World War2 is said 2B the last 'good' war.The US had no real choice. They were attacked by Japan & declared war on Japan. The allies of Japan, Germany&Italy, declared war on the US.The US fought a holding action as they repaired & replaced a damaged Navy. I'm told it was the last time the whole nation cried out to God4help. President Roosevelt said, 'we would win the ultimate victory, so help us God.' But is any war good? Not really. Many pray for a day when the Prince of Peace will rule us all.
Sang this song at my grans funeral , and after it gave me the energy to do a tremendous speech about her effot in the war. We will never forget these people, They say forgive and forget , true you can forgive over time but we must never forget these people who suffered so greatly otherwise something so terrible could happen so easily again.
Dad used to play this every night on the piano at the end of his practice. Cancer took him. Sung this song at his funeral - miss him dearly. RIp dad x

And a favorite of mine. I used to sing it to my children when I tucked them in for the night...Minicooper....I thought of my Dad yesterday, also (he died in 2003 at 97) and also listened to a beautiful rendition of Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar". Isn't it lovely that we have our Dad's love of music in our genes......and fond memories of them singing.
Mam & Sirs: At the Beginning of this Year 2010, I would like to give my earnest approving nod of gratitude for this hymn presented, here. In similar vein, I like to reflect also on the poem known as "The Sun Also Rises." Thank you. Happy New Year. --James Howard Day (Jr.), Great State of Texas, USA.
As we said in the last century, actually the one before that, "One Flag, One Queen, one Empire", to which I append, "one Church". It all seemed so simple in those days, yet geo-politically, it was probably full of far more intrigue and danger than the modern world.

@ebird29 Very special song. And I'm sure your dad was a very special man. He lives on in his gift of music that he shared while he was alive.
