  • i love this song though i don't remeber it.(I was only 5 in 1976)

  • I remember it being played a lot on FM radio back in the day....(I was 11 in '76).

  • i love the song but i wish i could remember it.

  • This song makes me feel warm inside.

  • While I'm on a 10cc kick, here's another. When I was in HS I had a friend who liked this and we would sing it in the hallway between classes. We had a little dance step that we did to the chorus. We were such geeks. I still am. And you know that.

  • They show them hitting the tambourine but for the life of me I can't hear it.

  • At the risk of sounding like a complete douche, this song never fails to remind me that I had the best fucking 1970s childhood ever.

  • in 78 it was around like 2500 bucks fucking asshole's!

now you have be bill gate's to have one!

  • Godley and Creme went on to do the single "cry," which has a fascinating video.

  • Best use of a tambourine in a song, ever...

  • Hahaha fuck...

  • I would like to get my hands on that Les Paul it`s worth about 7K right about now

  • I remember when this song first came out, I was 10 or 11 years old. We used to sing "the thing called cuckoo love".

Great song. Brings back nice memories.

  • Not many bands would dare to use a tambourine now...

  • oh yes, they do. X)

  • i love this song, is very wonderfull, i´m fanatic this group and more de Eric stewart like compositor

  • All in "Not-So-Glorious MONO"

    ? ? ? ?

    What's the note "Stereo" ????

Most music on YouTube nowadays is uploaded in STEREO ( when available of course ) . . . . - So why not this lovely song ?

  • Take away Creme and Godley and this is what you get, utterly generic pop.

  • Charles, thanks for the other guys name...

Lol creme is the only one that I remember!

  • Yeah, his name is quite hard to forget.

  • Love this song & this group!

    5******

  • I know who came first ...and who is better is your own opinion..BUT.......Did Squeeze listen to these in their bedrooms???

  • My Friend Sent It To Me.

  • Then why you listening to it baby?

  • screw your commercials

  • Sublime; love the vocal arrangement :)

  • One of those perfect pop songs.

  • Nothing beats the 60's 70's and 80 music..

  • i agree

  • Yeahp, nothing! When you look at the shit we have to listen to now, I just want to hang myslef.

  • Couldn't agree more! Unfortunatly I kinda missed out on those eras- I pray that 2010 will be a music revolution and they'll come out w/ some better stuff then the past decade

  • Like this music?

It probably will.. the younger people from now will grow up and don't like the music anymore and the new music WILL be rock i think...

  • this is so good!

  • Amen, tayjay!

  • thing about pre-personal computer age music is that it was patient. it took its time, and it didn't beat you over the head. and it still rocked. that it is my theory, which is mine.

  • Best era for music bar none. The 70's rule!!

  • Happy New Year to Graham Gouldman and the other guys from the Jewish Lads' Brigade in Manchester!

  • am only 9 and i am a big fan of 10cc lol

  • God i wish music was like this again instead of this sucky stuff.some music of the 70's were deep

  • Whch version? Carpenter's or Zombie's

  • I like the Spectacular! cover.

  • Man, if this tune doesn't nail it, what does?

This 45 was in my high school cafeteria jukebox sophomore year....back in "77. Played the living s#$% out if it.....

  • no, it is that simple.....production operational management 101. POM is the problem to the answer that circumvents bottlenecks to create streamlines.

  • Talk u fool

  • "Communication is the problem to the answer".

    Wow...someone please elaborate?

  • Its a play on words

  • ah, were it so simple.

this is a classic lyric, a conondrum, a riddle that cannot be solved.

What is life for, if not the discovering?

    Cheers!

  • Song was in Halloween 2. Great tune!

  • I know just before watching the movie I heard the song on the radio and it got stuck in my mind, and while I was watching the tune comes up and I was like Oh C'mon !!! Great tune indeed.

  • man this dude needs some chapstick :P

  • i love this song its awesome

  • The lead singer forgot to comb his hair.

