  • it was kinda boring but it was good, it was like real life

  • looks like drama not a movie

  • what's the name of the songs in this trailer? so relaxing.

  • They're not retarded, they just have a different way or living. Not everyone in this world is the same. This movie sorta reminds me of Gummo, but less odd.

  • Pauls mum normal? she comes across to me like she wants to fuck her own son. the comments she makes in the film are far from normal in my opinion!

Also if you grew up or live in a small working class industrial town in most places in the world people can comes across retarded, it's just their way. man i live in a small yorkshire town and most of the people i interact with or see i'd describe as retarded. Anyway GREAT film!!!

  • This was one of the worst movies ive have ever seen. Its just about dumb small town people and no real story. The acting is horrendous. Please people do not waste you time on this movie.

  • And oh my god, I just realized I spelled "scene" wrong, which wouldn't be ironically weird if I hadn't just ask if the characters in a movie were mentally handicapped. But anyway, moving on.

  • "I love you!" "Why would you say that, what's wrong with you!" LOL Okay, seriously, no offense, but I kinda felt like I was watching the break up seen from "The Other Sister" (great movie by the way.) So I'm just gonna ask, is this a "The Other Sister" type deal, you know are they....special? But yeah, other than that clarification this movie looks dramatic and good and I recognize a lot of actors, so I might check it out.

  • @JapRoc14 Nope, they're not "special". Once you watch it in context, it'll make a lot more sense or it might not. But for me, it made perfect sense. It's the kind of thing you can see a lot in real life.

  • Although beautifully shot, I have no clue about many aspects of this film.

The scene where Noel is at a party and a drunk guy is staring through the window at her. She seems more interested in him than the phone call she's having with Paul. It seemed like she was going to cheat on him.

And why does Paul end up in a bar drinking? What happened before that? What did Noel do wrong?

Also, are all the characters a bit retarded? Paul's mum seems like the only normal person in the whole film.

  • @VYD239 1. Well, that's pretty much what happened, no? Although she does love Paul, I think that she was very young (She wasn't even in college yet!), and was rather sheltered from all her years in Boarding School, so then Paul, the casanova in town begins to pay attention to her and then all these guys are as well, she thinks she should just enjoy it, but she doesn't.

Did you even see the movie? It's obvious Paul wanted to get hammered after discovering the truth about Noel.

  • They're all young and a bit dumb. Honestly, maybe I hang out or see too many stupid people, but the behavior and dialogue of all of them is very real to me. Of coure, Paul's mom is going to seem the most normal as she is the most mature.

  • Man none of these actors or the director are doing remotely similar things

  • Kenny Powers is regreting this.. but at least he's getting paid now.

  • Zooey deschanel ROCCKKS!

  • POOR movie !! I've just wasted stupid 2 hours for NOTHING !

  • doesnt look like a good movie :S

  • @kawaiifulx3 Why do you say?

  • why is danny mcbride in this? "mother nature just pissed her pants suit."

  • Gay sex.

  • It seems that most think of "George Washington" when DGC gets brought up. But, I feel that this film is his best thus far and is the most representative of his vision. It's poetic, engrossing and altogether awesome.

  • Zooey:D

  • Needs more KENNY POWERS!

  • @RedStateRetard Rent the DVD and check out the deleted scenes. Danny McBride's deleted scenes are the funniest I've seen.

  • award winning

  • Wow these guys certainly know how to make a boring, semi-cringeworthy trailer.

  • gotta watch this ...... soundtrack with ...EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY

  • the greatest film ever made in my opinion(told i'm crazy). brakes me everytime i watch it. there's just something about it! Must of watched it over 50 times easy and know most of the lines. i cant get enough! "...i love you" "why would you say that, why?"

  • @WanderingTwin1 the ending is perfect

  • anyone know the name of the song thats playing??

    thanks!

  • @asapee222

1st song: Part of the soundtrack of the film by Michael Linnen and David Wingo.

2nd song: Streets were Raining by Pyramid

  • kenny powers haha

  • can someone tell me the name of the track played in the background????

  • this movie changes everytime you get older.

  • I really like this movie.

  • @Cradelikz - I really like this movie as well.

  • guys this is on 999 Full Movies . com

  • does anyone know where i can watch it or download it? i need to see it :(

  • @imabbie0 Its up here on youtube.

  • Danny Mcbride being serious.

  • i seen the movie and they should make a part 2, i wanna know if they get back together.

  • i first saw this late on a saturday night and i stumbled upon ten minutes in. went to bed two hours later watery eyed and smiling. its so underrated, a really special film.

  • @richbizkit

I think it's underrated because of this trailer, because honestly it's oneif the worst i've ever seen, no fense the movie is reallly good!

  • @richbizkit Should I watch this movie? coz the trailer sucked and I don't wanna waste my time =S .. comment back plz

  • @ai5H4 yeah give it a try, i loved it, the cinematography is beautiful and the soundtrack works really well, story is a little cliche and the male lead isnt that great but overall its a fantastic film. sweet little indie romance.

  • @richbizkit

Well ok I'll give it a chance, but hey, if I didn't like it I'll blame you for wasting my time!! jk ;p

    I'm gonna watch it tonight

  • why do you think it sucks?

