  • An interesting and thoughtful video. You have a rational outlook but an open mind, unlike so many self-styled rationalists and freethinkers on Y.T. I used to think that tarot cards were irrational and they are not part of my religious outlook. But I once had a 'reading', over the phone, that left me convinced there is something in them. I don't have the space here though to go into what makes me think that.

  • @atticana Thanks for your comment. If you don't have enough space here, but would still like to talk about it, I gladly accept private messages and emails.

I personally don't believe there is anything to tarot cards, nor has there been sufficient evidence in the scientific realm to show that there is, but as per the video, if there was somw connection between tarot cards readings and events in one's life, I would consider that connection to be 'natural'.

  • I think anything interesting is worth investigating, and NDE's are certainly interesting. But to my knowledge they have been investigated at least somewhat and the findings aren't supportive of actual disembodied consciousness.

Whatever the real cause of the experience, our knowledge of that cause would be very valuable.

  • Does your name mean god-eater or something?

  • Yes, yes it does.

My real name, "Daniel" also means "God is my judge".

  • How do you feel about scientific explanations that are untestable or undetectable? A lot of people consider the Big Bang Theory to be a fact, and say that there is no evidence or indication that a divine power created/tweaked things.

However, in order for the Big Bang Theory to work, several invisible and undetectable forces/energies need to be present in the universe.

Why do you feel that the invisible, undetectable presence of God is ludicrous, but these forces/energies are acceptable?

  • If a thing it itself invisible and undetectable, but it interacts with other things, then it is not truly undetectable. Dark Matter for example, interacts gravitationally, but not electro-magnetically.

If God truly wants to remain hidden and not interact detectably with the universe, then He certainly could do so, but then He would be indistinguishable from something imaginary.

The question is less what 'really' exists and more what is it reasonable to believe exists.

  • Many believers make claims that, if they were true, would constitute a direct, measurable interaction between God and the universe. If God really exists, I would expect more things like this. Unfortunately, all studies on these claims have failed to show their truth.

  • alright, its going to take too long to respond in comments so I will message you my response.

  • I prefer messages and emails rather than text comments for actual discussion anyway.

Comment blocks should only be used to tell me how smart, wonderful, and sexually potent I am.

  • But Dark Matter IS undetectable. There is no device that can "detect" Dark Matter or Energy. Sure, things like gravitational lensing and microwave ripples are detected by other instruments, but scientists simply say "oh, these are caused by Dark Energy!" without any real proof.

I just find it kind of hypocritical. If I said, "God is an invisible force in the universe that holds galaxies together", you would think I was nuts.

But if i say, "Dark Energy is an invisible force in the universe..

  • ...that holds galaxies together", you consider it scientifically plausible. And even though we have no idea what God or Dark Energy is, you accept one as possible science while the other is complete bullshit.

Ignoring the Christian, Jewish, and Islamic ideas of what God is/looks like, why is the idea of a higher power ridiculous? Dark Matter and Energy are already boarderline-higher powers, as they have properties like nothing else in the universe, and effect it in physics-defying ways.

  • "But Dark Matter IS undetectable."

False. I can't easily post links in the comment section, so PM me and I'll give you the information. Hey, I thought you were going to PM me about stuff anyway; what happened to that?

As for Dark Matter and Energy, no they do not act in "physics-defying ways", nor are they anything like an intelligent being which is the usual meaning for a "higher power".

  • Excellent video, I really enjoy your videos. You deserve much more subscribers and I am sure in time you will.

  • Thanks, I do the best I can. I also take reqests if anyone has something they want my opinion on. I'm trying to make videos at a less glacial rate.

  • I thought this was a good description of naturalism and god of the gaps. Props to you!

  • p.s. I think its funny all the related videos to the right are about the television show "Supernatural".

  • Why thank you! I can't believe I forget to edit the "pause" bit. Oy vey!
