Thanks for the feedback MDSCUSTOMS. It was my first project, and mainly an exploration. As it turns out, designing amphibious aircraft is at least twice as challenging as designing conventional aircraft--so I decided to shift my focus towards less ambitious projects for the time being, and revisit the Phibian project once I've gained more success with simpler designs.
I really like the ideas behind ModelAirRC's Flying Boat, and thinking to go more in that direction...
@ddrlankyj Thank you - no, I didn't get it to fly... The pontoon design wasn't well thought out, and the fact I built the thing partially out of paper-based foam-core board pretty much made me retire the design. I've since tried two more Phibian designs, both of which also failed to fly, but I haven't given up. I read that designing and building a successful amphibian plane is twice as hard as a regular plane, so I decided to scale back my ambitions. I learned a lot, though! Smaller steps...
Dude ... WOW really cooool. I love how you used the empty plastic pop bottles ... great imagination. I think you have a career in aircraft design. Almost looks like a ground effect vehicle.
Thank you so much, Brian! Funny you should say "ground effect..." I am abroad for a few months, but can't wait to finish the Phibian02, which is being constructed from more water-friendly materials--still mostly recycled, though... I've been studying a lot of interesting Ground Effect designs, and am dying to see if my notions will actually fly...
Thanks. It was a first attempt. Really just an exploration in using recycled and hardware store materials. If it flew, that would have been a bonus. I'm working on the Phibian-02 now, which will fly using ground effect on a much lighter frame.
I don't know whos funnier the dude recording of the flipping boat/wannabeplane...You guys keep it up. Put two 2409-12T Towerpros on top of the wings,,,she will go.
Looks like a great design, just underpowwered. A float plane requres a ton of power to get going.

cool idea man. I'm a scratch builder myself although I've never attempted a seaplane. were you ever able to get a successful flight out of it?

good idea mounting motors to the bottle cap -prop thrust angle might need to be adjustable and precise

make a tutorial on how to make them please

Thanks for the interest. I think I will at some point - but I'll wait until I can actually get a plane flying before I actually bother with that.

Good luck on this and future designs.

rc waterplane should have at least 1:1 thrust to let it get up in the air.