  • well its not hollywood acting, thats for sure. david gordon green seems to strive for naturalistic performances in his movies which may come off as bad acting, but to me, it gives the characters a sense of authenticity. like, i could know any of these characters inreal life, not just on the screen.

  • I feel that this is DGG's best film (well, so far). It captured his style/vision the most dynamically.

  • one of my favorite movies. Its such an honest depiction of how love doesn't always work out how you want it to. Everything from the flawed characters to the seemingly non-sensical dialogue resembles real life in a way most scripted romances can't. Parts can be so unexpected that it has to remind you of those times in life when things just ended up in ways you couldn't possibly have imagined. It is the honest imperfections of the story and characters that make this film so unique and powerful.

  • well said.

  • loved the film. simple, raw, and honest. i don't mind movies that take it's time in telling its story.

  • omg danny mcbride!

  • надо глянуть)

  • I loved this movie. It was deep, realistic and simple but at the same time it was powerful and touching. The way the actors portrayed their characters was brilliant and the emotion that was shown was like you don't normally see.

  • It's true but at one single point it starts to get interesting. If any lead acress other than zooey was there probably would have done the same. I am glad I stayed though.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song playing at the end of this trailer?

  • "Streets Were Raining" by Pyramid

  • I didn't want to hate this movie. It had promise, and I thought it would be great. Unfortunatly, in the end, the movie turned to crap. The only good thing about this movie (besides the first half, which was great) was the acting by the main characters.

  • do u hav the movie ?? cud u upload it onto youtube for a bit:P

  • Such a powerful movie.

  • Yes, cowardice there Mary. However, my main beef was just 'cowardice' by the director - not taking chances.

  • If this movie had ended with the 'smoking in the bedroom' scene it could have been one of the very best films of recent times. However, it didn't, it plummeted into trite sentimentality. I have never seen such potentially great film be destroyed by such cop-out cowardice. I have not been able to see one of SG Green's movies since as he let me (and himself and a good cast) down so badly.

  • what sucks is that the end has zooey's char saying she loves that guy dut he just gives up! that what you mean by cowardice? i wist those 2 could stick together but i guess he sucks at keeping a girl hmm?

  • relationships don't always have happy endings and I think that's what Green was trying to portray... things don't always work out, people do stupid things, and say stupid things and they don't always come together happily at the end. Do I wish that the ending was differently, probably but I feel like this ending is more true to real life.

  • Did you read my comment? The last thing I was suggesting was a convenient, pat ending. I just think Green flailed around for the last half an hour or so and lapsed into sentimentality. I hate sentimentality.

  • no yeah I understood what you were saying... but I guess the ending was probably an attempt to appeal to a broader audience which is sad because the rest of the movie was amazing.

  • could u guys maybe get me a link or sumthing for it?? :D i cant find it anywhere:P

  • I think the so-called "sentimentality" at the end is what made me love the movie. The smoking scene is so bitter and hard to watch that it represents the two characters at their absolute worst. If it had ended there, it would have been a bleak and immature portrait of two characters who aren't that two-dimensional. It is a love story, not a story about hard feelings. I thought the ending was perfect cause it captures the two of them coming to peace with the reality of their relationship.

  • Sometimes life is 'bleak' and god knows people are 'immature'... The final section wasn't 'real' - it was a contrivance to appeal to a broader audience. It could have been Rohmer-esque but merely turned to slush. No truth was revealed, just more cliches. As I said, an opportunity missed.

  • why haven't i heard about this movie before???

    it seems so good.

and does anyone know the song in the trailer?

  • my favorite movie

  • Such a fantastic movie. Feels just like life in a small town. It's a love story that feels real, not Hollywood, and truly displays Zoey's talents.

  • What's that song playing throughout the trailer?

  • "Streets Were Raining" by Pyramid.

  • this was a good movie. the emotions portrayed felt so real, i got the chills. this movie is definitely underrated.

  • One of my favourite films ever.

Everyone should know a love like this at least once.

  • bella pelicula, con defectillos pero bella!

  • I hope David Gordon Green's next film "snow angels" is as great as this film.

  • I am fucking in love with this trailer...That song in the beginning is so hauntingly good. I can not wait to see this movie.

  • This is one of the most beautiful and tragic films I've seen in a long time. Zooey Deschanel takes my breath away.

  • @munchkindelite i love her too but that movie sucked

  • I dont know why but just feel like crying everytime i see this trailer.

  • I think the trailer does the film perfect justice. One of my all time favourites, both the trailer and the film.

  • does anyone tell me that second acoustic track that is so atmospheric

    just shiver when i hear

    please anyone

  • This is my favorite Zooey Deschanel film. It's drastically underrated and everyone gives a wonderful performance.

  • This is a fantastic movie.

  • I know the first song is "Hottub" by Michael Linnen & David Wingo, but what is the song after that?

  • This trailer is AWFUL... but the movie is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. One of my all-time favorites... just found it randomly while browsing at the video store. Love it.

  • I'd definitely agree. The trailer is quite rubbish and doesn't do the film justice at all...awesome movie

  • i loved this movie

    Zoe Deschanel is awesome

  • this looks so good! when is it coming out on dvd?

  • It has been out for a while now.

  • yeah, the movie came out in 2003

  • Perfect--Thank you. It means so much to post this to a big group of girls and guys that know and respect movies.

  • it looks awesome! Thanx so much 4 posting!
