i HATE that her pregnant daughter is made to be a reflection of her motherly morals. kids are going to do what they want to do, yknow? yet i also really hate that the push is now on the daughter to marry -- and it's hard for me to believe that she'd be cool with this pregnancy if they were STAYING unwed. it's possible for this "accident" to turn into a blessing w/o making vows before God a part of the scenario. baby mama's do it all the time.
I agree 100%! Of course, this sort of thing happens outside the public eye too, although probably not as often as it used to. Controlling parents are a force to be reckoned with.
You make a lot of really good points. She has done a lot of good (or bad if you ask me) to re-energize her evangelical followers. And really that is all that will matter to them. After all these are the people that have voted in George Bush twice. So charisma is all that counts for these voters. Point in the end being that these voters would have never voted for Obama in the first place.
Palin cut funding for programs for unwed mothers and special needs. Now she wants to be an advocate because her life is affected.
Repubs are hypocrites. They judge harshly unwed teens in other communities - calling their situations shameful. Repubs will pay for the hypocrisy when the rate of teen pregnancies explodes in their circles!
Why is executive experience the measuring stick? Obama has been the "CEO" of his campaign for two years (which is the best run campaign history!)
Her history of hypocrisy will not be important to most Republicans or undecided voters. They will see that she is capable of learning from her own circumstances. That's a biblical theme, in fact: see Apostle Paul (not my favorite guy - I'm just saying). Often people don't care about an issue until it has a personal impact (cancer, SIDS, drunk driving, etc.).
Certainly, the organized Washington-insider Neocons have done this in the past. But they won't be able to now without also doing it to their own VP, and that again is evidence of the cultural shift I mentioned.
Exec experience is the measuring stick because it happens to be there. Democrats would use it if they could. Running a local or state government is different than a campaign - you have to work with people who voted for you and people who didn't. I doubt there is anyone in Obama's campaign who doesn't support him 100%.

Thanks - and if it wasn't clear in my video, I'm simply playing devil's advocate here.
