My freshman year in high school we played this piece in marching band and the girls in the flag corp performed a routine. It was awesome music then and it still is today!
I remember this show and even now I still humm this music to myself every so often. I was a kid when it was on and I actually still miss it. Thanks for posting
Sometime you think you just dreamt up these great themes. And now with youtube it comes back to real life. AND you weren't crazy after all!

From what I know they had re runs of this all the way up into the late 90s, I remember my dad watching it around that time.

OMG, America has some amazing scenery! I'd so love to do a tour of your beautiful National Parks some day. One day, hopefully.

James Arness made this show a great show right after Gunsmoke ended. This is the last of the TV westerns.
ABC put this on in January's after Monday Night Football
would end each season. Also making this show was
that the filming was all on location in southern Utah.
Great story lines. Some of the former Gunsmoke crew helped to produce this series.

Does anyone know the name of the song? who wrote it? Thanks

ab4- I believe the name is simply "How the West Was Won Theme Song".
It was written by Jerrold Immel, a TV composer. His best known work was probably the theme to "Dallas".
