Sure there have been heat cycles in the past, scientists know this, but the current rise in heat is caused by CO2. Yes trees take in CO2, that is why deforestation causes 20% of CO2 emissions. We don't have to punish the third world if we use the carbon tax (oil is inelastic) to invest in better R&D.

Deforestation is one of the largest emitters of co2. other large emiters are coal plants and automobiles, something that can be easily fixed through technological innovation. fighting global warming would make the market more competitive if companies were offered tax cuts as an incentive to invest in R&D for environmental friendly products.
