  • i though this was live but its the original :D sounds cool

  • one of the rare cases where a live version is better than the studio.

  • can anyone link me a live version where he does this intro? please!!!!

  • am I the only one that stares at the background and the red stuff moves around?

  • 1983? 84? used to listen to this over and over before I went to sleep. I used to dream of being able to play like this, even slept with my guitar. never could.

  • George lynch rules the realm of Shredding!! Don did the rockin' rhythm so damn well!!

Two guitarists are better than one.

  • the distant fire brings memories of a love that I once knew....

  • Wonderbar! Recorded live in Germany. Don filled in on backround for Scorpions Klaus Meine when he had voice problem recording the Blackout Album.

  • George Lynch is a great guitarist and if the original members of Dokken ever reunited for a tour, I would pay for a ticket in the greater San Jose or SF area. They are from a time when musicians really used their talent and didn't try to copy each other's formula for success.

  • Oh those 80's nights!

  • i got 11words 4 ya- this time i'm in cant take no more decadence is silly

  • @silentnlurking "Decadance and sin"......C'mon....metal doesn't use the word "silly".....please......\\m//

  • @Knuckle95 yeah ok google the lyrics there knuckles or if you happeened to be around in 1984 for the 1st press check the lyric sheet.

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Guitarists: Eddie, Warren, Jake and George.

  • A lot you know dude. Joe taught Eddie how to play!

  • @Dagrah7 um..actually no. Joe never taught Eddie. He did teach Kirk Hammet and Steve Vai (and lots more) but not eddie.

  • @Dagrah7 thats a lie bro ed is self taught

  • No Joe Satriani but damn good!

  • @Dagrah7 Joe Satriani!! is a wanabe Eddie Van Halen

  • i wish there was a live video of them playing this recording!!!!!!!!

  • Lynch....what can I say ? Noone tops him...not even Eddie..

  • I love George's playing, but not many guitarists have been as influential as Eddie. That doesn't mean he's better than George, although people will argue about that forever, it just means that Eddie inspired more players.

  • 3:35-3;36 thats lynch and what makes him ...well...lynch, that 1 note he throws in

  • 3:35-3;36 thats lynch and what makes him ...well...lynch

  • Randy, Eddie, & George are the top 3 best 80s Metal Guitarists. You have to agree.

  • Zach Wylde! Kirk Hammitt, Chris Oliva, Elefson from Megadeth, and of couse Geo The Lynchmob man! Yngwie j Malmsteen, Vivian Campbell, Vito Bratta, Queensryches Lead player, forgot his name! oh well you get the pic right?!

  • O and i cant leave out one of my favs, Vinnie Vincent. that makes 16 great guitar players.

  • The big 15 for Metal Guitarists are George Lynch obviously, Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, Jake E Lee, Tony Iomii, Dave Murray & Adrian Smith, Dave Muistaine, Kirk Hammett, CC Deville, Yngwie Malmsteen, Warren DeMartini, Oz Fox, and Rex Carroll. All these Guitar players are Guitar Heroes. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @JDog1980s Some awesome players in that list, Jake E. Lee is my overall favorite, but Rhoads, Lynch Wylde, Eddie and DeMartini are some of my favorites too.

C.C. was never that great, he sounded good on Flesh and Blood, but compared to the other players at the time he just wasn't up there. I actually preferred the guitar playing from Ritchie Kotzen on Native Tongue.

Good to see Rex Carroll there, horribly underrated! One player your missing though, Harry K. Cody, absolute monster on guitar!

  • @JDog1980s Neal Shawn

  • @JDog1980s Pretty strong list except for C.C. Deville. He's not even close to the others you mention, imo.

  • @JDog1980s hahahah cc deville?

  • @JDog1980s What about Glenn and KK from Judas Priest. And Dime, and Marty Friedman and Jason Becker, and Paul Gilbert? With the exception of CC Deville I agree with you mostly, but those guys I mentioned are definitely worth of being on the list.

  • @clem070605 Yeah your right. Glen and KK had some good songs back in the day. Dime was good 4 sure. I was just mentioning more of the 80's metal guitarists.

  • @JDog1980s Don't forget Steve Clark, Phil Collen, Slash, Ritchie Blackmore, Robbin Crosby & of course Jimmy Page!

