from the Junos in 93 as you said.. with Celine Dion and Chris Isaac (sorry - can't spell his name) hosting. Too bad you don't have Meryn Cadell's intro... it was amazing.. listing everyone who was going to appearing/performing in alphabetical order in under 30 seconds. the first time i saw this in 95, i had to argue with myself over whether or not Jim and Tyler were wearing wigs or if that was their real hair (it's wigs for both - confirmed when they accept thier award - Jim had short hair).LOL!
I love this song sooo much, and this is a fantastic posting .. thank you!!! Does anybody actually know 'who' was the inspiration for this song?!? I met BNL at a UK gig a few months ago, and really wished I'd have asked Ed this question :o(
I have to say, that in my opinion, Steven Page is better without BNL, whereas BNL clearly misses Steven Page. Kevin is not 1/10th the singer that Mr. Page is.
Though I will agree that Kevin is not as good at singing as Steve, he still has talent. Just because one person out of the band, doesn't mean that the other's talent will just disappear. I saw them in Boston a few weeks ago and they sound very good. They're new music is unbelievably good. Give them a chance, they are managing quite well. Take care.
Actually, this song was released on several albums before it made it on "Gordon", became popular before the release of Gordon. Theoretically, it could have been written about 1,000,000. Doubtful, but possible.
Steven is still kicking ass out on the festival circuit. Search the web for Winnipeg Folk Festival on CBC Radio. CBC recorded his performance, he is just so good.
a perfect example that you don't have to take yourself seriously to be talented. just one question: What are the Junos? I know bnl are from Canada, so is it like an awards show?
I thought I'd never see this video again! I wasn't a big enough fan back then to tape it, then go figure I went on to become a total "naked head" and I've wanted this appearance for years. Thanks so much for posting this!:-D
I NEVER thought I would see this performance again! I remember watching this and thinking that I wasn't big enough of a fan to record it, and then of course kicking myself later on for not doing so. Thank you for posting this!!:-D
holy shit that's awesome..

this song takes a slightly different meaning now that Page has left the band.
Almost prophetic in a way

This was on the same album as $1,000,000. That song wasn't a hit yet.

it was written about steve miller and his one good album in 1973

I enjoy the re-done lyrics on the more recent performances of the song. because it seems it became a song about his own band.

I didn't notice the changes. Thanks.
