In NHL official facebook page...is Who's the best, Themu Selanne or Jari Kurri, for me...Kurri, maybe Selanne is am actually player and this is the "extra point" but Kurri is exceptional...
True. But truth be told the OILERS were way too worn out from the 7 game war with Calgary in the 2nd round. Minnesota won fair and square, but the Oilers couldn't deliver their best. Too banged up.
The oilers played the Flames in round 1 that year. They played the Kings in round 2. That series went 6. Minnesota's 2nd round series with St.Louis went 6 aswell. And their 1st round series with Chicago went 6 too. Being banged up and tired wouldnt have had anything to do with it. Minnesota was just better.
@jayhawk88z My original comments were regarding the 1991 playoffs. Not the year in the video. In 1991 the oilers played Calgary, then Los Angeles, then Minnesota. In 1990 they played Winnipeg, Los Angeles, then Chicago and then Boston of course in the final. I remember watching the series vs the Jets in 1990. I stayed up and watched Dave Ellett's OT goal that put the Jets up 3-1 in the series. Then they blew it unfortunately.
If you ask anyone who the leading goal scorer was for the 89-90 Oilers in the playoffs, they will guess either Anderson or Kurri. Wrong. It was Craig Simpson. 16 goals. And he played on the second line lol.
The Oilers were technically underdogs in the 1990 final. But they played like anything but. Remember Ranford gave up just 8 goals in 5 games (actually more like 6 complete games if you include the 3OT in game 1). And the Bruins were outshooting the Oilers by quite wide margins. I didnt see the whole final. I only have the first game in my collection but I would definitely say Ranford was the key incredient to winning. Second Messier. Third: Kurri.

@jayhawk88z Minnesota still would have won that series. They spanked the oilers in 5. And its not as if kurri was Gretzky.
