  • 0:23 Mel Gibson plays the cello.

  • this was awesome to see in person Love Les!

  • 1:47 The cameraman dies, because he can't withstand the awesome power of Les Claypool.

  • 5:58 Les Claypool starts to hypnotize. At 6:16 i succeeded

  • the guitar guy scares me :(

  • I really wish he didn't let Mirv play with him on stage. His playing sounded absolutely dreadful. Even Les started to look a bit pissed off with him. He was just making horribly irritating noise and calling it a solo

  • @Numlocq It's the no talent homage to Tom Morrello

  • @sergio4266 Funny you should say that, first thing I said when I saw him was that he reminds me of a talentless Tom Morello lol

  • @sergio4266 this guy's 'solo' is a disgrace.. Though even as a fan of Morello, I sometimes find him a little annoying :P

  • @Lawldudz hahah agreed! Sometimes I hear a Morello solo and I think to myself, "dude, kill using the killswitch and just freakin play."

  • @sergio4266 This is an interesting topic for me, care to elaborate please? :3

I myself think the solo is funny and cool in it's own way, but I also wondered why he played so 'badly' here while I seen him being able to play great before.

  • @Falonefal It reminds me of a performer I saw in the subway the other day---this person was homeless, had clearly found the guitar, and was playing random notes in the hopes of getting money (which I gave him because I felt badly for him). The guitar solo is off key and constitutes pure random shi*. Even the crappy cello solo ("hey look, i found an effect that makes this sound like a trumpet, listen to me play sixteenth notes!") was better.

  • @sergio4266 The point is, MIRV is not a bad guitarist, I've seen him do some very awesome solo's as well.

Which makes me think that he was simply trolling like every performer sometimes does.

Even Victor Wooten and Les Claypool have fucked around on stage sometimes just to fuck with the crowd.

Either that or his guitar was fucked up/he couldn't hear or himself/or maybe indeed he just wasn't acquainted with that particular key.

  • @Falonefal Claypool's solo so clearly outclasses both of the prior solos. He plays in the same key, expands on the theme of the song, and totally owns it. Then again, perhaps the point---surround yourself with scrubs and you'll shine even brighter! For every Victor Wooten there's a "Futureman" nearby....

  • I'd be out of sweat by the end of this tune live.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Primus in '95 during the Tales From The Punchbowl tour. Les played the Master of Puppets lead guitar on his bass there as well. A concert that I will always remember.

  • best solo ever?

  • 6:51 ...omfg which song is this? i have to know it... :(

  • @88Jacku88 "Glide" by Pleasure. I agree, it has one of the greatest bass lines :)

  • @88Jacku88 its one better lol its just he does it different than the studio album live

  • so fucking great!

  • 6:18 EPIC FACE:D

  • what. is. he. wearing... HAHA that's the les i know

  • Exactly 420 likes....how perfect

  • goddamn claypool sucks. he can't even sing, this is fucked up "music"

  • @JJDC420 - Les is MORE!

  • CLAYPOOL is THE ABSOLUTE BEST BASSIST on the ENTIRE PLANET!

  • yeah he is indeed an shiny beacon of heavenly delight send my the gods(((for bassplayers anyways!))) 8p

  • such a shity band. so gimicky. with the outfits and the muisc is just awful

  • @S0u11ess Elaborate

  • @S0u11ess Damn dude! You've been on just about every claypool vid! You must be pretty comitted to getting the full experience out of trolling. Why don't you just go listen to the music that you do like then. Seriously, if his music puts you through such hell, why not just stop watching every fucking video he is included in. And, you're only argument for why he sucks is, "He overuses the G-string! That is bass blasphemy! waaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Just shut up.

  • lmao that guitarist looks like he had to take a major dump throughout that whole solo

  • lol 4:27 les mouths "Go" to that guitarist

  • cello sounds like sax in this one

  • Is it young Mark Knopfler in the cello?lol

  • The guitar solo actually made me fast forward through a Les Claypool song good lord.