  • @JDog1980s

    You forgot tipton and downing!

  • George Lynch FTW!!!

  • Man! What an outstanding moment on the fretboard! I remember when I bought this album new way back in the early 80s, and this solo still makes the hair on my arms stand up! George Lynch is out of this world! Mr. Scary indeed!

  • lynch better than evh. his legato, his picking, his vibrato.. his techniques are better than evh's.

  • I love Eddie VH but he must kneel before King George!

  • Love that part from :35 to :45..Never really heard anyone else do those kinds of intervals..Awesome..

  • anyone know where this version was recorded?

  • @summerlinace94

berlin 1982, on the ablum breaking these chains i believe

  • Dokken is the devil's music...

  • @frostedhead yeah, please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste.

    Dokken rocks

  • have you ever noticed motley crue's red hot has the same drum patterns i think tommy stole that from mick cause they where playing this song with xciter before motley crue came about

  • @motleycrue24 Tommy's sound is better, just my opinion.

  • Rockin with Dokken ;-) . That intro solo was amazing....ly Van Halenish!

    But still awesome!!

  • @pctechnet I love Eddie. But, he can not do what George does on the guitar.

  • Was this really recorded live or just done that way?

  • DOKKEN IS STILL ROCKIN'!

  • Its eddie van halen's darkside

  • @painisflowing almost any glam rock or just pretty much ne guitar player after VH that played some kinda heavy shit can't say van halen didnt at least influence em to an extent. If you tap, tap harmonics, or ne of that shit u gotta have some kinda EVH in you. Its kinda hard not to have EVH n you.

  • @painisflowing

    "Eddie's dark side" That's great.

  • @painisflowing eddy van hallen took lessons from lynch

  • @painisflowing lol good analogy!

  • @painisflowing ....oh please...

  • kinda like evh eruption :)

  • the intro solo is probely one of my top favorite solos i think its just as good as eruption or even better

  • @motleycrue24 yeah man George rules!!!!!!1

  • @Tscorp65 no doubt about it man..go listen to beast from the east mr.scary live he plays some incredible solo in the beginning before mr.scary and throws some licks in from this /\

  • @motleycrue24 George one the best guitarist ever.

  • @motleycrue24 just bought that it is epic!

  • @kaboom6899 ya they put more of a kick in each song more than in the studio version

  • well that sound like a cat with diarrhea

  • @motleycrue24

halt doch deine fresse du trotl

  • @meisterderpimmel88 dont speak german sorry haha

  • @motleycrue24

    yaaaaaaaaa moooooooooooooooooooom

  • FUCK, WHAT FOR A GREAT SOUND.

  • Fucking loves still!! Never gets old! :D

  • 2 re-tards

  • Berry white? U lost me!

  • tabs anyone??? lol. i have a feeling they might have more of ?s and !s and @!@#s on them but its worth a try. lol.

  • Not sure who's more amazing from this era, George Lynch or Paul Gilbert (Racer X). Look up Paul Gilbert - Scarified. It's hard to pick between Mr. Scary and that tune.

  • i wanna see the youtube vid of this song but i cant find this version anywhere!!! D=

  • Opening solo by Lynch is amaziiiiiiiinnnnnggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Rrhoadsfan13 I'm not always a big fan of unaccompanied guitar solos, but here the intro solo is probably the best part of the song.

  • @Rrhoadsfan13 Parts of it vaguely remind me of a Berry White song arrangement for some reason.

  • lynch sounded diffrent playing the boyz and xzit in the 70s

  • Best Live performance EVER. George Lynch really make that guitar Talk. An what is saying?? HEAVY METAL!!

  • buy the dokken essentials and its on their

  • DAT SOLO

  • you say rhianna i say dio you say kanye west i say dokken you say chris brown say linkin park you say you hate metal well i say its music and rap i hate so pass this on dont let metal die in vain

  • @theflytank74 linkin park? lol dude. linkin park can suck my shnuts

  • Oh nice, i find Dokken quite looks like Scorpions- melodical songs and beautiful vocals

  • the studio version is a 10000 times better than this

  • Hell Yeah,,2 Thumbs Up !!! George Lynch was one of the greatest guitarist that ever played.

  • mmmm Facemelter.

