@theiceman74 I hope it hasn't been too long since your question about the Lakshim Gayatri for this to be relevant. My view is that listening to a mantra like this is helpful, but personal chanting has an even greater effect. If you chant yourself, the action brings your own personal energy and intention into engagement, which I think makes a mantra more powerful.

Wow! I feel great after chanting this mantra 108 times. I was having a coffee and I saw the room had three pictures of Laxsmi together on one wall, and so especially seeing as it is Mother's Day, I felt a need to connect with the Great Mother. I sat in Padmasana, the lotus pose with my left leg first and chanted through one mala, whilst so doing I discovered a new way of counting 108 using pressure between my palms in a certain order. I wonder if Lakshmi later evolved to become Tara as Tantricism expanded into Tibet from North India?Tara represents the quality of compassion which is a feminine receptive aspect of love. Most kids, especially in Western culture, aren't interested in chanting though, so it is really beautiful that you are drawn to do so at such a young age.
