i LOVE love looooove this scene. it's so sexy. so much tension...u can tell they WANT to...but...they don't. pity.

@apie77 he has this look on his face when he is putting in her pearl earring and it hurts that he hates it. his expression is great and expresses so much without saying a thing that truly shows how great an actor colin firth really is.

@apie77 Yes apie77...an amazing scene , so quiet, but maybe that is why there is so much sexual tension. Yes, you can tell that they want to. I have no idea what Vermeer was like, but if I had been his wife in that long-ago century, and I ever saw this painting, I would know that that he had passion for somebody else. Was there ever a "Griet?" We will never know. But what a wonderful "what if'" screenplay. Such haunting music, and haunting question. Thanks for your comment.
