Ex; in the movie, at the end, nearly the whole team is focused on Rudy with him being hauled off a hero. Unclefestus, what is wrong with you? You are going on and on about how Rudy lived his life for only one moment and the rest of it without a goal, but what on earth makes you think that's true? It's not like that in life we only ever make goals in our youth and that's it. After Notre Dame, he most likely developed new goals and sought them out - even into old age. Priorities and dreams never end, and Rudy had a prestigious collepe degree to go on. Your statements are ridiculous.
This is just what I gathered from the movie. Aside from the movie, I know almost nothing else about him. I don't claim to be the expert, and perhaps it was just the way the movie portrayed him, but that seems to be the way Rudy was, based on the movie. Yes, I know movies exaggerate true life events.
Aw, when Rudy starting crying, I couldn't help myself, I did too. It's remarkable what great stories can do. His story and this movie taught me the true meaning of perseverence, hard work, and most of all HEART.

He did a motivation assembly at my highschool in Febuary my sophmore year. It's a great movie two thumbs up and it proves that anyone can do anything in their life but the assembly was a joke. He was kinda cocky and was practicly saying, Hey! go out and buy my movie so I can get some more money.

This has to be one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. I mean this guy dreams his whole life just to dress for Notre Dame. What I wanna know is, after that last game... what does he do? He has no goal after that, and everything he lived for is in the past. If not for the movie, I bet depression would have gotten the better of him.
If not for the movie, he would just be a nobody. He wanted to run out of the tunnel and he did that. What I was getting at was, now that he's done everything he wanted to do...... now what? That'll depress anyone. I hear it depressed Troy Aikman after he won the super bowl.

It just depresses me to think he spent his whole life for one moment, and when he's about 20, it's over. Living life without a goal is sad, I must say. i think we are missing the point, if rudy was bond for success in his life he would have gone to ND with no problem. The reason why this story is so good is because he was not bond for success and he willed himself to get what he wanted.
The movie is inspirational & by far one of the greatest sports films ever created. It shows us that no matter what are dreams are (big or small) that they are accomplishable if we willing to sacrifice for them.
I did play football. I was a lineman. And I'm not saying he wasn't successful or anything like that. What I was getting at was, if he is about 20 or so and already did everything he wanted in life, what else is there to live for? I know he did become successful but what did he have to look foward to? THAT is what I was getting at.
Rudy did what any athlete does when the glory days are over; it's called moving on.
Locally, one of our greatest high school wrestlers chose not to go to college and ended his career as a state champ. He stayed in the area, raised a family, etc. He found new stuff "to live for."
I would hope so. I don't have the slightest idea what he did, but the way the movie made it out to be seemed kinda depressing. Now if he moved on, that's great. I also bet he made a good bit of money because of the movie. I hope he did move on. I really do. I don't know enough to make an assumption, but I just wonder what he lived for after Notre Dame.
He's done pretty well for himself. For the last 15 years, that I'm aware of, he's made a rather lucrative living as a motivational speaker. I read the transcrips of one of his lectures that he preformed for Dow Chemical. My friend, it is powerful stuff. I just wish I could have heard it in the first person.
He came to my school...Mesa High School...Mesa, Arizona and spoke to him personally because he talked to our football team before the school. Sorry to say but he wasn't a good speaker. He is a sucessful man but a lot were disappointed including myself. Please don't get me wrong because his life is a great story of achievement, believing, never giving in, and following your dreams but I just didn't enjoyed it. Unclefestus, what is wrong with you? You are going on and on about how Rudy lived his life for only one moment and the rest of it without a goal, but what on earth makes you think that's true? It's not like that in life we only ever make goals in our youth and that's it. After Notre Dame, he most likely developed new goals and sought them out - even into old age. Priorities and dreams never end, and Rudy had a prestigious collepe degree to go on. Your statements are ridiculous.

This is just what I gathered from the movie. Aside from the movie, I know almost nothing else about him. I don't claim to be the expert, and perhaps it was just the way the movie portrayed him, but that seems to be the way Rudy was, based on the movie. Yes, I know movies exaggerate true life events.

I realized how awesome it is that this kid, that never had a shot at greatness, never had a chance to play for his team, who kept getting told that he's just dreaming.... he became one of the most famous players the team has ever had. He did a motivation assembly at my highschool in Febuary my sophmore year. It's a great movie two thumbs up and it proves that anyone can do anything in their life but the assembly was a joke. He was kinda cocky and was practicly saying, Hey! go out and buy my movie so I can get some more money.

I hate Notre Dame, I'm a MIchigan fan but how do you not love this movie? My mom doesn't like football and she cries all the time at this film. Is it 100 percent true? No. But there's a core there that IS and that's enough for us.

This has to be one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. I mean this guy dreams his whole life just to dress for Notre Dame. What I wanna know is, after that last game... what does he do? He has no goal after that, and everything he lived for is in the past. If not for the movie, I bet depression would have gotten the better of him.

Perhaps now he is, but if you know so much about him than you should know that he WAS a car salesman after college and he got jacked up in the dealership by Theismann in 1978 for doing unchristian like thing's with Theismann's girl's. I never claimed I know anything about Rudy. I admit, I don't know a THING about him except from the movie. I don't even know what percentage of the movie is true. It just depresses me to think he spent his whole life for one moment, and when he's about 20, it's over. Living life without a goal is sad, I must say. i think we are missing the point, if rudy was bond for success in his life he would have gone to ND with no problem. The reason why this story is so good is because he was not bond for success and he willed himself to get what he wanted.
The movie is inspirational & by far one of the greatest sports films ever created. It shows us that no matter what are dreams are (big or small) that they are accomplishable if we willing to sacrifice for them.

Locally, one of our greatest high school wrestlers chose not to go to college and ended his career as a state champ. He stayed in the area, raised a family, etc. He found new stuff "to live for."

I also bet he made a good bit of money because of the movie. I hope he did move on. I really do. I don't know enough to make an assumption, but I just wonder what he lived for after Notre Dame.

He's done pretty well for himself. For the last 15 years, that I'm aware of, he's made a rather lucrative living as a motivational speaker. I read the transcrips of one of his lectures that he preformed for Dow Chemical. My friend, it is powerful stuff. I just wish I could have heard it in the first person.

He came to my school...Mesa High School...Mesa, Arizona and spoke to him personally because he talked to our football team before the school. Sorry to say but he wasn't a good speaker. He is a sucessful man but a lot were disappointed including myself. Please don't get me wrong because his life is a great story of achievement, believing, never giving in, and following your dreams but I just didn't enjoyed it. Sorry to say but he isn't a good speaker.

That too bad. Sometimes messages, even powerful messages, can get lost in the delivery. He's done a good job in the past so it may be that your expectations were so high that no one would have been able to meet them. In any event, it's important to remember that no one is able to deliver everytime. We are only human after all. It's an interesting story to say the least

This movie changed my life! I went back to college in my late 30's and got out of my B.S. factory job.
