  • Portland is a great city

  • SUPER LE MILAGE DAVID LE. FACEBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK

  • I do really like Portland, but can't trade Seattle for it.

  • if portland is so great, why the high suicide rate?

  • Portland is the second greenest city in the world. It's right behind a city in Iceland. It's mainly why I moved here

  • @suckmyjaggon I applaud your efforts to save mother earth, but it's too late...

  • @PositiveEFFECTS Wow. That sure is a depressing view you got there.

  • New York City is still by far the most sustainable city in the US (by far the densest transport infrastructure, saves half the gas used in the US, etc). Yes, Portland has done a lot of things right, but it's incredibly over-rated and over-credited. UGBs were pioneered in Europe, but Portland takes credit for it being revolutionary. Arlington, VA, could and should be considered the leader in smart growth and TOD in the US; it essentially created the concept back in the 60s.

  • @bbukfan That's ironic that you call, Portland, overrated, because I think NYC is overrated. It's too big, too crowded and way overpriced.

  • hey fishskins? its called a fucking cloud. portland is rainy in the winter and i love it.

  • portland rocks. it also sucks ass- look at the smog over the city in the middle of a still winter day, for example (and superfunds up river). what does that say about other us cities if this is the greenest?? we gotta step up,

portland is doing a great job in relation to other major us cities, but there is still a very long way to go. let's keep making it better, and try to make it actually green and sustainable!

  • dude, are you crack? Portland DOES NOT have smog, ever

  • We do have the best water and food in the nation easily, but in terms of government. No, portland fucking sucks for its government

  • So does Boston.

  • Portland: a role model for the highest taxes in the nation and second highest unemployment.

Oregon used to be a state of progressive thinkers. The culture in Portland is now becoming one of an urban monoidealology where many believe they are "individualists" but in reality they are amazingly uniform in their "thinking" and follow the leader type of attitude. They allow their leaders to do their thinking for them.

Why is the man in the video trying to hard sell green roofs? pathetic

  • I agree and disagree. People in portland are very individual thinkers and DO NOT follow the leader. However they never do anything themself. They expect the government to just solve everything. Hey, you got a problem, SOLVE IT YOURSELF! Other wise you can't complain

  • the lady at the beginning of the video claims that activists are not driving "sustainability", but that it is driven by the government... what she will not admit is the government brought technically unqualified ACTIVISTS into the government and its boards. So now we have rediculously unscientific policies across the Portland area, thanks to the activists. This is the portland brand of "thinking". .

  • Portland as you can see is horrible. I finally left that boring, depressing place! It's full of drunks because of nothing to do and it rains at least 10 months a year. Which contributes to the second highest suicide rate. Trust me this video is propaganda BS!

  • DUde I just watched another video about Portland and all you have to say is bad things... Shut up... Portland is one of the coolest cities in the us.... Crawl back in your hole where u came from!

  • Right. I'm sure I won't be diappointed when I visit there. i wish I could live there. I hate Milwaukee so much, well Wisconsin.

  • Just from what it seems, no other city can stack up. I been to few cities and PDX was one of them, but what am I missing in these other spots? Judging by the internets or street views, I still couldnt picture some of these other places being better or even just as good for that matter. Cleveland has a nice skyline but people arent confident in their city for example.

  • @Fireypooh Really? That's nice to know.

  • Portland is a wonderful city full of culture, art, great food, and highly educated people. Portland is also the GREENEST city in the United States. The people of Portland are extremely friendly, laid back and down to earth. GREAT PLACE TO LIVE! I just moved here and fell in love instantly!

  • Great video, we wanted to welcome you to our new "All Eco Friendly Cleaning/Health and Beauty product store in Tigard.

    "Cleaning Green" on Main street.

    Tigard Eco District

    J.

  • what the fuck are you talking about you stupid redneck fuck, were the fuck do you live fuckin hick town u.s.a. portland is not in the "shitter" maybe the rest of it might be but were i live in cedar mill it is most definatly not. my freind left that comment while on my account and i read what he left. you are a stupid fucking dumbass. go fuck you're tractors that you are so interested in and go to hell.

  • The rufff. He says roof ruff lol.

  • Got the best weed and the waters always flowing!

