I love Carl Sagan and own Cosmos on DVD at home...I've always thought one interpretation of the constellation, the "reclining man" looked as though he was sticking his head up the bull's rearend.
A question to anyone that can answer. I'm new to Carl Sagan and checked Cosmos out after a recommendation from a different scientist (I forget who, probably Cox). I've obviously watched ep 1,2 and am watching 3 now. Once I've finished the series, is there anything else by Sagan worth checking out?
Any other series?
Also, can you hear the voyager music anywhere, even a c lip?
1:47 "No, no, say it ain't so, there couldn't have been time before books. I've looked it up and find nothing about then written in these books." --Non-Science Voices ;) "Ok, maybe Archeology, Paleontology, Cosmology, but tell me if a tree fell in the woods when did it fall and did it really fall or did it grow there." --Non-Science Voices. Science's Answer, "Well let me build a few tools and I'll try figure it out."
if only I could go back in time and kidnap carl sagan and we could travel the stars together... like the doctor and his companion only it would be like the old school companions less romance more me just sitting listening to him talk about what we were seeing. but then he couldn't have done as much as he did and that would be a terrible loss.
I watch this so maybe one day i can make something of myself. and MAYBE use what i learned to do some good, and show all the people who cling to their "faith" and "good book" when all else in their life goes to shit, something they can REALLY believe
We are, but it is cultural and emotional that such beliefs still hold in the hearts of selfish short lived barely conscious entities such as we. People are still uncomfortable when confronted with the frailty of their flesh, and uncomfortable with the lack of meaning their actions have to anyone besides their immediate family. Just keep calling them out on thir lack of knowledge, wisdom, and dont let them misinterpret the difference between hypothesis-theory-law. They have faith, we have proof.
thank you thank you thank you for this film. i never heard of it , i just dicovered it here and i am going to watch the hole of it when i come back from a soocer game this evening. i am from Romania and i never heard of Carl Sagan. I heard the name but i didnt know what it was about...
i will have you know, i have watched literally dozens of Carl Sagan vids on the web, and I'm not enrolled in one god damn bio class lol
I watch these purely for the joy of gaining knowledge that the majority of the ignorant fucktards of this world, will probably NEVER stray across in their meager and meaningless lives.
"I watch these purely for the joy of gaining knowledge that the majority of the ignorant fucktards of this world...." meaning 90% of the people who are on youtube?

This guy could be sitting in the bathtub washing his balls and I'd still listen intently.

@TashJonesUk You should read Sagan's book "The Demon-Haunted World".

We call it "Karla vagnen" in sweden (The carla wagon)
For whatever reason.
I wish Carl Sagan was still alive today.. :/
To meet him and maybe even have a talk about the universe would be a mind boggling experience that i would never forget.. We miss you Carl..
