I think he puts damp cypress mulch to maintain humidity. The snakes also like to bury in the mulch

Awesome! Boas are cool. Unfortunately, I don't have enough space in my house for such a large snake, but maybe when I get my own place...

I got the same rock hide for my Ball Python; they have worked well for me.

I have heard that there has a number of boids dying from "IBD" especially boas. Have any of your boas suffered from it? If not, arent you worried?

u've heard about a lot? its pretty rare actually and is even less-talked about... i have been lucky and haven't been troubled by IBD. There is a very limited understanding of what it actually is since Inclusion Bodies (IBd) are found in many types of diseases... and yes, the idea of it wiping out my collection scares the sht outta me

they're just plastic tubs, but i put wood chips in there and spray that to act as a humidity source and diff temp zone within the tank :)

Hey man, love the videos. You've got me wanting to add a couple boas to my snake collection, haha. Anyhow, I had a question about your cage setup. You're using the boaphile 421Townhouse right? I'm wanting to get a couple for my balls but I don't know if it would be big enough. My girls approaching 4 feet. Pretty sure each level is 2X4, so each side is 2X2. Seems like a tight fit, right?

thanks :) i am using the townhouse for 3 of 4 of the cages i bought and yes, they are 2x2 when the divider is in, 4x2 without. if you look at ralphdavis and his collection, he keeps some fair-size bps in what looks like 3x1x.5 tubs. thats the same square footage. still, i think that after 4.5 to 5 ft you probably should give them their own 4x2. ive been told that a reasonable length is more important than just sqft, so they can fully stretch out...

this is a general statement, but typically the BCIs (common colombians) grow faster but don't get as big... the True Red Tails, like Surinams, take a few extra years to mature, but tend to reach bigger sizes :)

hey, great collection! love that striper too! are those vivs big enough for when they reach adulthood? they just looked a bit small to me. i couldnt really tell how far back they go from the vid.

ya the vivs are going to work fine. All the females will end up with a cage like delilah, the one on top. If you look at the vid, the 3 levels with 2 doors are all dividable cages. Those inside walls come out and then I will keep either 1 female or 1 breeding pair per cage, which is 4x2. Then when the males are separated, they'll go into the 2x1.5ft which sounds small, but is enough. Males usually dont get bigger than 5-6ft. Good question:)
