    be adviced

  • CREATINE MONOHYDRATE WORKS BEST take it from a former GNC employee and 10 year recreational bodybuilder. all other forms other than CREATINE MONOHYDRATE POWDER are ineffective, over priced, and less effective.

  • What do you think about the drug Oxadrin aka Oxandrolone? I want a prescription for it. I’m 5’6, 200lbs. I’m a healthy male and pretty lean for that weight. I run and weight train 5 days a week. I want the drug to offset protein catabolism when I diet for bodybuilding contest. Most doctors blow me off before I can plead my case and show the research on the drug. They don’t understand I don’t want to to gain more weight but instead to maintain my muscle mass.

  • I would like to see your citations on the studies. I do not say this arrogantly trying to challenge you but I want to learn more on what you are talking about.

  • Ventur: ur gna eventually get something wrong with ur body!

  • i take creatine and im 12

  • i take creatine and im 12... ive been taking it for a year

  • great video!!!

  • Thanks for clearing all that up for me!

  • what would happen if you use creatine for 1 month then stop taking it. will you loose all the muscles that you gain from the last month on creatine

  • Ehhhhhhhhhhhh .... what's up Doc?

  • creatine does not have anabolic properties. Creatine has energy properties. Creatine also has ZERO calories. Its main job is to supply ATP energy for explosive muscle contractions, sprinting weight lifting etc. The creatine has to build up in your body for it to be effective. Thus you can take it any time during the day 5 grams lets say, you dont have to load. Creatine is also found in foods red meats. A side affect from creatine is some water retention in the muscles whitch studies show

  • ..can be beneficial for oxygen and nutrients to travel in. Its theoried the muscle fascia can also be stretched with the volumization and allow more growth. Im not sure if this is PROVEN but alot of bodybuilding gurus talk about it. Also the main thing is creatine does not work on a negative feedback mechanism. This means taking in extra creatine through food or suppliment does not shut down its own production like steroids do. Creatine is one of the worlds most studied and used suppliments.

  • @SpartanLife1821 You seem to know a lot about creatine. I was wondering if you loose your gains after stopping the use of creatine? Also ive heard some people say that there are some negative side affects...what would those be if any?

  • Reezie78 its important to understand creatine or any suppliment does not yield steroid like gains where you gain pounds of muscle in a month. Creatine allows you to maybe crank out a extra rep or two on sets and helps your muscular endurance. I find it helps you keep your weights up near the end of your workout because your ATP energy reserves are higher. So you will really see the benefits of "extra muscle" after a few months of regular use. And even then its very modest. Creatine can cause-

  • upset stomach, dizziness and diahrea, but i emphasize this is common with the loading practice of 5 grams a day 5 times a day.(personal experience) So a total of 25 grams a day for a week then revert to 5 grams a day. Loading can cause dehydration and thus the side effects. If you dont load and only take 5 grams a day your muscles will take little longer to get saturated with creatine. But you wont get any side effects also this way.

  • I have been on and off creatine personaly for 5 years and when you go off it your strength will drop a little bit, But your not gonna loose the muscle you gained of it like its a hormone or steroid. Muscle tissue is hard to build and it does not just vanish that quickly. You just wont build new muscle the same way you were on creatine. If you have pre-existing kidney problems then creatine can make it worse, but for healthy individuals its safe.

  • Last important thing everybody has a different ability to store creatine in the muscle. Some people are more receptive then others, also some people who already have high creatine levels to begin with *its found in meats* may not find a difference because thier creatine stores are already toped off.But for a vegetarian it will make a HUGE difference because thier levels will be lower. Also regular use of creatine does improve the bodies ability to store greater amounts over time.

  • @SpartanLife1821 what about taking it with glutamine? I don't see any problems, but I was just wondering.

  • @95stangude Taking it with glutamine is not a problem. Glutamine is just a amino acid anyways (the most abundant in the human body). I usualy mix creatine, glutamine and protein all in one shake after a workout.

  • @SpartanLife1821 thanks for the info man!!!

  • @95stangdude Taking glutamine with creatine at the same time is useless. They both rely on the same transports, so if you take both at the same time, one of them is going to lose, or you won't get an efficient amount of either. Taking glutamine and creatine is fine, but try to take them at least 2 hours apart.

  • @Bromnax I actually read that they acomplish different tasks, although they are quite similar, and have some identical functions, but I'm only taking creatine half an hour or so before exhaustive workout, and glutamine only when I go to sleep.

  • great comment

really shows you know what you are talking about, not like all the other dumbshits that talk straight bullshit..

