I was at this game in section 247. I snagged the tix the day before off stubhub to give my girlfriend her first experience of a true opening day in St. Louis. I had no clue that he was to appear. It truly capped off the day, and this video (no matter how hard it is to see him) tugs at the heart strings!

They had shown him on the big screen just briefly a moment earlier. I knew what was gonna happen, so I just kept my mouth shut and started recording. Although you couldn't see him very well in this vid, I liked that I got the crowd's reaction to the moment-especially after he stood up.

Been a Cardinal fan all my life(55yrs.) and "Stan the Man" is the real deal. Doesn't get no-where-near the credit for the great ballplayer that he was. 100 times the ballplayer that Ted Williams ever was. Stan's problem was that he didn't promote himself, because Stan was all about team and not self. Here's to the best all around white ballplayer ever. Mays & Aaron probably the best of the blacks.