  • Oh...I haven't heard this song in YEARS!

I love this song.... I lost my virginity with this song playing in the background.

Gosh, that was a whole other lifetime and person ago.....

  • The original's great but Cadence's version just freakin' kills. Too bad they're not that well known -.-

  • 10cc was very well known, in the mid to late 1970's. They were a fantastic band.

Eric Stewart is a legendary singer.

  • I'm talking about the group of singers called "Cadence". They're not well known but imo, their version is better than this and they make brilliant songs as well

  • The weather's turned and all the lines are down--it gotta be LOVE

  • Communication is the problem to the answer...

    AMEN!

  • I LOVE Paul Carrack and think he's beautiful now. My god, we was a babe then too!

  • What has Paul Carrack to do with 10cc -or this video?

  • Paul Carrack was well known in the bands Ace ("How Long"), and Squeeze ("Tempted"), not this band. He was never a member of 10cc.

  • This song still gets much Radio Airplay on Australian Radio in 2009 :) Good Song :)

  • My first "time". Skipped school with a bunch of friends and went to my boyfriend's house. OMG it hurt but this song always makes me smile. Memories.

  • Your first time?

  • I remember this awfully well, it was big in '77 when I turned 11. Good song.

  • This song is a great tune, reminds me of someone walking together frikcling through the wet street, skipping through puddles and hugging.

  • this is my favorite song of all time. lol !

  • 10cc is the best 70's group ever,

  • 2 many broken hearts have fallen in the river

  • god i love this song have you ever sat down and thought what you would or have done for love some of it make s me go what was i thinking!!

  • I MISS MY MUSIC NOW IT IS ALL REMAKES

  • gosh what memories...music like this doesn't even exist anymore...sigh

  • man this is my summer song. last year me and my friends went up to my friends cabin. i was bragging about this song, then we heard it on the radio on the trip up. we went swimming and it came on again! 10cc rocks

  • universalmusicgroup

What year is this from? I really love this song. Up until two years ago I did not even know this song!

  • Released in UK in 1976...went #1 in August. Finally released in USA and it went #1 in July of 1977.

  • halloween 2

  • Driving in the car when I heard this song...truer lyrics were never spoken...

  • saw 10cc here in Auckland NZ 3 years ago and they were awesome. One of the most underrated groups.

  • They're back together?

    Cool...

  • lol i am 17 and i listen to classic rock :P

  • whats wrong with classic rock, seriously im 14 and its all i really listen too.

nowadays music pretty much sucks, not all of it though

  • Good for you, Kid! It's healthy for you! So be happy! Have a nice 70's day!

  • Had this on 45 vinyl, heck probably still do somewhere, yeah, I'm old... :-)

  • Try looking in your 45 Record case! Remember those?!

  • Oh yeah, had the 45 record case and that old classic, the 45 wire rack holder, too! LOL!

  • Don't forget the Ronco 45 Record Finder too!

  • We definitely grew up in the same era! It it came from Ronco, you knew it had to be good.

  • I would rather listen to my 45's (have over 200 of them) playing on my portable battery operated turnable by Realistic/Tandy/Radio Shack all day long than hearing some rap crap blasting from the radio boomboxes these days!!

  • I don't know...I just used a cardboard box!...LOL

  • I'm sure I had some of those, too! Probably even got out my special magic marker and labeled it! You know, I was gettin' my music organized.

  • were Godley and Creme still in the band at this point?

  • That's Lol Creme singing.

  • Actually it's Eric Stewart.

  • Dang! I've had that wrong for over 30 years!!

  • I love this song. Me encanta esta canción.

  • its oldies dude its supposed to sound like this its not gonna sound like that white guy who tries to make a living off stealing black guys music ....eminem.

  • normally, that would be a comment upon/or to- which I would feel obligated.

I am a smart guy, let's everyone pile on, and I will sort, tri-age style, 'cos I am THAT SMART!!!

    I defy you!!!!

