I just installed this yesterday. However, I'm worried that if I disable the microsoft windows updates, Microsoft might find out that my computer is actually not genuine. Is there any way or are you sure enough that I won't be caught if I enable updates?

Scratch that now it keeps on restarting when I get to the first time setup loading screen :( I've tried the disc version I made no use :( I tried goin back to windows xp no use :( and I've ran out of options :( it also takes me to the safe mode and start windows normally etc screen and it just resets for every option I choose :( HELP!!!

@MiLaanify you won't have internet unless you go wired. You will need to have drivers before having internet. But id advice you to upgrade your pc if you don't have enough ram

This does work, id recommend you have at least 512mb of ram but guys go ahead and upgrade your ram, search newegg on google and use there memory upgrade tool. This will help you find the ram you need. Also if you are desperate and really want it then go ahead and do this but it can end up going slow if lots of programs are running in background! @terrelldaniel Windows 7 uses roughly the same amount of ram and i can prove it as i am running Windows Xp MCE Windows 7 & Vista Ultimate in tri Boot trust me Windows 7 and xp are almost identical in memory allocation

No just download the windows 7 32bit or 64bit... Burn it to cd using "IMG Burn" and backup anything u need on computer. Then boot from cd you created and install. Activate it with this program with "Remove WAT" or "RTM" In description

i downloaded a program that backs up your drivers and u can update windows 7 just as long as u dont put the update KB97103 and yes it will uninstall the xp it did on mine. once u edit the strand with PSPAD and delet ei.cfg or its jst ei then i suggest u burn it to a DVD cuz if u dnt ur computer gunna mess up. happened to mine. u could us POWER ISO to burn to a dvd and then run the set up from the dvd and follow the installation proccess and thats it.

Lol sorry for bothering you soooo much but no more of that this was great now my 512 mb hp computer is running like if it had 2gb RAM i really loved this tutorial and it was very helpful... so far i haven't installed the up date KB9171003 and not planning on it... just one quick question when i had to open PSPad and edit the strand thingie, was that so windows 7 could run on 512mb?

No you dont need to burn anything to a cd... What you need to do is install windows 7 either burn it to cd or run setup file and once you are installing windows 7 dont enter a product key just get windows all booted up and started. Then when you are on the computer run the activator and it will restart.. IT will be all activated...Just dont install the update in the commet below i told how to do it. But dont install the one windows update.

What happened was you installed the microsoft update that detects activation software. To fix this you need to remove the update (KB9171003) and download "Remove Wat". Restart your computer and your activated again.

If your asking how to make it to bootable cd... then

Download "imgburn"

open the program up and select the windows 7 iso and burn it to cd.

Once done.. Boot your pc from the cd you made and make sure youve backed up all of your files you need first.
