Quit hating on Zelda. Doesn't make you sound like you have a better taste in games. Just a dumbfuck on youtube. lmao. Severe lack of taste is when you say that Legend of Zelda is not fun or is for kids. If thats true, then no adult would have ever owned a NES or an SNES in the 80s and 90s.
Alundra is one of my favorite WD games of all time. Its a dark game and you gotta love(or love to hate) that everyone you try to save dies in the beginning and you are seen as the 'cause for all the trouble.
What a dumb dumb dumb ass, this Guy is(xelph) ..he thinks this game stole the music from halo..lol lol lmfao..fukn idiot..somebody tell him why that's impossible ..lol please!!this has the shittiest taste ever..lol

this game was fucking awesome although i can see how it was treated as a zelda clone but thats horse shit hahaha zelda is a panzy ass game compared to this one i honestly thought this one had a better plot, gameplay, and was far more difficult... i still own the game today it works and everything along with my fav game final fantasy 7 i have both original copies they are epic
This game is my earliest memory! My brother played it when i was 5 or something. Been wondering from time to time what game have a guy with a chestplate and a BIG tree with gorillas or something. Feels weird finding this game..
one of the best and hardest games i have ever played untill now it was great the dream sequences and so on teh whole game play everything and much more brutal that zelda ( zelda is great of course but it is more kiddy like to be ohnes but great ) Alundra is a game for adults and kids i am soo sad that i have sold my PS1 and lost Alundra maybe i will buy it on ebay ^^ and restart that great awesome game
the first time i heard of this game was when i saw the disk in my PS1. my mom had been playing it (i dont know why) and i played it. i liked it but i keeped dieing but that was when i was 8. now im 17 and i know how to be more smart with a game like this.
@lad2100 True, it's an Action-Adventure, just because Zelda was one of the first successful franchises in this genre, people keep calling others in that Genre a "Zelda-clone", it's like calling racing games "Gran Turismo clones" or anything where you hit things "God of War clones". It's a huge pet-peeve of mine.
@galenloire yea thats true, and it is also true that people who make games get ideas from other games but its not copying or ripping off its just making a game with different ideas in one to see how it goes like minecraft was based off infinite miner
There were only the four Zelda games when Alundra had been released, and there was a four-year gap between Alundra and LttP. Those Zelda games had formulaic, grid-like dungeons (with the exception of the side-scrolling of Link's Adventure) and predictable puzzles and themes. Alundra, though categorized as action/adventure, was just as close to being a platforming game as it was A/A. Alundra innovated, and Zelda continued(s) to improve upon its' own style with each game, but they are separate.
I never actually got this game, but I got a demo disc with this video on it. I never got to play it, but I always thought 'damn, this game has the best theme song'
A blatant Zelda clone, but one hell of a clone at that. I loved this game so much that it pains me to this day that my brother traded it with a friend for Super Street Fighter on the SNES before I could complete it. I'll have to get it again sometime.
Still have Alundra 2 but it's not the same. It's fun and all, but I want a true Alundra sequel.
@Catkeeper Not everything is a Zelda clone though, they didn't suddenly change the genre from 'Action-Adventure' into 'Zelda'. Sometimes I get the feeling that people look at this entire genre of games and just see Zelda.
@galenloire I know, but A Link to the Past was pretty much the peak of the genre for many, and defined the genre overall. Plus Alundra featured similar tools and puzzles, similar protaganist (silent elf guy), and was generally considered at the time to be the Playstation's answer to Nintendo's classic.
Don't get me wrong though, it's not a rip off like the Gianna Sisters were to Mario, and is still a classic master of the genre, and there's nothing wrong with it being like Zelda at all.
Amazing game, definitely one of my favorite PS1 games, and definitely very under-appreciated. Tip for anyone who wants to play it again: it's available on PSN (or will be, once they get PSN back online, but that's a different story), so if you have a PS3 or PSP you can download it for like 6 bucks. 6 bucks is an absolute steal for this game.
This was the first game I ever saw (when I was about 4-6(?) (Don't remember excact age). I am soon 18 and I still wish that one day I could get this game a play it through like my brother did. If anyone could have any tips for making this dream happen, please help. Any help will do. D: (As usual, brother isn't helping at all)
I got it for my birthday... Back when you used to buy a game because of the way it looked, not because of what some shitty website said about it... I always got stuck, left it for a month or two, restarted it and got further than the last time and then got stuck and left it again, it became a bit of a cycle, hahaha.
@shorien My thoughts exactly. i was stuck on lars crypt for months,(i was grounded for a month or two of that) and finally got access to dial up internet then i printed a 100 pg walkthrough. took me the bones of a childhood year to finish. this was 12 years ago.
Does this game involve some type of dream. . . thing in its plot?
I remember hearing about a Zelda like game but had more serious/darker moments. I looked for it and found the title, then looked for a physical copy and it was like 30 bucks (this is back when I was a scrub)
This may be it. . . *goes off to look for a physical copy
I used to love this game. And I always thought Alundra was so cute/brave.. *sigh* I was the only girl I knew who played these types of games.. I loved them XD
@rubeejsgrimes D; Nuuu, your not the only girl who loved these types of games i played it alll the time when i was little. :3 I've just rebought the game along with Digimon world one and Alone in the dark. :D!
This was the first RPG I had for PS1, plays a lot like Zelda only the dungeons are 10x harder and the boss battles were epic except for the last one which I beat with ease. Im gonna download this and Xenogears to my PSP right now
@hayesman24 The first one is waaaaaay better than the second one! No comparance. I finished the first game and loved it, and didn't even want to finish the second when I started it ...
@MsCandycorn I had played a fair ways into the second one, and although it isn't the same game in most aspects, it was still fairly enjoyable compared to other games.
@galenloire Ok, I guess. These days I don't have much time to play games, so it have to be pretty good to keep my attention... Before when I was little I only had a few games, so I really had to spend time with them. Now the games need to impress me, and I guess Alundra 2 didn't. Mainly I was dissappointed by the fact that it wasn't Alundra we played at all!! And the game wasn't even similar. A sequel should be a real sequel, and Alundra 2 sucked at that... But I would give Alundra 1 a 10/10! :)
I PLAYED THIS GAME WHEN I WAS 11 ALL BY MYSELF,BUT I GOT STUCK ON LAKE PALACE AND I GOT MY DAD TO HELP ME OUT IN THE GAME (HE ALREADY FINISHED THE GAME BEFORE XD).