    FrankC32!!!

  • ok whatever.

  • ahh i fucking love this songggggggg.

  • This is like the 5th time I've listened to this song in the last 30 minutes.

  • really? thats a lot

  • great song , so classic!!!

  • summer...playing this track pulling the boards out waxing them down...prancing round like models snapping photos and all singing to this song....pricless

  • What a great song, great band. Thanks for posting.

  • what a treasure, says my bud the Professor

  • Nice song but why is this guy wearing a Donald Duck outfit?

  • Pstassio...You damn idiot. Stick to things you know and like the best, which is hip hop, and the anal crack of Eminem's ass at concerts when his baggy drawers are slipping half way down his ass. Perhaps that kind of fashion suits you best.

  • I'm not concerned with whether you were joking, or anything you do for that matter.

The 70s were about "quality music" and substance, not about hallow muti-million dollar corporate sponsored music, videos, and foolish acting as it is today. Stay off these threads, you lifeless twisted metal loving punk.

  • I find it fascinating that because I made one joke about a performer's wardrobe in this video, you have extrapolated the following: I love hip-hop, Eminem and heavy metal and have no respect for the music, fashion or values of the 70's. The truth is I grew up in the 70's, I love that music, and I don't like hip-hop (especially Eminem) or heavy metal. Again, I was JOKING. I think perhaps it's people like you who should stay off these threads. People who take them waaaay too seriously.

  • Douche extraordinaire

  • You've really gotta accept the changing times, even if Pstassio was kidding. And no, today's music is just as complex and sophisticated as '70's music, even if you fail to see it.

  • "10cc," another great British band from Manchester, England was signed to Jonathan King's UK Records label in July 1972. King dubbed them "10cc." He chose the name after having a dream in which he was standing in front of the Hammersmith Odeon in London where the boarding read "10cc The Best Band in the World". King later denied rumors the band's name was derrived from a volume of semen that was more than the average amount ejaculated by men, thus emphasising their potency or prowess.

  • Great record, no doubt.

  • Great song writting and performers!

  • 1.put your middle finger to your nose.

2.say the name of the person u like.

3.that person will ask you out or say i love you tommorrow

4.heres the thing copy and paste to 2 more vid's it's tru i tryed it yesterday and it actually worked lol =)

  • Dam Nathan, I have been doing this for a week now, and still no call from Angelina Jolie. Is there a guarantee or anything? Anything else I can try?

  • This guy at my old job last year got me hooked to this song and it stayed with me. I love this song!!!!

  • the things we do for love: silly, dumbass, often mean things..... usually because we misunderstood something our love was trying to tell us........ that's where love and forgiveness come along......... :) and hot make-up sex.............

  • Hell FUCKING YES!!!

  • This song is so freakin' beautiful. <33

  • "NIIIICCCCE"

  • I BROKE THEIR '100cc' ALBUM AND I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY

  • Great band, great song, check out the rest of their catalog. Very under-rated. Ahh the 70's.......

  • Country was better back then too.

  • NOTHING better than 70s music! All the genres at that time (except country) were better than anything made today!

  • Soooooo smooth

  • I can't believe Nickelodeon raped this for their teeny bopper BS...wait a minute, yes I can.

  • gosh a 70's hit?? so simple so lovely!♥

  • I would have never found you without this song. I love You Dave

  • I love you too Jane!

  • briliant song !>.loving the harmonyz

  • What an incredible song. Power pop slowed down to something beautiful and haunting. Five stars.

  • love it!!!

  • i enjoy this song!

  • A def classic...funny, I was born in 79, yet I have much more appreciation for this and other hits of the era than any of today's crap!

  • Born in the same year and I totally agree! I spent hours yesterday watching ELO, 10CC and other classic groups. Much better than today :-)

  • Amen to that...in fact, I've got a whole bunch of 70s hits in my Music Videos playlist!