  • @JJDC420 I envy you sooooo much right now

  • Mel Gibson plays a golden cello???????????

  • guitar solo : awful

  • @rockkkkkk Does it matter? People play in their own different ways. Are you famous like M.I.R.V. ?

  • @SaweetTooth well this guy just looked like he was lost and showed it as well in the way he played

  • @SaweetTooth btw wtf is MIRV

  • @RottenHamburger Thats the guitar player

  • @SaweetTooth lol he sucks so much..

  • @RottenHamburger Look up the "Hendershot" video...

  • CADILLAC

  • I'll tell you what folks, you better start appreciating this goddamn guy because he's our modern day Frank Zappa. Frank's dead, so get behind this genius!

  • id like to see a ler solo on this one i think he could do better than this guitar player(not that this one is bad)

  • @RATMblink182 i agree completely

  • I love how they end it, with that last note. I love the expression of the note that just says, "Nothing happened here" So. funking. Awesome.

  • Les is amazing, and it's hilarious. He plays the bass line to the song Glide by Pleasure throughout the first part of his solo

  • @JJDC420

Haha, why a waffle house? He just came in for breakfast or something? Also, I was totally born that year. :P

  • @JJDC420

Sounds like a beyond fantabulous smoking sesh. I can only hope it was weed.

  • the roo is to hot...people crowd around the shade from those three massive trees like they are in a slave boat.

  • I smoked with him back in '03 or '04, super cool dude

  • Les will ALWAYS be the man!!

  • @JJDC420 smoke what? 0_o

  • whoa! what kinda pedal do you suppose they ran the cello through?! I'd love to give mine a spin on that frequency.

  • @brynnheyes It almost sounds like he's got an octave pedal going.

  • whoa! what kinda pedal do you suppose they ran the cello through?! I'd love to give mine a spin on that frequency. Les for Prez!

  • @JJDC420 Please elaborate!

  • @m1k3ywr19h7 The sound is a little bit out of sync. Sorry about that. I hear ya... it's a bummer. Something went wrong with the encoding and I lost the original source in a hard drive crash. Just lean back from your screen and don't watch so close. :P

  • @tremans it's not terribly out of sync tho, I've def seen much worse

  • @m1k3ywr19h7 you're kidding right. how could they even have a bass track that would stay synced with a jam like that. you are an idiot

  • @m1k3ywr19h7 How dare you.

  • @m1k3ywr19h7 yea, he wasnt playing...wtf....music appreciation fail m1

  • On the eighth day God said "I'm gonna get me one better" Then he created Les Claypool.

  • @MetalMulishifiy that would mean Les is immortal! O_O

  • the guitarist is ruining all the music with his solo...

  • CLAYPOOL IS GOD

    oh and primus sucks

  • @ManBearPigInc dude what are you talking about primus is awsome

  • @ions1324 *facepalm*

  • nice

  • @ManBearPigInc (/)_-)

  • @ions1324 i remember my first beer

  • @ions1324 Yo FAIL

  • I hate Les. He is too good.

It took me 4 hours to learn this song with bass and it doesnt sound like anything this smooth.

  • @JJDC420 SAAAY WHAAAT?!?!?! when?

  • Cuz iv got the biggest balls in town

  • this song sounds like it should be in beavis and butthead.

  • what the hell is that guitarist doing in the solo...

  • this drummer doesn't get enough credit!

  • Am I just stoned, or does Mirv make some funny faces

  • @191601916 Mirv had a doctors appt just after this show to try and remove a log that got stuck up his butt but the doctors said "if we pull it out he will loose his body structure and be a pile of jelly on the floor." An hour later Claypool said "no pain no gain" and pulled it out himself just so he could rid himself of the worst musician he ever played with.

  • @scla6986 besides the fact that les has played with MIRV before and MIRV is an excellent guitarist

  • @Dillbob1 Well how about that, the log talks.