  • I loved Portland. It's my home town. However, the transp system has been horribly managed for 20 years. Too much $ was diverted to MAX and other low ROI projects. 90% folks still commute in cars, even in PDX. It's time we stopped denying it. How much fuel has been wasted all these years due to congestion at i5 S. at Delta Park? Or I5 exit north to 84 E? Or in pm gridlock on 26 E. at 185th, and on and on... I don't want sprawling cement, just some balance between traditional and green.

  • i love portland i was born there :D

  • portland is a humble, bike populated, green city,,if u count out the sewager and others. overall, it's not a bad place to live

  • I lived in Portland for a while then I moved to Michigan which was a big change to the worst for sure. For those who criticize Portland, try to live in the Midwest then you will know that you are lucky being in Portland.

Everything in Portland is better than anywhere less, education, health care, cities, counties, government, and people. I plan in future to settle in Portland and give my children the education they deserve.

  • Education is rated 2nd worse in the nation.

  • Never mind that Portland's sewer system regularly overflows raw sewage into the Willamette River. A role model for the nation.

  • Portland fails miserably in highway transportation. All hope was lost when the Liberals highjacked the city council and stopped the construction of highways which would have made Portland much more livable and opened it to economic possibilities which are now unfortunately not there for the city anymore.

  • @FATWONTON sooo, they should do what stressful, poorly planned areas have done? I doubt the carbon emissions would be at early 90's levels if more lanes were added, which leads to more lanes. It does not solve anything. I have lived here driving my car 500 miles a year...bike and transit. It is not hard at all. Lost weight due ot changing my lifestyle as well. Try it.

  • At least it isnt covered in cement and dousnt have trees like some places (California, and werever the hell your from!)

  • I meen, At least it isnt covered in sement and has trees unlike some places (California, And werever the hell you live)

  • first o'v all orgeon has lots of tress dumbass

  • I know, I was reading that and was like whhaaaatttt?

  • pOrtland is the cleanes city in the U.S. jackass where do u live in ha

  • that's what I hear. it's the cleanest city in the US. It was voted Greenest city as well on the weather channel.

  • This is great-course I was born here-I enjoy seeing the new buildings going greener. I haven't had a car here in over 10 years so I'm 100% my bicycle and the pretty great methods of public transport.

  • What the hell is a RUUF Left Coast Hippie Commies.

  • wow, you're a shining beacon of understanding and thought.

eat it. ruff, just like your mother likes it.

  • Continued... There is no counterweight the left-wing cabal that controls this town and absolute power has corrupted absolutely. Schools and public safety are a chronic mess. I have given up on my hometown after waiting many years for moderation to return. PDX has believed its own hype for far too long.

  • So, you are saying that infinite sprawl of cheap one-story single family homes with unmitigated "mainstream" car driving and smog (Greater L.A. living) is your utopian leaning? PDX seems to lean toward community problem solving. But, surely real estate developers have their influence and deep pockets there, same as anywhere. Does this equal extremist? Please point out your ideal city as far as sustainability policy and political window dressing goes. Cheers.

  • We were going in the right direction until 1984. From there it has been all down hill.

  • So...which US city has been going up the hill, in your eyes?

  • Then why don't you take trimet or the bus like any good Oregonian? I have been using public transit for over ten years every day to get to work and school. Maybe if more people gave a crap, the city would be a better place. I don't think Portland should brag, or anything, but we do have alot of people who care about the community and the environment. Do you have an eco roof? Or save rainwater? Or compost? Didn't think so.

  • Seattle is also doing fairly well, though we have a huge congestion problem.

  • Portland city government bullies its citizens like mad. The cops are a mob of brutalizing, murdering rednecks brought in from the outlying areas of Oregon, and they are almost never held accountable by the city government. Portland's mayor, Tom Potter, is the former chief of police, and he is probably the biggest bullying goon of all. Also, the city transit drivers terrorize other drivers on the road, and are never held accountable. Portland is FAR from being some "ideal city".

  • true that homie, i love me some ptown anyhow tho.

  • Portland... or New Orleans, or Washington DC? I think you're confused.

About 30-60 people are murdered per year in Portland.

About 300-400 per year in NEw Orleans or Washington DC.

The cops commonly lose 10-30% of their staff in New Orleans every year because they're corrupt. Portland doesn't.

    Get your info straight.

  • That's because there aren't any black people in Portland

  • lEM ME GUESS YOU DONT LIVE IN PORTLAND DO YA

  • I love Portland! Long live the City of Roses!

  • Excellent video. I live in downtown Portland, and it's great to see that our efforts here don't go unnoticed!

  • Here here!