I AM DOING PRETTY WELL IN ENGLISH THANKS TO ZELDA,FF & CHRONO TRIGGER SINCE I WAS 9 SO THANKS A LOT VIDEO GAMES XD
ah yes alundra how i loved this game , man i remember getting it by mistake from my brother he thought it was a zelda game loool and man it was just as good as zelda ,
thx bro for your mistake i played an excellent game ^_^

@Quiz1master5 It's called the "Soul Leech". It's introduced the first time in Kline's Nightmare. That's the snowy place. It appears another time in Giles Dream.
@Snakebite105 I'm not blind to the work people do on games today, I do have a lot of favorites on the PS2 and 360, and I like graphics as much as the next guy, but I'm not blind to the need for decent graphics, controls, gameplay, and characters as well as story-line. This mostly applies to RPGs and Adventure games, which are my favorite genres, but a certain degree of effort is needed in order for a game to be replayable and/or memorable. Take it for what you will.
@galenloire well, I actually played both games but I didnt finish alundra 2, only play it about 15% and I stopped so I'm curious whether there's a connection with alundra 1 later in the game or not but I guess not then :D
I prefer alundra one gameplay anyday, the puzzle is hard as hell
i remember this game was the only one that survived my house getting burned, its a shame about the house but this game was so good i actually felt relieved after founding it was still working in my burned ps1 (thats quality for you XD)
Maybe. But that is still kind of weak since they're both pretty good songs. And some of the finest soundtracks include even some radio commercials, we don't need to hear those kinds of extras, but it's a big plus.
And these two are the first songs that you hear in this game and they set you to the correct mood and after this you're just thinking: "Oh boy, if the intro parts are this cool, then I just can't wait to see the game itself!".
It's hard to comprehend the mind-set of game companies. Look at Square Enix; two fan-made Chrono Trigger games were being made, and instead of endorsing them, thus making money hand-over-fist and pleasing the fans, they dished out Cease and Desist orders.
hehe when i was little (around 3 years old) i wanted to play the game but i never got farther then the boat x3 heee.. i was soooo stupid :p nice vid !!
Love this game!!! There were a lot of creepy parts in the game that would spook me when I was a kid:o Like people being abducted from the villages, with the creepy music to back it up!
;-; It just means I'll have to get a copy from around here. x3 I still need to print out the case-art for my copy of Grandia; it came in one of those dull-plastic cases from a rental store, but it was cheaper for it. Manual came with it though; I just need to print out the cover art and whatnot that I managed to find and I should be good to go; I bought a 5$ sports game that was in a multi-disc case and switched them up. x3
"What? The masses think video games are cool now? Quick! Make crap that is interesting to the non-gamers and gramers so that we can rake in more cash!"
The only thing I didn't like about this game is the anime style intro and ending. It just doesn't go with the art style of the game, and most of the characters and villians look much better during actual gameplay.
I also don't like the whole 'rock' music playing during this intro. It didn't suit the game.
I found that a little funny, but only because those are some of the reasons that people really love this game, because it was rare for any game, even on the Playstation, to have well-animated cut scenes like this. :3
I won't say it's better than Zelda ALTTP but it's definitely harder...I never finished it, but I think I was near...I was in palace where Melzemos (main villain) or something like that(forgot the name correctly, it was a long time ago) and there was a riddle; ''King and his subjects'' and 6 or 8 pots in the middle room, that would lite whenever I solved one riddle...so I was wondering...Is ending near? Loved the game!

