absolute motion or absolute speed, im i dont think we are close to speed "C" at all. all we know is what is relevant to us.

All matter contains mass no matter how small (on a quantum level = quantum physics) is what you have to keep in mind so it is all energy in one form or another.
