The mount worked good for two flights ,then cracked at the corner so I'm still looking for a mount!I'm using the Turngy 800,9g video camera ,very cheap and you get what you pay for!
I came up with a mount that's working pretty good, I cut a section of a cassette case (not the door side) to end up with a right angle bracket that I glued to the frame next to the back skid mount so my camera faces forward ,also I heated the cassette plastic with lighter to adjust a few degrees for better view.I'm using Velcro and a rubber band so it's removable and seems to be alot less distortion.I'll make video in a couple of days and post.Have fun!
@Stevekauai Very nice. Look forward to seeing it,. Can you send me a pic of the cassette mount? It'd still be nice to have a forward facing view DV under the skid centered rather than from the canopy. Let me know how it works out for you. Also, what DV are you using?
I'm using 25c 1300 battery , but should probably be using a 30 to 40c battery on 2 cell.It handles very nice and allows me to fly when its windy, plus very adjustable so you can make it fly the way you like!I think I may have hit the dislike key when I went to hit send, sorry! The 370d05 head is much more crash resistant and comes with the swash ,main shaft, and links and can be had for $25, so it's cheaper than the stock head !
@Stevekauai Very cool. How does it handle compared to the orig stock set up? Did the change affect battery performance? are you using a 1200 or 1300 25C?
I went flybarless with my Hm1a and put a hobbymate 2/3 cell motor and a17 tooth pinion, running on7.4 battery, got my camera mounted under the main shaft ,but that's kinda boring to watch,I'll try to post a video when I have something worthy!
Thanks Steve! Funny you mention the roll. Since I mounted the MUVI face forward in a modded canopy window, it's just not consistent. It was pointed out that canopies absorb a lot of vibration. So the obvious mount point is under / between skids. But I can't get a forward lens position w that little DV. Still working on it. Rubber grommets- anything to absorb the harmonic vibration should help reduce roll ESP when the dv doesn't have image stabilization. Let me know when u get your 1#A flying w
@Stevekauai Thanks Steve! I posted my reply above. 1#As are about the most solid out of the box CP heli for the money out there. So many upgrades possible too. I am using a larger Turbo Ace motor (still only 2s) but planning on making it a 3S flyer. Anyhow keep up with trial and error and you'll get a good DV shot.
