Oh and by the way, this is probably both DeNiro's and William's greatest performances in my humble opinion. DeNiro is truly versatile, especially if you decide to watch Goodfellas right after Awakenings (which was released the same year). From a mentally ill patient to a wise guy. I cry like a little schoolgirl everytime I see this wonderful movie, even after the seventh time. I have never seen anything as compelling and emotional as this film. When a movie makes you cry and you get depressed (in a good way)because you want to see more, you know you've just watched a masterpiece. Even though Dances With Wolves is a good movie, it's a damn shame that the Best Picture didn't go to Awakenings. This movie is definately in the same league as OFOTCN and Shawshank.

I really adore this marvelous film. Robin Williams was great and finally Robert De Niro showed not typical for him acting - yes, he was stunning. Other least famous actors/actresses were even more impressive. This film deserved at least 8 Oscars! Of course I expected happy end but it was based on true events so it was impossible from the beginning.
