The 30-40 Krag makes an excellent deer rifle. The heavy, slow moving projectile drops deer in their tracks. Magnums are a modern myth, and actually less effective on deer than the old and perfect cartridges.
do they still make lever action rifles made the company winchestor because these days i dont think they do any more now pretty much the onely place you can get a winchestor rifle at gander mountain
this gun might havr been used in the spanish american war maybe . winchestors are my favorite rifle ever . i have a home made non firing modal mine has hard brown wood and the botom barell is longer then the top.
I bought one a while back it was one of those centennial type rifles that winchester produced in the 1990's and on the box it says "big medicine" and it is chambered for the 405.
A superb weapon. Good to saw off about 1/2 of the end of the barrel and the stock and install a 'flipper' in the loading lever, then ride around on a harley davidson shooting stuff.
Wasn't this rifle also Designed for the Russian military in 7.62x54r?

I've got one chambered for 30 US now 30-06.
The guy I bought it off thought that he was ripping me off by selling it to me for $500.
It was worth twice that much.

Try 5-6 times as much, depending on year.