  • @scla6986 interesting, insults are the only things that people throw around on here anymore, base ones at that. now what we both said are just opinions, nothing more. i was merely disagreeing with you because the comment was fairly stupid and i think MIRV is a great guitarist. if he wasnt, les probably wouldnt have played with him

  • song is so nasty (in a good way). Sends chills down my spine!

  • êtes-vous prêts pour ça???

  • people should start playing this while baby sleep to make them smarter

  • that's some incredible musicianship!

  • thats the best bonnaroo gig of les...very good with MIRV and Paulo!

  • man they hit a sick pocket on that groove ... kinda like a better bootsy collins or something ... it was spacey!!!

  • i love this song. i dont think there is a voice who fits les's music like his own. im 17. people in my age need more great music like this.

  • this video would have been so much better if Lers fuckn guitar was at the sound he wanted in the middle there. didn't sound right to me. Not to him either, Its still fuckn bad ass. I jus dont think it was on the right setting he wanted ya know?

  • @Brided23 this isnt a primus song, its one of les's other projects. its not ler's guitar solo, that was an improv by MIRV

  • @Brided23 have you ever seen ler? does that look like ler?

one better was off 'of whales and woe'

  • This would have been so much better if Lers guitar wasnt fucked up. I could tell thats not the sound he wanted in the middle there. Still fuckn cool

  • fuckin' a seen Les at a theatre show on 06/09, it was titts!

  • les is the wine of bassists, only gets better with age, keep on jammin les!

  • @JJDC420 It's story time.

  • @JJDC420 It's story time.

  • excellent. pretty sure I was there somewhere.

  • Is the guy on the chello/violin thingy sittin down the same guy that wears the mask/tux playing the same-type instrument on the new album? let me know, I'm not sure and am curious to know.

  • @MrGnomemeat yeah he is, his name is sam bass

  • Hercules claypool , half god, half animal...

  • @CoolKodiak and half a head of elvis

  • Awesome, great, genius, best band ever.

  • what is the guitar player doin?? at 4:55 5:59 ???? wtf

  • VM Rocks!

  • I wann see the real face of Les once...

  • @GRigori0s10 oysterhead-pseudo suicide (les unmasked)

  • @GRigori0s10 Google It

  • yup.

  • Fuckin excellent !!

    Awesome.

  • At 6:50 is starting chorus bass line from track Glide by band Pleasure. Followed by Les's bass cover of Metallica's Master of Puppets at 7:20 :o)

  • The Master Of The Puppets intro at 7:28 made me smile :)

  • 6:51 sounds like a part of the victor\reggie wooten bass\guitar battle

  • @Dillbob1 That song's name is glide by pleasure i think.

  • the part where les and the guitarist are just staring at each other is beastly

  • I have seen Les Claypool In Bologna 3 days ago!!!!!! He played this song!

  • yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • during the guitar player's solo, he looks like hes going to kill someone. this is so damn awesome.

  • I'm going to get Les tattooed on me with his pig mask from bonnaroo 2008. BONG!

  • yessss thats music haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :-)

  • holy shit my two instruments that I love playing together xD God i'm going to learn this on my bass AND my cello!!

  • @cooooook123 I'' learn the guitar and drums, and we shall have a band going there bro.

  • @superstriker00

I would if I had a drum set I had access to all the time. The guitar part wouldn't be too bad.

I still can't play this on my bass though..... cello part ain't so bad.

  • @cooooook123 I don't own a bass but I love playing them... Hm... If only you lived in southern carolina. XD

  • what is the effect that he uses, at 2:50 ish

  • @zendric64 auto-wha

  • If you're talking about Les, it sounds like signal sensitive flange.

  • Listening to it again, it does sound like envelope, but signal sensitive rather than auto-timed.

  • auto-wah, but for a bass it's called an envelope filter.

