Depends on your type of playing style, both have their advantages and disadvantages, for instance, if you like long range combat then corsair is the job for you, if you like close combat then viper is for you. Corsairs have an all around attack and can summon. Vipers can transform and have extreamly powerful moves. Vipers also have a party buff and corsairs don't, so they are not as wanted for bossing. Corsiars are faster and can escape quickly. Corsiars can also use the elements.

@ GuRLjUic3 Battleship isn't a Transform, its more of a mount. That's why you can get on and off at anytime as long as it has HP. After your ship takes a certain amount of damage depending on its level and your character's level it will break. While its broken it coolsdown(repairs).

No you can't climb the ladders or ropes with Battleship.

I trained in 4th job right from the start so having a ship that died in two hits would have made training really slow and just several more levels of third job. I could handle a two minute ship cool down because my ship lasted 12 minutes instead of 4.

Huh? Lvl 1 Battleship doesn't add 2k per lvl in that manner. You can be lvl 128 with lvl 0 Battleship, after adding that 1 point the forumla would kick in. Each SP to battleship adds 4k.

For your information, battleship at level 1 is very useful considering it allows you to use cannon.

Level 1 cannon is better than level 20 burst fire. The only people that don't rush to get battleship at level 120 are either mentally handicapped or unaware of the correct order of sp placement.

You're wrong, lvl 20 Burst Fire is stronger than lvl 1 Battleship Cannon. In-game even though it says the damage is 190%, its actually 210%. Its been tested many of times and I've tried it myself. And for your information the reason many people dont' rush to get battleship at lvl 1 is because training at a place like newties, 1 point in Elemental Amp(+1sec freeze) help more, everyone wants Aerial Strike(Air Strike), and Support Octo helps Burst Fire. Amp and Aerial Strike are just a must get.

Of course cannon at lvl 1 isnt the "best", but its semi-good. Once you can hit 4x with it, it WAY out-damages burst fire. Also, why would you go to newties on your ship? Any corsair that had good control would first freeze, then get on ship, to avoid losing it. On top of that, if you have good control, you know when to dismount the ship, and when to mount it, so that it doesnt lose HP. Stealth is right, corsairs should attempt to get battleship and cannon first.

Why don't you go test it out yourself and see how much of a fail you're being.

But I didn't say you'd stay there forever. Once you start to 2hit Newts you can kill all 4 on the mid platform. You'll need 4sec freeze for that, but you'll know that when/if you get there.

Skeles is the best solo place for corsair (With the exception of anego), so once you can three hit skeles you should be there. Two hitting newts=three hitting skeles.