  • You see I really love ELO, David Bowie and Lennon, yet i appreciate new music. There are amazing new bands out there. The Sleepy Jackson is my favorite. I must admit the new bands I like use an 'old sound' ;)

  • Oh, there's def some current music I like as well (Nickelback, Jet, etc), but it seems to be the 70s/80s stuff I really have a soft spot for. :-)

  • Oh, this is funny. The record label didn't have a copy, so they had to download this video off YouTube to get it in their account! LOL!

  • Hehe, you're right xD

  • Godley looks like Eric Bogosian. Love the song...

  • Kevin Godley isn't in this video- this took place after Godley & Creme left the band.

  • thanks for the correction. I made a foolish assumption.

  • No, not foolish at all! :) Lots of people are unclear about when Godley & Creme left the band - it was said that they had heard this song, and thought it would go nowhere, and left the band - now look - it's their biggest hit!!

  • Learn somethin new everyday. Couldn't sort out why Godley and Creme were obviously missin :|

  • Godley and Creme left in '76...and I think it was about the gizmo. They were also art school grads, so they directed all kinds of music videos together. Godley and Creme were the artistic half and Stewart and Goulodman were the commercial half...or that's how they labeled themselves anyway. My favorite 10cc album was "Sheet Music" and my favorite 10cc song was Clockwork Creep. It wasn't a big hit but I like it a lot.

  • Godley and Creme released "Cry" in the mid-80's.

  • Yes, I know. Godley and Creme were only 50 per cent of 10cc.

  • Comment removed

  • That's Graham Gould, not Godley but I agree about Bogosian..=) Eric Stewart and Graham Gould carried on using the 10cc name while Kevin Godley and Lol Creme used their own surnames when they left the band.

Graham Gould wrote the song, "For Your Love" which was a big hit for the Yardbirds back in 1964.

I highly recommend "I'm Not In Love" and "Dreadlock Holiday". If you like rock suites, find "Feel The Benefit" which - like "Things We Do For Love" - is also from the album "Deceptive Bends"

  • zenything, thanks for the clarification and the info, much appreciated!

  • It's a good thing that "Godley and Creme" and "10cc" were two separate units, don't you think? It would be pretty confusing to have two "10cc"s. Godley and Creme were awesome video direcors together.

  • Yeah he does look like Eric Bogosian...I see it too.

  • if you haven't already seen it, check out Talk Radio (1988) - great Bogosian flick

  • Eric Bogosian is now one of the Stars of USA's police drama series "Law & Order" Criminal Intent!

  • Who is Kevin Godley?

  • @bhilcu1, Godley formed 10cc w/Lol Creme and two or three other noted musicians in 1970; band was originally called Hotlegs.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • 100cc was part of creme ,not the eric clapton cream right. buts its still a 70,s classic.

  • @cavalley1, dude, check yer head. No one here has mentioned Cream, as it is obvious that the band Cream, with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce, has absolutely zero relation to 10cc and Lol Creme.

Are you trying to be funny by combining the two? If so, you suceeded, well-played, my friend. But I am afraid that you are actually serious. In which case, well, the less I say, the better!

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • sorry frank, i cheacked my head and i see i spelled it wrong. i saw it was godley and creme the band , and yes i was serious, about an answer, not a smart ass remark. what is it about you-tube that just attracts the idiots that haven't a clue about being cival.

  • @cavalley1, no worries, my friend.

Regrettably, I am one of those jack-asses who has a bad tendency to jump ugly on people who say things on these boards that I think are just completely fucking moronic.

But then I remember that I am really not fit to judge anyone, and each of us is entitled to our own opinion, no matter how ignorant it might be.

At the end of the day, I just try to enjoy the music and not let the bullshit get in the way.

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • HIs last name says it all.

  • One of the original members. He took off before this little period of success, then came back in the late '80's. for a while.

  • Now that's how to arrange a song!

  • One truly great hit from the 70's and a favorite of mine.Hearing this and other great tunes on the AM back then was wonderful.
