please explain how morrison is selling out??? i thought that was the only band not to sell out.. beattles sold out to england in 64, stones/who/everyone esle did in the 80s, execept for zepplin just cuz they broke up before the all baby boomers turned on themselves.... ozzy/metal bands were created by the establishment, and morrison died before all this.... he took his belifs to his grave
Hey, I actually learned some trivia on this song. It use to be my favorite by him until I heard this. There was a girl in his life that he got into a physical altercation with and I think the trivia guy said it was started by Jim. Well, anyway, this song came out of that altication. If his movie was anything to go by he had a whild and dangerous relationship with his women.
@TheMidnightBell07 - hmm! I once wrote a piece on Olly Stone and how he'd screwed that movie up. F'rinstance, Jim did NOT GURN into the camara and YELL the word "higher" - during the performance of "Light My Fire" on the Ed Sullivan show, when Ed's minions had asked him to change the word, due to its recreational drug connection.
As you can see from the recording (it's on YouTube) he sang it NORMALLY, with NO emphasis. So as for Jim's relationships with women...
Hey, I know the movie is mainly hollywood and money is made on drama but I've also read and seen several biographies. He did do lot of that stuff with women. He was a 160 iq high-brain and he wasn't close to family or friends. He wasn't as shy or as non hippy as Hendrix. It really surprised me to learn Jimi Hendrix didn't like hippies but then he was in the service.
@TheMidnightBell07 - yeah, what "showbiz" people are REALLY like - what they think and do - are often a long way from our perception of them, through their work - even interviews. But then, we all have our "quirks".
I guess it's best to concentrate on their WORK.
160? Wouldn't surprise me (I'm 149). I think the nearest I got to Jim's REAL personality was two bits I've seen on film. One was from his UK tour, where he gets girls in the audience to scream into the mic - the other was from...
@dorianstentorian - ...a doco on the band. They are clearing customs. It's daytime and Jim is STRAIGHT - and he's really polite and nice to the officials.
Hey, I'm not so great that I can comment intelligently on his work. I mean, I understand music, arrangements, poetry and such but I'm better with people, especially personalities. He was an interesting guy though you get mixed comments about him. I feel like he was tortured and I know he wasn't happy. His eyes looked really lonely and sad. That's just my opinion though and all opinions are subjective, even mine lol.
@dorianstentorian - that is true it is only if you talk to that person or know intermate aspects of there personal life that you may now who they are or what they felt.
Jim is a unigue artist and ill always luv hima nd the doors foreva. for what they are still burns inside people today :) <3

@tatethompson1234 - Yeah - it's not really HIM, is it? But like "The Long And Winding Road", with Phil Spector's strings - it's a beautiful piece.

@TheMidnightBell07 - trouble is, actors, musicians, etc are PERFORMERS - it's hard to know WHAT is going on behind those eyes!