is alundra 2 a sequel? or totally different story?
Megadeth72 1 year ago
@Megadeth72 Alundra is a seperate story, where your character is a feared Pirate Hunter. That's known at the beginning so I didn't spoil anything. :3
galenloire 1 year ago
@galenloire well, I actually played both games but I didnt finish alundra 2, only play it about 15% and I stopped so I'm curious whether there's a connection with alundra 1 later in the game or not but I guess not then :D
I prefer alundra one gameplay anyday, the puzzle is hard as hell
Megadeth72 1 year ago
Love this game. Fav game of all time. Miles better than Zelda and Final Fantasy.
MaverickHero6 1 year ago
@MaverickHero6 Working Designs has made some fantastic games, like the Lunar games, and the Strategy RPG called Vanguard Bandits.

SAMUS1988 2 years ago
Pretty strange that they didn't include this song and the Title Theme to soundtrack at all. Like, why?
Sielunrauha 2 years ago
Perhaps they merely wanted to focus on the in-game music for the soundtrack?
galenloire 2 years ago
@galenloire
Sielunrauha 2 years ago
It's hard to comprehend the mind-set of game companies. Look at Square Enix; two fan-made Chrono Trigger games were being made, and instead of endorsing them, thus making money hand-over-fist and pleasing the fans, they dished out Cease and Desist orders.
galenloire 2 years ago
@galenloire Square Enix hate money. That's why they made FF13.
Zantetsudex 1 year ago
@Zantetsudex I haven't tried that game yet. I hear it takes hours before you get to real gameplay.

I have 2 (yes 2) copies of Alundra.

I just think its an uber game...

Wow... You sir, are a god amongst men.

I am just lucky to have got a 2nd copy.

You cant have galen, it wont work on your console any road, as I am an EU player :p
dmann1982 2 years ago
;-; It just means I'll have to get a copy from around here. x3 I still need to print out the case-art for my copy of Grandia; it came in one of those dull-plastic cases from a rental store, but it was cheaper for it. Manual came with it though; I just need to print out the cover art and whatnot that I managed to find and I should be good to go; I bought a 5$ sports game that was in a multi-disc case and switched them up. x3
galenloire 2 years ago
Cover Art = google.
Otherwise, yeah, I feel you.
I get games like that sometimes...
dmann1982 2 years ago
I already have the art thankyouverymuch. x3

"What? The masses think video games are cool now? Quick! Make crap that is interesting to the non-gamers and gramers so that we can rake in more cash!"

peopledozer 2 years ago
I totally love this intro, I totally love the music and I totally love the game!! :D
CornSw 2 years ago
The only thing I didn't like about this game is the anime style intro and ending. It just doesn't go with the art style of the game, and most of the characters and villians look much better during actual gameplay.
I also don't like the whole 'rock' music playing during this intro. It didn't suit the game.
Fantastic game, though.
lolfearme 2 years ago
I found that a little funny, but only because those are some of the reasons that people really love this game, because it was rare for any game, even on the Playstation, to have well-animated cut scenes like this. :3
galenloire 2 years ago
Hää? what are you talking? the intro and the ending intro are very fantastic!! This GAME is the best game i ever played!!
jaleltoumi 2 years ago 2
I didn't say they were bad, they just didn't suit the 'dark' theme of the game.
lolfearme 2 years ago
Hey the ANIME of the game was kick ass the intro just makes you want to play the game more.

StarOceanBoy 2 years ago 5
I won't say it's better than Zelda ALTTP but it's definitely harder...I never finished it, but I think I was near...I was in palace where Melzemos (main villain) or something like that(forgot the name correctly, it was a long time ago) and there was a riddle; ''King and his subjects'' and 6 or 8 pots in the middle room, that would lite whenever I solved one riddle...so I was wondering...Is ending near? Loved the game!