  • Hey doc do you supplement creatine?

  • sorry for my bad english ;) ,

hope some people know what im talking about,

creatin maybe not bad, but for sure not great, and never healthy ;)

  • hello doc soory for taking u r time i m 18 should i take creatine if yes then wht kind of creatine if nt then hw cn i burn my fat i m 68 KG juz the stomach has lots of fat soo plz tell me wht to do thank uuuuuuu soo much

  • can you take Creatine when your 15 years old or do you have to be a pacific age

  • Well, i'm a kayker and our trainer tells us to drink why protein and creatine. I am 15 years old also.

  • no!! under 21 should not use creatin!!! thats stupid..

a serios training is the basic.. take proper food and protein,,

take creatin needs a lot of experience, about training and your body..

before you take that stuff, ask somebody who had a real knowledge and experience with that.. (bodybuilder, martial artist)..

  • WHat kind of healthy supplemenst can a 17 year old take

  • @sotiri04 you can take proteins, weight gainer and stuff, also proper food..i was take creatin (monohydrat) too, you became mass( looks more like fat) ,good pump effekt and more power, but,,creatin saves water in your cells, you need a lot of water,,side effekts are high blood pressure and dry out, if you stop taking that stuff, the water in muscles and cells comes slowly out with your urin, and a lot of mass go away,, :), i think proteins are much better for a standing muscle mass.

  • Thats what i want to get TONE!!

  • protein is always good when you excersice, especially when you lift weights

  • I am a Bear :)

  • Try Now Foods' micronized creatine powder from iherb. Use coupon code YAN312 to receive $5 off your order. :)

  • nice facts, but dont take it too much :)

  • is apple juice a good thing to take creatine with... if not what is and please dont say grape cuz i just got some and it has citris which is bad with creatine

  • i'm not an expert but basically anything with sugar in it as sugar causes an insulin spike which helps the creatine absorb. so apple juice should be good

  • you can take it with whatever you want. obv. not a soft drink. but i take it with water, powerade, and gatorade.

  • I feed my 5 year old son that shit all day

  • lmao. you are my idol.

  • lol

  • so just take creatine and we live forever :D thats nice haha :P

  • I think this doctor may´ve been payed before for creatine approval. His duty is also to say the hypothesis of side effects of creatine even if those aren´t confirmed. His explanation can encourage parents to give they children creatine, and as long as i know that´s not safe.

  • wshen his talking about creatine he means like N.O.Explode / BETA Xtreane creatine? or something else cos 2 good 2 be true to me

  • waky bodybuilders .... dude i would soo knock you out if u called me that ... you old fart

    bodybuilding all day !!

  • giving creatine to children?? who is doing this research?

  • Why shouldn't it be given to children? It is a relatively harmless compound that is naturally present in all human cells. Excess creatine is easily processed by the body and disposed of.

Also, the children he spoke of were those that had been recruited for research because they had brain injuries, studies like this go on all the time (with the hopes of helping them). It is easy to find the studies online, try Google Scholar.

  • Creatine supplementation is not good for the liver. It also hydrates your cells, meaning a lot of the water in your body that you need is being sent to your cells, and not used for the other things. Obviously drinking more water is what you do in this situation, but young children cannot be given the responsibility (as many little kids prefer flavored drinks over water) to drink more water when the risk could be severe hydration

  • totally right!! creatine saves water in your muscles, that give you more power, when you use it alot,, but if you stop taking that, your mass go away, comes out with your urin..

i only use creatin before a hard workout, nothing more..

( sorry for my bad english ;) )

  • creatine sounds like the shit doesn't it? well in some cases yes and no

  • um, who is he talking to?

  • ha ha ha

  • @Kellyrt and people that are not love you so wy are you such a critic before you judge get to know people

  • @hecliffthecat shut up sucka fat people are mainly lazy fools

  • @lilfree22 no they are not there nice and sweet some times not all of them you on the other hand are disrespectfull and a sucka and a lazy fool sir and what ever you say back at you allways be 1 million infinity everitime you breath ok bie

  • @hecliffthecat fuck you sir you are a lazy ass fag go suck a lemon

  • @lilfree22 let me seeee??? hu I dont have a gradma so let me borrow yours!!! wich is the same thing poor old grandma you should seriously take her place like you did before, when you needed the money for your sex change buddy!!! are you pissed or do you envi me!!!!

  • @hecliffthecat by the way your grandma strips for pocket change and smokes pole's

  • @Kellyrt What an asshole!!! Is that how you make yourself feel good, picking on people who can't control their eating? Douch-bag!!!

