HEY WHERE I LIVE IN 2003 WHEN I WAS 10 AND IN 2005 WHEN I WAS 12 I SEEN A TBN VERSION OF JOAN OF ARC WITH VOICE IN THE SAME LOOK. I WANT TO HEAR THE VOICEOF JOAN OF ARC AGAIN
I've performed this and will be doing it again tomorrow evening (albeit not with such a stellar orchestra and vocalists.) As a true admirer of the film, I don't find Einhorn's composition complimentary in many regards. Just last month, I traveled to New Orleans where the film was presented at St. Louis Cathedral with music provided by a very accomplished organist improvising to the action. This was compelling, and a far cry more powerful than Mr. Einhorn's attempt at sounding like Philip Glass.

Yes, I saw the choir live with the movie playing on a big screen behind them and it was AWESOME. Then they decided to stop showing the movie at the concerts because I guess they felt it detracted attention from the singing. Such good music and a great movie.
@Chonch51 In Costa Mesa , CA about 10 years ago. The album had just come out, and then the group came to Costa Mesa (near South Coast Plaza) and played there. I immediately got tickets and it was so cool. Then we read a few weeks later that the singers felt like the audience didn't focus on the music when the movie played, so they stopped showing the movie.
THANK you for posting this... it was superb! I discovered Einhorn's "Voices of Light" in a music store around 1996, and was completely taken... then had to see the film (which I now own). Both score and film are masterpieces.... thank you for sharing it with others.
I first saw this on Silent Film Theatre on TCM,it blew me away. This film and Einhorn's soundtrack are on a level all their own,the true ART of film making- find a more powerful film/score,I challenge you. Einhorn really outdid himself, and the Anonymous 4 and the symphony really seemed inspired. A TRUE masterpiece...and they're showing it in high schools(!!!),that is just friggin beyond cool! :) Silent films rule, seek them out and check out King Vidor's 'The Big Parade'!
I know they showed it in my history and film class. At first I was like "ahh a silent films suck" but then this movie totally changed my perspective on silent films.
Ya, I know what you mean, The movie has to be watched with the music or it just wouldn't be as moving. However the actress that plays Joan of Arc does a fabulous job in conveying what Joan might have been going through, so it still would be pretty moving without the music as well.
the original film was supposed to be shown without any music at all, totally silent. the soundtrack was a later invention. the silent version is actually more compelling, in its way.
@Chonch51 That's one of the things we'll never know for sure. Wikipedia says one thing, IMDB says another. Actually now it's not important :-). Now there's a choice between watching it in silence or with the "Voices of Light". Personally I prefer with the "Voices". But if I were to choose: silent vs some alternative music, I'd choose silent.
Just finished watching Dreyer's film for the first time, after hearing in an interview that it was one of the truly illuminating moments in Werner Herzog's life.
It's an absolutely monumental work, and the music is extraordinary. Thanks very much for posting.
Thank you so much. This is by far my favorite music ever composed for a film.

just as you, i watched this movie in my history of cinema class.
I agree one of the best music scores ever, i am only afraid that the movie would have lost a lot of its appeal without the score to me.
anyways cheers for uploading this