  • 3:56 to 4:10 was unbeleivable, im begging anyone who can tab this to send it to me

  • Comment removed

  • it is possibly to tab cello, its just like any other stringed instrument, its quite frowned upon, but it can be done

  • @VortexTrickster or gove up with tab and notation and train your ear to learn everything you hear, from a ring, to a classical song to some sperimental sound very musician use notation only for evenience... i ever used my ear and i can learn everything, from mozart to dream theater to cartoon soundtracks... :)

is not so important to learn notation, even i'm studying it

  • @MorbosDevilGrinder Can you say that again, in english?

  • @Bungle41582 excuse me, but i'm not english... but i don't think that you can talk italian as i can talk english... so fuck youself, because i can do a thing more than you...

lets talk with me in italian, i am curious to hear (or read) what you'll write/say...

    understood? so shut up

  • @MorbosDevilGrinder How do you really feel?

  • @MorbosDevilGrinder Mamma era molto buona a letto, dirle ha dimenticato la sua biancheria.

  • @Bungle41582 ah ah ah ah! you wrote "mom tasted good in bed, TO SAY FORGOT underpants"

you used translator... you're ridicolous... i'm superior... just shut up...jackass

  • @MorbosDevilGrinder Oh no, you got me...I've been called out for being a jackass on the internet...whatever shall I do

Superior...lol...knowing more than one language doesn't make you superior, nor show a greater intelligence. The fact that you emo'd out at my comment that was clearly a joke shows you inferiority...

Why are we even arguing this shit in comments, you got anything else to cry about do it in a private message, don't fuck up everyone else's experience of this amazing video

  • @VortexTrickster Being a better musician has little to do with reading notes.

  • @wesselbindt it has everything to do with reading notes

  • @dalloway89 Nope.

  • @dalloway89- no it doesn't. just because you can read notes doesn't mean you can improvise and stuff like that. Les Claypool can't read music but yet you watch and admire him. there are a lot of musicians that cant read a damn lick of music but yet they are some of the best. i will admit it helps a lot and you can do more if you know how to read music. but

  • @VortexTrickster - just adding something- not just learn to read music because its alot of work but just go and jam with people and find you're style. you could even watch somebody play it and pick it up that way. and that will make you a ton better. but yes stop with using tabs all the time but you can still use them learn everything and you will be good.

  • @VortexTrickster

or just learn to play, i write very technical shit, doesnt phase me what the notes are if its right its right,

  • @VortexTrickster well said. more to the point, how do you tab a fretless instrument?

  • you don't. You just train your ear and become badass.

Aka learn more songs, jam with different musicians/try to learn bass lines from just listening=profit

  • @MrGnomemeat it was kind of rhetoric lol, but thanks all the same ;)

  • @VortexTrickster You dont need theory to be a better musician. Many successful and talent musicians are self taught without theory.

  • @sociopathix Prince and Paco DeLucia couldn't read music, nough said, tabs are just as good (if not better for guitar because fingerings are already tabbed out) then notation, just because its new, doesn't mean its wrong

    ahhh good show

  • @electricbumblebee I never said theory was better then tabs. I dont know theory.

  • @VortexTrickster i suppose it would be able to but you would have to add in shifts... which would be confusing. and if you knew how to shift chances are you would be able to read music to some extent. i play cello btw. and have played in carnagie hall so... i know a bit about it.

  • @VortexTrickster Ask les if he knows notation... :P

There are a lot of people who have the knowledge but just don't have the skill. Being able to read notation doesn't have much to do with your musical ability.

  • @wrathchild368 Being able to read music actually doesn't have that much to do with knowledge of music theory as you'd think

  • jackass

  • Reminds me of Hot Rats.

  • @theoriginal72

    Hot Rats de Frank Zappa??

  • Oui.

  • Gumbo Variation, especially.

  • "Those damn blue collar tweekers are runnin this here town."

  • dance party status. this man has my undying allegiance. whomp whomp!

  • Awesome

  • From 6:02 onwards, it was the weirdest guitar battle I've ever seen, lol... =P