  • @JeffSal999 They can control their eating..they just choose to eat too much shitty food.

  • Is this guy a real doctor ?

  • to me it looks like lunatic xD but i looked everywhere and it says same thing...

  • creatine is the shit

  • i believe he's talking to a group of his patients... one of his patients was the actor from Buck Rogers... the dude lost over a 140 lbs after surgery.

  • There are many types of creatine... Does anyone know what type of creatine was used in these studies?

  • Creatine isn't bad for you liver. Also, to the comment of 7cwalser's, it probably happens, but not likely. Usually if you follow the recommended dosage, you should be fine. Drinking alot of water helps, because it pumps alot of water in your muscles. I take a product called Cell-Tech hardcore by MuscleTech. And it has 7 diffrent types of creatine in it. It gave me great results so far as to body building. I also tryed 100% monohydrate creatine, wich you can only take one tsp a day. I cycle it.

  • not bad for liver, but not so great for kidneys.

  • Any creatine turns into creatine in liquids. Creatine is what can damage your kidneys. Thats why you can take purple K or Kre alkalyn, they are "ph correct", thus you dont get all the downside effects of creatine. Also, you don't have to cycle it. They are tablets, look it up.

  • sick shit nigga, thanks for the tip

  • Thats what the companies say, but there is no research backing it up, thats why Creatine Monohydrate is still the most widely used because the bulk of scientific research has been done on it.

  • anything taken in large quantities will hurt you. the reason creatine is associated with kidney problems is because a % of it converts into creatinine which is what they test in your blood to see if your kidneys are functioning. supplementing with creatine will increase your blood creatinine levels and give false readings. i have done alot of searching but have never found any proof creatinine has any ill effects on the body. krealk and EE have been proven to convert more to useless creatinine

  • Creatine damages your kidneys when you don't drink enough water. It turns into CREATININE which is excreted by your kidneys. There have been some recent studies to show that all the different types of creatine are NO BETTER than regular monohydrate. Just be sure to drink your water. Toss your purple K and Kre-Alkalyn in the trash bud...

  • @Speedeefeet If you eat the right food and preferably organic, you can just get the amino acids from that. Its natural, your body recognizes it better and you dont have to waste money on over priced supplements.

  • @Speedeefeet most supplements damage your kidneys with out without a lot of water due to the fact that you are putting a synthetic substance through your kidneys and it has to work harder to process it than the normal things you intake daily. creatine is one of the safer things to take compared to basic things like NSAIDS and stuff like that. just about any kind of pill or powder you intake that isnt from food can potentially hard your body

  • @Speedeefeet kre alkalynn, yes is a company.. but is also a type of creatine. Normal creatine is pretty much completely broken down by the time it reaches your blood stream.. but kre alkalynn, in the form it's in, is much more acid - bearing if you will to the acid of the stomach and digestive tract..further allowing more creatine to enter the blood stream once it has surpassed the liver and kidneys. So before you put him down, shut up and learn the facts.

  • @06livefast

How about YOU learn the facts. If you would actually do your research you would see that there have been scientific studies that show that KRE-ALKALYN and other forms of creatine (eg. CEE, CEM, etc.) are not effective at all. Creatine has an absorption rate almost 4000 times greater than that of CEE. Kre-Alkalyn degrades at a rate 35 times faster than monohydrate. So much for pH correct creatine. Look it up and stop blindly listening to retarded marketing schemes, buddy.

  • @06livefast You have apoint, however, monohydrate pulls the water from one source hence mono hydrate, and that's the cell. it's dehydrating you by THAT much more, so before you walk around like the next box of raisins, shut the fuck up.

  • @Speedeefeet Were did you get your information from? I have read in Flex Magazine just the opposite. That monohydrate is at the bottom, then ethyl ester, and then kre-alkalyn. That the other forms are more easily absorbed by the body.

  • @Damnationization

Search for some peer reviewed studies regarding creatine supplementation. Don't get your info from FLEX or any bodybuilding magazine for that matter. They are usually only giving you a sales pitch.

  • @Speedeefeet It wasn't in the sales thousands of sales pitches that are in the magazine but in an area of it called from Lab to Gym. They get these from actual scientific studies and then put them in the magazine and do't take about name brands. It wasn't a stupied sales pitch and there are plenty of those.

  • Why don't all find something positive to say? Did you vote for Obama?

Give he guy a break and be nice.

