hey man, are you using any other form of miking apart from the h2 because i recently bought a recorder, and i have no mics, and it's terribel, would this do the job?

no micing at all besides the h2; all the sound you hear is what the h2 recorded.

it was placed about a few feet away from the drum set on a stand.

How does the H2 handle peeking out? I'm filming for a local metal band. They have two drummers so they get pretty loud. My only concern so far with the H2 is clipping.

It does not peak very easily.....if you have it on low gain its very hard to get it to peak. Its a very good recorder.

That is one heck of a unit, isn't it. I was searching ONLY for a mic and couldn't get anything worthwhile for under several hundred dollars, and thought of my friend;s little digital recorder, which had built in mics. It sounded great. A lot of research led me to the Zoom H2, with several configurations on microphones and excellent digital recorder. Very versatile. Highly recommended. The "One Love" video I posted uses it (with earbud coming out of Zoom for singer's monitor).
