I did this at home to myself and saved the $300. You can get the tool off ebay for all of $7.99 (english anvil), the matrix splitter $9, and the phenol $9.00.
@damitmanable It sucked for sure, even iced it hurt a ton. Depending on your toe and the amount
of flesh on it. If the flesh is real high around the nail, it's better to have them remove the skin/flesh in a Vandenbos procedure which has a 100% success rate and costs the same. Insist on it, if they miss a tiny bit of root you'll have another ingrown nail and probably worse than the first time.
@ASSEMblerEX Hmm well that sucks, thanks for the heads up though. Think I'm gonna try soaking it for a few hours till the nail gets really soft and then just go for it. If it grows back I'll save up and keep the Vandenbos procedure in mind, that or I'll just get the whole damn nail removed. Anyway, thanks.
0_0 WOW, so yours didnt even look that bad, but you still had to get this sugery? I have one, and it looks about the same. From your voice it dosnt really sound like it hurts, but this still looks uncomfortable. Ive had 3 skin graphs since i got a 3rd degree burn on my hand, but i was knocked out cold when i had the surgery so i dont have any experince in actaully watching the procedure.
If you still read the comments and see this, do you have any advice?
@Shaney1337 Haha, i could only imagine the relief you must have felt when you saw the nail come out. It looks like im gonna have to end up having the same surgery, but at this point i welcome it. The dang thing is just so annoying.
i have an ingrown toenail and its inflamed just like yours but the doctor didnt suggest a surgery, he just gave me medicine. also did he say penis cutter?
Oh my goodness gracious thats painfull! I had this surgery done and the doctor said "You will never get ingrown toenails again" BULLSHIT! I get them all the time. So now I just go to the nail place, get a pedicure and the lady takes em out. she does a real good. :)
Its kind of funny I stumbled onto this video. I'm in podiatry school now because of Dr. Roberts. I actually did a 10 week internship in his office there in Miami, OK a few years back when I was in college. He is an amazing doctor and does some very complex surgeries because he got extremely good residency training. While I was doing my internship there, he actually did that same procedure for my wife. You were definately in good hands.
Yeah that was the second surgery that i've gotten from him. and he is by far the only person i'd recommend for toe nail surgeries. He's a good doctor, and an awesome commentator. haha. Well, good luck with your schooling my friend. :)
I'm going to get mine removed in a few weeks. I need to make sure the doctor I go to uses that phenol chemical. I definitely don't want that part of the nail to grow back.
@seinfan9 Yeah, the toenails that i got the surgery on all did fine. i'm pleased with the results. It's funny this is the only surgery video of toenail removal i can watch without getting sick, partly because its my foot i'll bet.
I just got mine done yesterday (Wednesday). The nail margins on both sides were cut down (wedge resection) and she did phenolisation on the sides so the ingrown part wouldn't grow back. My GP did it, she did a really good job.
I had to go back today to have the dressing changed. Now I have a smaller bandage and I can take it off on Sunday.
If you need to get it done, don't panic, the proceedure itself it doesn't hurt at all. Only the needles do.
great video, if you need any help getting your video/channel exposed i use a site called mytubeviews . com It has helped 5 of my videos get ranked on the first pages.

@wadad17
Yeah, it wasn't that bad looking, but it like the doctor said was REALLY SORE and it was swollen. haha.
It doesn't hurt at all they give you 3 or 4 shots of local anesthetic. It was a procedure that i was glad that i had done.
if you are at all afraid of doing it, be relaxed, its a simple and quick procedure, i literally videotaped everything but the shots.

Less than 3 weeks.
it was a rapid healing process really.
Shaney1337 2 years ago
if you dont get surgery how long will it take?
SpruceParkNerd 2 years ago
Well, if you do not get surgery, it will just get infected even worse, causing serious health problems.
But, I do not recommend going without surgery, they are more serious than they look or sound.
Shaney1337 2 years ago
well i just got the ingrown toenail out..

so it will take less than 3 weeks?