  • People need to wake up; yeah he's a doctor but it doesn't mean hes a specialist on this topic. Gastric bypass surgery is his profession and i bet he got paid quite a bit just to give the positive effects of creatine. "Studies show this", yet no long-term studies have been done to prove it. Intensive research he says yet the studies that are done are indefinite.

Mice live 10% longer on creatine? Is that like an extra 6 months? Lol.

  • it's a natural amino acid. Why would it be harmful?

  • Because we naturally produce it in the body and anything the body produces will be diminished if we supplement it, aka negative feedback mechanism. Other than that, no long-term studies have been done since creatine is still relatively new and would take 60 more years to come out with proof.

  • What we lack in objective evidence. We can support the efficacy with subjective use. We may not able to prove creatine's safety in a 60 year term, but it is certainly safe in the 10-20 years it's been studied. Most clinical drugs are NOWHERE near 60 years of study.

  • True that, but I guess if we really want to know if we can actually live longer like he claimed we'd need a life-long study for a more definite proof (there have been life-long studies). Lots of past drugs had subjective evidence until recent technological developments came out with better proof and new risks discovered.

  • with certain naturally produced enzymes and hormones, etc. if there is a spike in the levels the body recognizes it and stops making its own, like testosterone and steroids. i heard its often true with creatine but not too sure.

  • It definitely couldn't hurt to cycle it. I mean you certainly don't need creatine all the time.

  • creatine is also in the foods you eat

  • I did a report on creatine in college. Creatine is the one supplement that has the longest studies in comparison to others--5 to 10 years of research back it. Other supplements do not have this. They give it to MS patients, and it helps. 10% longer for a human, say if you started at around age 20 and you live to say age 90 is 7 years. Not insignificant, and your quality of life is better (youth prolonged maybe?). I took it for a while but stopped taking it because the FDA doesn't regulate

  • if you youse cardio vaculer activtys you only burn fat if you eat proprley dumbass!

  • He's talking about liposuction surgery...

  • Gastric bypass surgery is the stapling of the stomach; not liposuction. It's mainly for people who are obese and have overeating problems. It greatly limits the amount of food/drink one can take at one time. Unless the case is extreme, this type of surgery is ridiculous to undergo but these doctors will never admit to that for obvious reasons.

  • i take 50 grams of creatine a day for 2 months .

  • You are only supposed to take it in cycles. Five to six weeks.

  • Wow, that is a lot. Maybe you meant 5 grams?

  • only need 5 grams per day, the rest is excreted in your urine.

  • why must u bullshit?

  • i wasn't bullshit . right now my kidney is like 50 year old im only 20 . i suffer from lots of pain in my kidney .

  • always DRink alot of water LOL!! always when you do that shit

  • 50g a day is where you get liver and kidney damage. 5g a day is the safe level. There is no research to support taking it in cycles. There is also no regulation on the purity of supplements by the FDA, so companies could say there's 100% pure creatine and half would be salt or sand and you wouldn't know any better. They could also lace it with steroids and you'd see amazing results in the gym and not know any better. This is why I don't take GNC supplements.

  • right i want to know if creatine makes your muscles bigger and i want to know what will happen im 20 years old and i weigh 256 pounds half muscle n half fat i just want sum advise

  • its a good supplement no doubt and it will help with strength and muscle development however like any supplement when you take it for a while and then stop you will notice a decrease in strength and size quickly so people tend to become reliant on it!! in your case you probably dont need it because rather than bulking your excess weight into muscle mass you probably should just try to tone your body fat!!

  • thank you ill try toning my fat n see what happends and it is tru obout supplements you will decrease in strength and size when you stop taking them so thank you loads ill giv it a try

  • Is he a real doctor, or someone paid him to say this? I hope it is real :D

  • i just got some body fortress creatine at the grocerie store .. its a 3.17 pound powder tub for about 18 or 19 dollars.

and i was just wondering if it is a good creatine???? i they also sell it at wal-mart.

  • if its not monohydrate, then its shit.

  • $18-19 dollars? I sure hope you think it's pure...

  • Dr. R says is true. I take creatine and I can tell when I do not get it regularly, I have lost 70 in 10 weeks and all it fine.

  • Walmart for $14 plus tax, may differ where you live. Bob in Idaho

  • this statement doesnt make sense.....you fuckin cockface

  • I don't think he was paid, however, I do think he his an idiot.

  • Creatine which is in a product called "Body Fortress" 26 grams of protein per serving!

