@JFredUK Alot of my themes are recorded exactly as they appear on TV, but also some of them are the original recordings and some are cover versions. I even have a rew rave and disco remixes.

Summer Wine is lovely, but News at Ten is worth a vote. It's been re-imagined so many times over the years but the essential melody is still there. The original piece is called 'Awake' and is terrific. Nice to hear the Casualty theme but I thought the first version was better and a composer called Mark Ayres has done a stonking version.
The news at ten original composed by Johnny Pearson was the best,firstly it told you it was time for kids to be in bed,secondly it's authoritarian stance and stern feel told you the news was about to start and it's menacing tone summed it in one.

4dbirds, I got the Last Of The Summer Wine picture from the internet, but I've had it for so long I can't remember where on the internet. Try Google or a Summer Wine website.
As a matter of interest, is your collection taken, 'off-air', or do you have the original recordings which the theme tunes were adapted from?

Last of the Summer Wine was my Mum's favourite TV show. What she didn't know about every single episode really wasn't worth knowing.
She died in July this year (2008) and this theme tune was the last thing that played as we left the Crematorium.
Bitter sweet memories of a really great tune and I am pleased to see that there are other people who think the same. :-)