Heard this one off an old metal injection podcast, back when it was still new.

  • this song can be found on the 1982 debut Dokken cd "Breaking the Chains". Its song 10 on the album and is 5:11. Any version of this song that doesnt have that solo in it is not worth anything.

  • bad ass song!

  • My favorite Doken song

  • Damn, I remember buying this on cassette in 1984. Great band, fabulous song, and awesome guitarist.

  • Nice Lynch...

    Very nice...

  • Lynch owns your feeble soul

  • Oooohh man...so many nights drunk off my ass listening to this intro....good shit

  • this still gives me goosebumps like it did 25+ years ago. I wish they would have done this in the studio one time.

  • there is a studio version, it's just called Paris and its of Don Dokken first demo, i have it, it sounds killer

  • @campeaupwn The studio version sucks.

  • @danewson Really The audio quality of studio version really sucks

  • "Hell isn't funny"? Time has not been good to this band, alas.

  • best...solo...ever.

  • jesus christ that was incredible!

  • One of my favorite George pieces is his 4 minute solo before mr scary on Beast of the East. Kind of like a more improved polished version of this.

  • Whatta blast from the past!

Hoddamn George Lynch makes those cool fills between the song.

    Rating: * * * * *

  • This is a really deep-moving song...I love it...Love,sweat,farewells and tears...

  • george lynch vs eddie van halen in a solo whats your opinion on who would win and y

  • eddie because he is a better improve player

  • @rattnroll5150 lynch started before eddie....

  • @adfrocker133 what did i even comment on this ? it wont even show me my comment

  • 5 Stars Awsome

    George Lynch forever

  • George Lynch's frets are on fire, alot of energy in his guitar!!!

  • Fuckin'ell brother, I tell ya Lynch is hammering that axe like no other.

Back in the day when guitar heroes walked the earth.

    Love this song!

Five stars coming right the fuck up!

  • Oh they still do, just not as easy to find since commercial radio sucks dog balls.

Symphony X, Vanden Plas, Dream Theater, Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus and more all have excellent guitar players that can really tear it up

  • That ruled - thanks for posting. The guitar intro was classic "back in the day" George...

  • You guys need to watch some VH1 classic because any frequent watcher would no that Don and George did not make a good team because they hated each other which is y George left because they DID NOT GET ALONG

  • Gotta love Lynch's solo at the beginning! some of the GREATEST guitarists come from California L.A. hair metal scene.

    Randy Rhoads

    Eddie Van Halen

    Warren DeMartini

    Robbin Crosby

    Mick Mars

    George Lynch

    Chris Holmes

    Etc...

  • mick mars? mick mars aint part of no hair metal! search him dude! haha

  • @thevioletshadows mick mars is th guitarist for motley crue dumbshit yeah they pretty much started hair metal

  • well technically, def leppard kind of started hair metal, motley crue made it louder

  • @rockandrollfan93 No, Motley Crue made it sleazier and gave it a bad reputation. Not as bad as Poison though...

  • @Jamcad01 Crue is a great band, Poison is average

  • @Zrinschchuck I think both are great musically. Bret Michaels is a better singer though.

  • could you play better

  • one of the best fuckin guitar solos in the begining ever made

  • the way he plays the guiar he is allowed to be full of himself...dokken is right up there with rest of the "metal gods"...they earned the right to be full of themselves...

  • Son of a bitch has talent thats for sure

  • don dokken and george lynch made a great team--it sucks all good things must come to an end.

  • Lynch awesomeeeeeeeee

  • The intro solo is just fucking bad ass. Lynch made this band, Don was just the idiot.

  • Don had the voice and high screams though.

  • Well, a very talented idiot, nonetheless.

People tend to rip Don and praise Lynch, but I think both are excellent musicians.

And Lynch isn't any less of a prick than Don.

  • for sure dons full of himself

  • mmmm just like metal injection

  • Lynch is rippin shit up in this...

  • Long live Dokken true Monsters of Rock!

  • compare it to the actual studio version way different :p

  • D: they've done a studio version?

  • yeah it's on youtube titled "Paris" instead of Paris is burning (original title)

  • awesome intro...

george lynch is one of the greatest guitar player of all the time

  • Rokken With Dokken 4-Ever !!!