  • thats nothing, you rookie

  • Yep I am rookie, I do know if one puts 2 scoups it makes make it 72 grams of protien? Meaning, we do not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that KingALittle

What do you reccomend if you know more?

  • the best type of creatine is plain creatine monohydrate. after workouts one should take in at least 100 grams of carbs in order to spike your insulin levels to increase your protein synthesis in order to gain the benefits you were seeking to gain from the workout, if its strength, hypertrophy, strength endurance.....anything. protein and creatine are 2 different compounds best taken partially before in order for creatine to get into the blood before hand and afterwards for recovery.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • It is as listed >

    Super Recovery Blend 18 g †† 9 g ††

    (Creatine Monohydrate, Taurine, L-Glutamine, Leucine,

    Isoleucine, Valine)

  • so basically this just confirms that creatine kicks ass

  • Possibly true you all. I am averaging a pound a day loss after surgery, that is I have lost 67 lbs in 67 days. I do take supplemental Creatine which is in a product called "Body Fortress" 26 grams of protein per serving! Whey protein is an excellent source of good stuff for weight loss. Also mix with soy milk, a agreat combo! Yummm

Thanks Dr R, it does help.

  • Hi im almost 15, is it ok if i take creatine 1 gram per 2 dAYS

  • creatine is one of those things that you need to take everyday because your body will eventually flush it out. and you should slowly build your way up to a gram a day. just follow the instructions on proper dosage on the creatine product you bought and you should be fine. and im not a doctor or a creatine expert but you are probably too young to take creatine. stick to protein.

  • I think its 1 gram each day o_o

  • My physician said that Creatine is safe for me and anyone who doesn't have any real health conditions to begin with.

The whole 'side effects' issue has to do with people loading way too much... 5grams in enough.

  • Remember NEVER microwave your creatine, the microwave changes the structural dna of the creatine.

  • lol..the structual dna ?

  • yea I lol'ed too!

  • lmao, yeah "structual DNA"

  • Ok for those who do not yet comprehend, microwaving creatine preparations alters the sequences of the nucleotides in the double helix.

  • what if you heat up the creatine with water to melt the crystals, they are very hard to dissolve in cold water, possibly hard on kidney, stones maybe?

  • Comment removed

  • That is pretty freakin stupid. "structural dna" . Creatine is not an organism thus is does not have dna or rna. you probably meant the shape of it. But saying a molecule has dna is top 10 on stupid things i have come across.

  • *sigh*

I will re-edit and re-post my comment so it cannot be misinterpreted out of context.

Microwaving creatine alters it's molecular structure by way of creating genetic deficiencies in the creatine biosynthetic pathway, particularly the GAMT mitochondrial enzyme. This affected process results in a change in the molecular structure of YOUR dna as your body attempts to create and use the necessary structures to utilise the amino acids needed for creatine biosynthesis.

  • This is not very convincing. Maybe if he was in a lab and had a clipboard, or a nurse in the background I woulda believed. And maybe some testimonials from random people in a shopping mall.

  • so cliche

  • that guy got his doctor on ebay ... this is only one of a thousand creatine commercials it doesnt proof anything ... oh and dont forget about the side effects

if you re really interested in taking creatine you should be well informed and talk with your physician

  • Wow, real professional. The only thing telling me he's a doctor are the first two letters of the video title...

  • whoo!!! CREATINE!!!! PROTEIN!!!! MULTIVITAMIN!!!!

  • while just think to back 10000 years ago in europe, like way way back, we needed mad body fat too keep us warm as fat is a good insulatr, so wen people stopd eating (which was usually in the winter (no animals or vegetation we would burn muscle as its not needed 4 warmth and actualy jst takes lots of well needed nutrition. by burning muscle it slows down your metabolism and gives u energy and makes that energy last longer by removing hungry muscle tissue.

  • consider it as a new sports car with cylender mangement. when the car is going fast (fast metabolism/lots of food for hunting) it uses all its power(muscle it can get but if u were low on fuel( winter time) and drove moderatly the car can reduce its power (burn muscle) to help get the car (you) to its destination (spring time) or at least the gas station ( killing an unmirgratory animal). hopefully this all makes sense lol, but this guy sooo got a big fat check to say this, i dont buy it

  • hey if u have nutthing to write don't write at all creatine is the best product to use i use it hellerrrrrrrrrr

  • theres got to be something that fucks u up in it. every thing u put in your body that isnt natural usually has a pile of side effects due to imbalincing your body unless you have a definciency of what you suplement yourself for. yes i totally agree you will get big faster but ijust think people need a balenced argument to choose whether or not they will try it
